  • Emory is at the forefront in advancing minimally invasive spine surgery. Spine surgery is traditionally performed through major incisions -- about 7 inches. This predisposed the patient to infections, scarring, and pain. Now, using advanced imaging techniques -- such as 3D Navigation, Emory spine surgeons are able to perform spine surgery through a 1 or 2 inch incision.

I had my spine surgery for Pars Defect Repair at Emory Midtown with Dr. Rodt's. He is an amazing spine surgeon and highly recommended. Trust me, I checked out every top spine program and chose Emory because of this doctor!

I am very interested in getting a minimally invasive surgery for my spinal stenosis. I would prefer removal of bone spurs, ligament tissue, etc. rather than have a laminectomy. I would consider a laminotamy (partial bone removal without need for screws/stabilization). It is hard to assess such procedures based on videos and website claims.
