OK, I found these at a local WallyMart yesterday.
For the life of me, these things are 100% functionable, useful, tools.
They dont have bells and whistles, but if you need a knife to cut and work, and not need one to be pocket jewelry, these do it.
I swear, these remind me so much of the Schrade-Imperial Sodbuster and other folding knives. Sub 10$ and 100% useful.
Folks, you really DONT have to spend $300 on a knife to open boxes and cut ropes or slice an apple.

I, personally, refuse to pay more than about $80 for a folder and that is going to have to be a serious folder. Maybe I'm missing out but I will likely never own a Benchmade, Microtech, etc. because I won't pay those prices. There are too many good, interesting knives out there that aren't priced as if they were forged from mithril by master Dwarven smiths under the mountains.
I'm not a knife maker, either but lately I have been seriously wondering about - just for my own use - buying a few of these 'cheap' knives, choosing my favorites, taking them apart, using stock reduction to create a copy of the blades out of good steel and reassembling them using those blades. I'm not talking about using unobtainium or some, other super steel. I'd be more likely to go with a 1095 or other, similar high carbon.

@JAB671 Couldn't agree more! I am the same way. I'm a knife reseller, and I've literally structured my entire business for many years around the fact that you can get many incredible knives for under $80-100. Heck, the majority of our best sellers are under $30-$40.
Knives are slow moving, and most definitely a volume based business. I got into it because I've always had a love for them, and all of the design possibilities. I am no longer a graphic designer, because that industry led me into a corporate corner. I still enjoy being able to get creative, slowly morphing into a knife designer.
The price of these knives are basically wholesale, and I am shocked at how low walmart is able to sell these for. They can't be earning more than a buck or two in profit, for what they've put together here. Awesome value!

I have been EDC'ing the black tanto since 12/26... house hopping over the holiday vacation at different family member homes. Living out of a sleeping bag. Great EDC, zero complaints. I am also traveling with Cold steel voyager XL tanto. For this cheapo to completely replace and forget says more than anything. The best thing about it is the action. Smooth ball bearings, strong detent, outstanding flipper / thumb stud deployment. The blade gravity closes too with just a little "nudge". I am mainly using it to open christmas gift packages and even a little food prep.
GOT MINE!!!... went to a WM 30 minutes away near my work. GREAT set!!. The black tanto has a hollow cheap kind of feel and sound. I filled the plastic scales with jb weld. Gives it more mass and less hollow feel / sound. The bearings are a little gritty out of the box. Tear down and clean with isopropyl alcohol... really smooth now. Tip up or down doesnt matter at all to me. Merry christmas Jeff & Christina.

These are great knives for what you paid, especially the blue one. I just watched BirdshotIV buying a bunch of Ozark Trails. There were 1or 2 ok-ish ones, especially for the price.
I can only dream of a time when we could do this easier here in the UK, i still can with kitchen knives, big kitchen knives but a little 3" locking folder!!😮 Off to the gulag with you!
I always perfer tip down. When I pinch and pull out it's perfect to open with a flipper. The only tip up knives I like are wave able ones since it's the only way it works. But tip down is a must for me. Now on a budget knife that's good.....I don't let it stop me from buying it.
I live in Phoenix AZ and have 2 Walmarts near me I will have to check both of them so far I'm pleased Ozark trail knives

On my CRKT M16-03BS (frame lock and 12C27) I like the tip down carry position for the pocket clip, makes it feel much better in the hand, as the clip covers the frame lock.
Maybe the people hating on tip down just don't have decent finger dexterity. When I grab it at the pivot with my thumb and index finger it turns itself into my hand while I am pulling it out, with tip up you gotta reposition your fingers which actually takes longer and it also is annoying to handle. lol
This would definitely be a set I'd pick up if mine had one.
There is a second 6 piece set that is similar but not the same. It has a compass caribiner and a credit card multitool, the same bit set and the knives have the same blades but the handles/locks are different

You could easily say those 3 knives are $3 each. I've seen those bit sets for $1.99 to $2.99 and lets say the carabiner is $.99 to $1.99 and we've all seen those sharpeners for like $2.99. That actually puts the 3 knives at more closely like $3 each or LESS!! pretty cool set for the $$! No matter how you slice up the pricing (yes, pun intended lol) it's a great deal.
Would one of the wrench holes on the caribiner work as a driver for the bits?

I'm a tip down guy because I prefer to carry my knife in my left pocket.
I'm in western PA and our Walmarts have the typical selection like kershaws. CRKT Fossil, some Victorinox and Case. I think we do have those bundles including the SOG bundle that you see. The best deal I got from Walmart was getting a classic Buck 110 with the wood and brass for 15 bucks out the door on sale. It's funny because if you go to their main site, they have Benchmades ranging up past 200 dollars and Spydercos like PM2's and Delicas. I wish they'd have some of those knives in stores lol
got my first good knife, spyderco tenacious at a local walmart (so some do carry SOME good knives) and got it for 35$ (everything in the case was being marked down-about the time they were taking guns out of the stores)....

My biggest issue with tip down is if the knife is assisted. That just seems dangerous to me. But if the knife isn’t assisted but is still tip down, it’s just ugly in my opinion.

Those bit sets have been around forever, my dad bought a bunch of those when I was a kid 25 years ago but they were yellow.
I mostly see them in black though whenever I'm at a yardsale that just happens to have a few crappy cheap tools.
Btw my Walmart doesn't actually happen to really have any of the center isle displays of gift items, at least not for the tool section and not in the sporting goods section.

Tip up or down isn't a big deal to me. Carried both over the years even if most of my knives are tip up. That seems like a cool little set, especially considering that one of them even comes with bearings.

I picked up those first two axis locks you reviewed. I definitely like the clip point with blue collar better. This is the first two foreign manufacturer knives since the Walmart knife last year that ive purchased.
I got this set. I was thinking I would like the blue one, but the blade tip is too close to the bottom of the handle and actually cuts my hand very often when I flick it closed. I understand how to use knives, I have maybe hundreds, and have many with slide locks like this one, but none of those cut my hand when closing. The blade tip needs to be just a little shorter, or the handle longer. Very disappointing. I ended up really liking the black one though. It has extremely smooth action. At least mine does. You can never tell with Ozark Trail's quality control.
Got one for my mom lol. We are outdoor people but my dang mom will lose everything in the box by spring 😂😂 shes not a big knife person like myself, ut she still carrys a knife or at least keeps one in the truck so these should work fine and they are cheap for when she loses or breaks them lol. I gave her a zt 0350 knife a couple years back for her birthday and she liked the knife, even gutted her buck eith it that year but unfortunately she lost it while bear hunting in the woods along with a pair of 600 dollar binoculars i bought her😂😂😂
It absolutely amazes me what that darn Chinese army can do! I love these knives. I make knives and I've used some of the Walmart knives for patterns and templates. This set is another must have. Looks like two local supercenters has these in stock. Thanks for the videos!

Nice, my local store doesnt have these. I like that ball bearing pivot tanto. I still EDC the red bearing model from 2 years ago. The bearings really give it a different feel. I can go either way tip up or down, it's just not a factor to me at all. I do pull my knife out of my pocket as you show gripping the clip end area. I think the carribeaner clip tool accepts the screwdriver bit extension.
I wonder if you can swap the bearings from the black Tanto knife with the washers from the blue crossbar knife? Also, did you notice that the multi-tool is in the shape of a sleigh? On a different combo pack, the multi-tool was in the shape of a reindeer.

I find carrying tip down a lot more convenient. Putting my hand all the way down in my pocket is kind of annoying to me, and I always have to adjust it awkwardly after opening the knife from tip up.

I bought a basic liner lock knife from walmart (I thinknit was Ozark Trail branded too) and it is quite impressive for $5.
Unfortunately, there is a dealbreaker - the plastic scales are actually white plastic that have been painted FDE.
This means that the knife will start to look shabby very quickly as the paint wears off during use.
It's a pity, because if the scales were solid color all the way through, it would be a decent knife.
