I don't care much for punk rock, but I do like this cutting edge thousand year leap in musical genius. Devo is one of the most brilliant musical groups of the century. Right up there with The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and anybody else that might want to challenge them.
230 beats a minute, start to finish, from the Human Metronome. Alan Myers was just the most incredible drummer. Also a great recovery by Mark with "girlies-faction' at 1:15.
Spot on. I play the drums and have to say that his ability to hold the BPM while playing crazy patterns is just impressive. Devo had a bunch of talented guys. For sure one of the most underrated bands ever.
@Barry7777777 Actually, Devo have used a fair amount of sequencing and programming on their records and in concert. They also started incorporating drum machines around the time of "New Traditionalists" in 1981. By the time of 1984's "Shout," all beats (and virtually everything else) were programmed in the Fairlight synth-computer, which is one of the reasons drummer Alan Myers left the band. I, personally, don't think programming and sequencing is a bad thing, I'm just sayin'...
J'ai gardé pendant env.20 ans "a little piece of Mark Motherbaugh combinaison"...merci Antoine Decaunes et Chorus.
Yeah man, Devo is a group you either love, or really hate. One great thing about them is that they could play techno without ANY automated crap - every single thing they do is played manually, except of course for some of the synth arpeggios. No other band has done that to my knowledge.
@PAULLONDEN just because roxy and eno were a big influence doesn't mean he had a big influence on the recording of the record at all, and besides the songs were already fully formed before eno's input. they weren't pupils needing to be schooled and if they were, they were worse off for it in my opinion, their 70's stuff is vastly superior to FOC onwards, give me the hardcore stuff any day
It's a video recording..a lot was like that when starting record button, also anywhere else where the tracking goes a bit wonky. Would love to see an official release of this gig, and also the Ramones when they appeared on Chorus in France.

I Think he says "Girly Suction"
1:51 holy crap... talented vocals there X D
How is this possible?
It’s a melisma hours of practice
Rest in peace Bob and Alan.
Long live Devolution.
I love Gerald Casale's robotic movements.
what a magical time period!!
i love Devo
every aspect of this is awesome...the awkward drumbeat, the Benny Hill jerky movements, the bass line, the 3 guitars and the vocals
stop. youve said enough.
Yeah maybe but it took him almost 12 years to say that much by the time you showed up to dazzle the crowd🤪🤨🎸🥁🔥😶
I was here!A fantastic gig ..Bizarre electronic new punk era .Very good visual concept with great musicians . Good memories in Paris.
RIP Bob Casale :( You will be terribly missed !!!
I cant get enough!
@MagikDick It was pretty amazing. Fantastic cover. They made an iconic song all their own. They were very cool, very punk at the time.

Wow, I didn't expect to hear a few seconds of an XTC song before this performance (it's in the first 4 seconds, it's titled "Beatown.")
Muito Bom! Banda Nervosa!
Wow
45 years later and the fan in red that jumped on stage is still stealing the show 😂😂😂
if only for that awesome drum beat, this has to be the most devolved devo song
Machines
If you really think about how many guitars it took to record this.
Amen.
@blickumblickum yeah and it's bob 2's moment to shine!
J'étais, ils étaient passes la veille au Palace.
Ces types sont arrivés 20 ans trop tôt

thi is class cover. not anywhere as weird as the residents cover of this song, that cover is nuts
Alan Myers was quick, wasn't he. Incredible meter as well.
Sa-TIS-fac-TION!
Sa-TIS-fac-TION!
2:50 of fun, after early 70's "progressive rock"...!!!
I'm sure Mick Jagger could have ended DEVO's career with one stroke of a lawyer's pen. What a great cover version!
M.J Edwards Jagger said this was his favourite cover of Satisfaction, Keith likes Otis Redding's.
They actually met mick and he fucking loved it
They auditioned it for him. Eventually Mick danced to it.
00:50 mick jagger in the red blouse dancing upfront
Absolutely badass trend setters

purely by accident i just found out that the music at the opening of this video is 'beatown' by xtc
I love XTC and you stole my thunder :(

Amazing :D sounds like an old school game or something.

What’s the song in the first few seconds

i prefer this to the residents cover, i think this sounds backwards, the residents cover just makes me laugh quietly to myself
aye i agree. the residents cover is just a joke, i think its meant to spawn that feeling haha
So odd to see Mark playing guitar, even if he does it for a tiny bit. Odd, yet cool.
That is not a deevo's cover
dare to be stupid. weird al.
