I didn't get properly diagnosed till 47, Even though my mom was told earn I was in first grade, I had ADD. Being 2E WITH ADHD and no prior treated diagnosis as an adult, males it 4 times as hard to get diagnosed. Throw in RSD and my diagnosis were all over the place. Better late than never, but I imagine what magnet school and college scholarships would have been like. On top of better relationships, more friends, being a better dad, better job stability, no being on disability and those intrusive suicidal ideations. But I made it through and can help my son and others
Yep, we made it through, learned some harsh lessons and can now pass that knowledge & experience forward to smooth out the path for others. Rick of RenaFi.com
I am 34 and just discovered I'm 2e. I knew I was gifted in school. I made good grades and was in the gifted and talented program, however, I just got officially diagnosed with ADHD 5 years ago. Looking back all the signs of ADHD were there since I was little, but my mom didn't know much about that stuff and I just didn't get diagnosed. All of this makes so much sense to me now. I still struggle to this day with functioning socially and with basic tasks because of my severe untreated ADHD.
You have so many compensating capabilities. This is one reason that many of us are late diagnosed. The positive side is that now those same positive compensating factors can help us accept and take the actions necessary to thrive. Rick of RenaFi.com
You just shared my exact story. Diagnosed adhd 2 years ago.., But life has kicked my tail the past year… It’s like my emotional stuff is getting harder to manage… mask… survive. I’m looking for help to learn more so I can cope better.
Depression and anxiety are not constants. If you're having bouts of those, then you're also 2E in those bouts. Not otherwise. Imo it should be autism, dyslexia etc, as these "conditions" are constant.
The gap between the huge, complex ideas in my head and the desire to act on them and the ability to do them is excruciating.

I agree. Physically based conditions are constant. However, the symptoms can vary widely depending on the surrounding environment. Rick of RenaFi.com
