This is one of my favorite videos to come out lately. I get a lot of benefit from the followup of "what could the opponent have done differently?" and it's especially helpful to break down why an idea that /kind/ of makes sense still isn't quite the right call, percentage wise.
These videos are helping me so hard as a main support; knowing and when to freeze or push a lane is so great and it's making me hard win a lane in 85% of the time. Sadly later in the game the leads fall off and I end up losing more ofen than not and I now have a significant negative win rate :(

It’s hard in low elo even if you won your lane. The other two lanes and jungler can completely screw up the game even if u won your lane and people don’t play safe in heavy scaling comps. If your teammates see that u and adc are fed bot lane they should play safe so that they don’t give the enemy laners a chance to get fed off of them. Then you have 2 fed players vs no fed players mid to late game which is a free win. Sadly in low elo people don’t care if they have a winning lane and continue to fight regardless of how their teammates are doing which gives the enemy jungler an opportunity to bring his even lanes into winning lanes. Support also can’t completely carry the game in low elo without at least one winning lane. Usually it’s your own adc if u won lane. The worst part is that people can’t peel in low elo so u and the adc are pretty much screwed against assassins unless ur not playing a enchanter or mage support.

Because thats what actually happens in gold elo.
At the end of the day, you literally can't win every game. Nobody has a 100% win rate, there are just some games you are destined to lose. Caring about the 100% for sure over-the-top losses is just futile.
@@ragna2077 Id like a video explaining how to help a losing lane, its so often that my botlane just runs it down and are 0/3/0 each by 10minutes. Like this exact situation happens far to frequently, infact im surprised when my bot lane actually wins, but that could just be negativity bias. Like honestly I cannot stress how fast these people fuck their lanes over, at 10 minutes they can 2v3 my roam lol.
@@pajama5364 botlane is a cursed lane. My bot usually is something like 2-16, 1-12, but I still can kill even fed adc (main Ahri mid rn) and win most of the times. I have no idea why it happens so often, I mained adc for 3 seasons and even with shit support you still can put wards, lose some farm but at least you are not feeding.
I’m new to all this and feel like the explanations need to be broken down way more. For point #1, they list a bunch of reasons why pushing would be too slow, which makes sense, but then go on to say you’ll miss 2-3 waves without any elaboration. Why? If the lane is still basically frozen in neutral due to aforementioned reasons, why would you lose anything besides a back to base?
It's not frozen in neutral in the situation where you get a kill vs someone with tp and you don't have it, if you can't push the wave fast and are less than 50% hp with low mana and no flash/ignite and the person tps back with full everything with the wave pushing towards them they can just freeze vs you because you're so low they can just kill you now if you try to contest the wave and that's the situation they're talking about
Unfortunately, low elo isnt really low elo anymore.. I'm play 4 right now and 95% of my games are people with sub 30 games 75%+ win rates. Feel like everyone is smurfing.. Kinda sucks to play.
I went adc varus in a normal game, with the goal in mind to just try out different ideas that i got from watching these videos. I won lane by a very slight margin and i start to outfarm the other adc, following different tips from proguide videos. Sylas and Volibear (mid and jungle respectively) start to pick up lots and lots of completely pointless fights, with no clear idea in mind apart from just wanting to kill people. They were very far ahead and kept engaging into fights while i was just doing my own thing bot and then top, farming whenever there isnt any real objective on the map. They start to go so hard on fights that eventually they die in some of them, instantly spam pinging the guy that is just farming. I just tell them that what they are doing is pointless, we shouldnt fight for drake if they have all 5 there and some of us have not respawned, dont pick losing fights etc.. etc.. they engange anyways, die and just write to report me after game. I started joining their useless crusade in killing everything and help them out in some fights, but they were so aggressive they started to engage fights that we clearly could have not won. They completely threw the lead they had (and that i had, since i started following them into fights to not get them even more furious) into the bin and in the end they had the audacity to say in the post game chat stuff like "varus said the n word" and "varus is racist report him" both sylas and volibear (i suppose they were duoing) just to get me reported. Not sure what else i should have done with these type of people in the game apart from just muting them instantly and just do my own things. Even muting them doesnt sound like the best outcome since in the eyes of the average league player, if you are farming instead of fighting you are pretty much trolling, so you are probably gonna get reported after game without even knowing it. Any ideas on how to handle situations like these? x)
I would suggest watching skillcapped's "play selfishly" or whatever the title video but even then it's hard to implement the idea of playing selfishly to get 6 items so you can carry alone because since your team is retarded and dies mindlessly, the enemy team will just push mid and finish the game...So I guess you just take the - lp and queue for another while praying you don't get matched with apes xD
@@dorjjodvo1992 The only thing that comes to my mind is to simply not to apply these advanced tips in low-mid elo and just apply the major macro tips instead: learn how to fully manage your waves and vision control. It would be nice if skillcap makes a video on how to pick up advantages in "sneaky" ways... if you just farm consistently, random people will think you are not joining them in fights. Instead what is a way to get advantage without your team "noticing"? That would be very helpful i believe for lots and lots of people since the main factor that does not make people climb i believe is how harsh other people are when you try to think with your brain instead of just mindlessly fight

Simply if there's more of their minions alive I back straight away cause it's a slow push to you or a freeze, both positive outcomes. (if not I think the best play is to slow push or shove if u can, if u can't you shouldn't have killed the enemy in the 1st place)
I have seen so much lead throw in my recent game that stunning. Exemple: I was pushing top while all the enemy team was going for a cloud drake. My team jump in with nooooo vision and all die and blame me. Ok guys I still got 2 tower and the inib for the second drag(cloud). And I knew at this EXACT moment that we lost the game. you can slowpush and rely on the safety of minions if you didn't expend too many resources. This is especially true for top lane. Otherwise just recall and respect TP next time.

Hello. Malphite main here. I'm not exactly a good player and possibly everything I say is completely wrong, but this is what I feel after playing a bunch of Malphite. DO NOT ROAM, at least when Malphite has R. Literally his only way to come back into the game is to hit a big ult and set up a win for his team. Outside of a teamfight, Malphite is useless. Freezing is indeed a good idea, especially since top lane is very long and you have plenty of space to run him down in a 1v1. Just keep this in mind for all teamfighting tanks, not just Malphite (Ornn, Sion, Cho'Gath, etc.). However frustrated you are that you can't kill the meatball in lane, your opponent will only be more frustrated than you because they can't do the one thing their champ is built to do. If your opponent is stuck in lane tanking you, he's not tanking or engaging the rest of your team. That's why in the lategame against tanks, you really want to split push.
@@aerialkiller5948 yeah roaming has never worked for me because the tank just gains levels alongside you and is more useful in team fights. Splitting also feels bad though because you can't really take turrets when malphite is chilling underneath them.
@@burritogod59 Of course you can't actually take the turret. But your team has an exponentially better chance of winning a teamfight if they don't have a Malphite to ult your whole team. Again, no matter how sad you are seeing the Malphite chilling under turret, the Malphite is even more sad chilling under turret instead of helping his team. Also, the Malphite will have absolutely no prio or power in the sidelane, so you can just perma shove then take time to take jungle camps, set vision around drag/baron, and be faster to rotate to fights.
@@aerialkiller5948 very good point at the end there. Setting up vision, rotating faster, and taking jg camps. That is an advantage that I would have. Keeping us both in the sidelane doesnt help by itself if my team is losing. Thanks for helping me work through that situation.

I mean, what do you do when the opponent does freeze though? Maybe this is applicable to NA but in EUW gold players definitely freeze on you if you mess up the wave.

I know it's not great for advertising, but I think they most certainly could make a video congratulating him on the progress he DID make. Even if the experiment kinda failed. I do think it was waaaaaaay too much to ask for though in the first place. These challenger level players just think too much that all of these low elo players are the same. From their perspective it's hard to see the different levels of complete trash, so they thought it'd be possible, but that's just my 2 cents haha

I was playing urgot top once vs a sett and after 5mins I was 0 3 thought I lost the game lmao but the sett COMPLETLY LEFT the lane perma roaming so I farmed for free like 15mins and when I got 3 items at 0 3 I could 1v2 their botlane lmao free win
Honestly stupid risks like this by my jungle and mid after we got such an early lead has made me lost my last 3 ranked games. Then at some point they just don’t get why the other team is coming back and they start saying aram mid we have an inhibitor down we can end, I just cry and die inside as all my work as a sup goes down the drain cause they never listen to the sup.
@@dorjjodvo1992 Not actually a CM main XD just a good picture from years ago, always been more of a STR pos 3 heros for utility or melee agi heroes pos 1 like slark or jug, riki, meepo along time ago etc. I like the changes in the game, I think the match progression is a lot more smooth that in chunks like the last patch with the outpost and bounty rune changes. Also always been a fan of new pathing options and warding spots so that the map actually feels fresh every year too. I think the movement speed cap nerfs are the best this patch though. The game already has much larger skill ranges so being able to just fly across the map without really being punished too hard for a bad tp is something I'm happy to see go. It'll be a lot harder for teams to just sweep side to side on the map all game for 30min straight and just win.
Shoutout to another slatk player x) That being said, why do you juggle between both mobas? My friend and I kinda switched to lol after being burnt on Doto since the state of the game is stale and my friend has not played much lol whereas I started on lol and dabbled in doto afterwarfs
@@dorjjodvo1992 Oh i don't jungle in league. I tried it for a month and I think it's boring as all hell especially with the map being mirrored. It's the same gank timings to watch out for every game in all elos pretty much.
Skill Capped called out the issues with these Hector smurf videos: That at the end of the day Hector is a challenger player smurfing in low ELO. Heck, even Hector is frustrated and you can hear it in clips. If Hector has to work that hard to get the content there is a problem with the setup. Stop having Hector smurf and have him take on some challenges in an appropriate level of play.
But there are no other alternatives tho, if he doesn't smurf in low elo we can't have educational videos like this so Hector just has to deal with that reality... And honestly I am sure he's being paid to do it so it's whatever

Lol, guess I'm trash too. I said check mini map for enemy locations/ potential ganks, if you don't know where jg is then immediately back to turret to base. If it was safe finish low farm then base, as early farm is more xp/gold dif than late farm.
Me too, I was so sure. I didn't take into account his HP and that there was zero way he could push the wave in time. Worst thing is this has 100% happened to me many times after I get an early solo kill because I thought you ALWAYS had to crash the wave after killing the enemy laner
I watch plat/diamond games and it's disheartening how much people still do dumb shit like bronzies... I think only a very small percentage of players have good macro knowledge and decision making no matter the rank

It was hard for me to take note as this guide basically says use common sense, feel like it's something you gain through experience, guides, coaches or re-evauluating your own games and noticing these mistakes. Overall this guide just tells me to replay my videos, realize my mistakes, find a solution to the mistakes.
I think low elo people throw their leads easily just because most of the time they are auto-piloting and dont think that much just because they have been in that lead for most of their games and they just assume the opponents cannot utilize the advantages that they are getting based on the mistakes the players whos ahead is making. Hector is a god because he is exploiting and have the ability to extend on the mistake made by the low elo players while the average player in that elo just always make it a coin-toss

Freeze against them, u lure them to come out. If they still don’t come out they will miss out on cs and will be down in lvl and Cs in general. Force them out of the range where they can earn xp if the minions die and if he dosen’t back up you can punish him for it and possibly kill him. 15-20 cs = a kill. Playing safe is meant so u don’t give the enemy laner more kills than he already has. But if the guy playing safe is losing too much cs it can equal several kills even if they aren’t actually dying. You can also slow push the wave if your jungler is doing his camps on your side of the map and prepare for a tower dive with him.
@@astral9022 That is not how the game works. If you know you're being frozen on and your jungler will not come to help then your best response to freezing is roaming to a different lane. Trying to permanently freeze a lane sounds good and certainly your lead against your opposing laner will increase initially, but that's not the whole story. If your recognizes A) they cannot fight the you B) you are freezing and C) his jungler won't help him reset, then his best decision is to roam while you freeze. Whichever lane he roams to minimally hurts your teammates causing them to fall behind if they are able to avoid getting killed by the roam but they too will suffer from being denied gold and experience, and if they give the kill, then you could actually lose your gold lead while your teammates fall behind. The safest way to create a lead that does not allow your teammates to get screwed over is to slow push a large minion wave to tower and then dive and kill the laner trying to collect the wave. You have effectively eliminated the reason why your opponent would want to roam, prevented your teammates from dying to your opposing laner, presented yourself with the opportunity to dive or freely roam or buy, and created a situation where it's likely your opposing jungler/support/laner needs to be around to prevent your dive effectively putting your teammates at a 4v3 advantage on the map with the possibility of a 5v3 while the guard and behind guy are trying to collect farm under tower.
When you realise that the biggest psychological impact is not the challenges Skill Capped impose onto Hector, but him having to play in this dog elo where players have left their brains at the door.

It was frozen for Hector, meaning the Zed would lose a ton of farm

And since assassins typically do a lot of dmg, some like zed or talon, do surprisingly high dmg to turrets

I won lane by a very slight margin and i start to outfarm the other adc, following different tips from proguide videos. Sylas and Volibear (mid and jungle respectively) start to pick up lots and lots of completely pointless fights, with no clear idea in mind apart from just wanting to kill people. They were very far ahead and kept engaging into fights while i was just doing my own thing bot and then top, farming whenever there isnt any real objective on the map. They start to go so hard on fights that eventually they die in some of them, instantly spam pinging the guy that is just farming. I just tell them that what they are doing is pointless, we shouldnt fight for drake if they have all 5 there and some of us have not respawned, dont pick losing fights etc.. etc.. they engange anyways, die and just write to report me after game.
I started joining their useless crusade in killing everything and help them out in some fights, but they were so aggressive they started to engage fights that we clearly could have not won.
They completely threw the lead they had (and that i had, since i started following them into fights to not get them even more furious) into the bin and in the end they had the audacity to say in the post game chat stuff like "varus said the n word" and "varus is racist report him" both sylas and volibear (i suppose they were duoing) just to get me reported.
Not sure what else i should have done with these type of people in the game apart from just muting them instantly and just do my own things.
Even muting them doesnt sound like the best outcome since in the eyes of the average league player, if you are farming instead of fighting you are pretty much trolling, so you are probably gonna get reported after game without even knowing it.
Any ideas on how to handle situations like these? x)
I would suggest watching skillcapped's "play selfishly" or whatever the title video but even then it's hard to implement the idea of playing selfishly to get 6 items so you can carry alone because since your team is retarded and dies mindlessly, the enemy team will just push mid and finish the game...So I guess you just take the - lp and queue for another while praying you don't get matched with apes xD
@@dorjjodvo1992 The only thing that comes to my mind is to simply not to apply these advanced tips in low-mid elo and just apply the major macro tips instead: learn how to fully manage your waves and vision control. It would be nice if skillcap makes a video on how to pick up advantages in "sneaky" ways... if you just farm consistently, random people will think you are not joining them in fights.
Instead what is a way to get advantage without your team "noticing"?
That would be very helpful i believe for lots and lots of people since the main factor that does not make people climb i believe is how harsh other people are when you try to think with your brain instead of just mindlessly fight

Simply if there's more of their minions alive I back straight away cause it's a slow push to you or a freeze, both positive outcomes. (if not I think the best play is to slow push or shove if u can, if u can't you shouldn't have killed the enemy in the 1st place)

you can slowpush and rely on the safety of minions if you didn't expend too many resources. This is especially true for top lane. Otherwise just recall and respect TP next time.

Hello. Malphite main here. I'm not exactly a good player and possibly everything I say is completely wrong, but this is what I feel after playing a bunch of Malphite.
DO NOT ROAM, at least when Malphite has R. Literally his only way to come back into the game is to hit a big ult and set up a win for his team. Outside of a teamfight, Malphite is useless. Freezing is indeed a good idea, especially since top lane is very long and you have plenty of space to run him down in a 1v1.
Just keep this in mind for all teamfighting tanks, not just Malphite (Ornn, Sion, Cho'Gath, etc.). However frustrated you are that you can't kill the meatball in lane, your opponent will only be more frustrated than you because they can't do the one thing their champ is built to do. If your opponent is stuck in lane tanking you, he's not tanking or engaging the rest of your team. That's why in the lategame against tanks, you really want to split push.
@@aerialkiller5948 yeah roaming has never worked for me because the tank just gains levels alongside you and is more useful in team fights. Splitting also feels bad though because you can't really take turrets when malphite is chilling underneath them.
@@burritogod59 Of course you can't actually take the turret. But your team has an exponentially better chance of winning a teamfight if they don't have a Malphite to ult your whole team. Again, no matter how sad you are seeing the Malphite chilling under turret, the Malphite is even more sad chilling under turret instead of helping his team. Also, the Malphite will have absolutely no prio or power in the sidelane, so you can just perma shove then take time to take jungle camps, set vision around drag/baron, and be faster to rotate to fights.
@@aerialkiller5948 very good point at the end there. Setting up vision, rotating faster, and taking jg camps. That is an advantage that I would have. Keeping us both in the sidelane doesnt help by itself if my team is losing. Thanks for helping me work through that situation.

I know it's not great for advertising, but I think they most certainly could make a video congratulating him on the progress he DID make. Even if the experiment kinda failed. I do think it was waaaaaaay too much to ask for though in the first place. These challenger level players just think too much that all of these low elo players are the same. From their perspective it's hard to see the different levels of complete trash, so they thought it'd be possible, but that's just my 2 cents haha

I was playing urgot top once vs a sett and after 5mins I was 0 3 thought I lost the game lmao but the sett COMPLETLY LEFT the lane perma roaming so I farmed for free like 15mins and when I got 3 items at 0 3 I could 1v2 their botlane lmao free win

Honestly stupid risks like this by my jungle and mid after we got such an early lead has made me lost my last 3 ranked games. Then at some point they just don’t get why the other team is coming back and they start saying aram mid we have an inhibitor down we can end, I just cry and die inside as all my work as a sup goes down the drain cause they never listen to the sup.

@@dorjjodvo1992 Not actually a CM main XD just a good picture from years ago, always been more of a STR pos 3 heros for utility or melee agi heroes pos 1 like slark or jug, riki, meepo along time ago etc. I like the changes in the game, I think the match progression is a lot more smooth that in chunks like the last patch with the outpost and bounty rune changes. Also always been a fan of new pathing options and warding spots so that the map actually feels fresh every year too. I think the movement speed cap nerfs are the best this patch though. The game already has much larger skill ranges so being able to just fly across the map without really being punished too hard for a bad tp is something I'm happy to see go. It'll be a lot harder for teams to just sweep side to side on the map all game for 30min straight and just win.

@@dorjjodvo1992 Oh i don't jungle in league. I tried it for a month and I think it's boring as all hell especially with the map being mirrored. It's the same gank timings to watch out for every game in all elos pretty much.

Skill Capped called out the issues with these Hector smurf videos: That at the end of the day Hector is a challenger player smurfing in low ELO. Heck, even Hector is frustrated and you can hear it in clips. If Hector has to work that hard to get the content there is a problem with the setup. Stop having Hector smurf and have him take on some challenges in an appropriate level of play.
But there are no other alternatives tho, if he doesn't smurf in low elo we can't have educational videos like this so Hector just has to deal with that reality... And honestly I am sure he's being paid to do it so it's whatever
@@dorjjodvo1992 It would be more eductional to see coaching videos to address this problem imo. A lot of this comes down to way more than just wave management and general decision making. Hector gets kills because he understands the laning phase better, and that's just a fact.

It was hard for me to take note as this guide basically says use common sense, feel like it's something you gain through experience, guides, coaches or re-evauluating your own games and noticing these mistakes. Overall this guide just tells me to replay my videos, realize my mistakes, find a solution to the mistakes.
I think low elo people throw their leads easily just because most of the time they are auto-piloting and dont think that much just because they have been in that lead for most of their games and they just assume the opponents cannot utilize the advantages that they are getting based on the mistakes the players whos ahead is making. Hector is a god because he is exploiting and have the ability to extend on the mistake made by the low elo players while the average player in that elo just always make it a coin-toss

Okay, imagine the champion wasn't a fizz and could't towerdive a viktor. Then what?
Freeze against them, u lure them to come out. If they still don’t come out they will miss out on cs and will be down in lvl and Cs in general. Force them out of the range where they can earn xp if the minions die and if he dosen’t back up you can punish him for it and possibly kill him. 15-20 cs = a kill. Playing safe is meant so u don’t give the enemy laner more kills than he already has. But if the guy playing safe is losing too much cs it can equal several kills even if they aren’t actually dying. You can also slow push the wave if your jungler is doing his camps on your side of the map and prepare for a tower dive with him.
@@astral9022 That is not how the game works. If you know you're being frozen on and your jungler will not come to help then your best response to freezing is roaming to a different lane. Trying to permanently freeze a lane sounds good and certainly your lead against your opposing laner will increase initially, but that's not the whole story. If your recognizes A) they cannot fight the you B) you are freezing and C) his jungler won't help him reset, then his best decision is to roam while you freeze. Whichever lane he roams to minimally hurts your teammates causing them to fall behind if they are able to avoid getting killed by the roam but they too will suffer from being denied gold and experience, and if they give the kill, then you could actually lose your gold lead while your teammates fall behind.
The safest way to create a lead that does not allow your teammates to get screwed over is to slow push a large minion wave to tower and then dive and kill the laner trying to collect the wave. You have effectively eliminated the reason why your opponent would want to roam, prevented your teammates from dying to your opposing laner, presented yourself with the opportunity to dive or freely roam or buy, and created a situation where it's likely your opposing jungler/support/laner needs to be around to prevent your dive effectively putting your teammates at a 4v3 advantage on the map with the possibility of a 5v3 while the guard and behind guy are trying to collect farm under tower.
