A note about Shatner's toupees: These were very high-end, expensive hair pieces, bought and owned by the production company and they were replaced every season. Why were they replaced? Because they mysteriously 'disappeared' at the end of each season. It is rumored that Shatner had a bit of sticky fingers syndrome.
Haha, I don't blame Shatner at all! Those toupees were glorious. But as you can tell from a few of the episodes, they were also very fragile. He seemed to find a permanent solution with his hair transplants (even updating them recently), but I'm so glad Star Trek benefited from its captain's finest hair.
Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball divorced in 1960. Lucy bought out Desi's share of Desilu in 1962. Desi maintained an office on the lot for another 2 years occasionally consulting with Lucy and running his own independent production company. Desi's only connection to Star Trek was handing over his office at the studio to Herb Solow who had been hired by Desilu as VP in charge of production in 1964. Solow worked very closely with Roddenberry with the development of Star Trek and the sales pitch to NBC.
I knew by the time Star Trek was rolling that Desi was out of the picture, but didn't know this Desilu inside info. I wish I had name checked Solow in the episode (after all, he invented the whole Star Date/flashback concept!), but it always takes hundreds of people to make a series work, and Star Trek was very lucky it had the right mix across the board. Thanks, Hal!
If you watch TV shows from the late 60s and early 70s that take place during the actual time frame, the Brady Bunch, the Partridge family other shows of that time frame you will see that the dresses were indeed almost that short dresses were very short in the late 60s and early 70s.I know because I was there and I was wearing them because I’m in my mid 60s.
Actually, there was a story in Pravda that said how come in the future they’re not working with Russians. That’s when they started looking into having this additional character of Chekhov
Beyond The rim of the star-light My love Is wand'ring in star-flight I know He'll find in star-clustered reaches Love, Strange love a star woman teaches. know His journey ends never His star trek Will go on forever. But tell him While he wanders his starry sea Remember, remember me
The lyrics were written by Roddenberry as a cash grab. It meant that Roddenberry would be entitled to half the royalties every time the theme music was played even though the lyrics were never used. Alexander "Sandy" Courage, who wrote the original them music was understandably very upset about this and he and Roddenberry never spoke again. Roddenberry could be a real dick sometimes.

Cannot wait or Pt 2!
Thank you! We jump into lots of different episodes in Part 2, and it's SO much fun!

Beyond
The rim of the star-light
My love Is wand'ring in star-flight
I know
He'll find in star-clustered reaches
Love,
Strange love a star woman teaches.
know
His journey ends never
His star trek
Will go on forever.
But tell him
While he wanders his starry sea Remember, remember me
HAHA! Yes, the only lyrics that could possibly match that bonkers music! We talk about the theme song in Part Two. Thanks, Rey!
I memorized that when I was a little Trekkie.
