beautiful .. just beautiful .. just the right lilt in that gorgeous jazz-waltze. I think I prefer flugel horn 2 trumpet. And wot can one say of "Gentleman Jim" may he now rest in peace. Now back 2 study 4 me😂🤣😂
fortunately for all of us there is a music teacher in a place called Wollongong NSW who is tutoring his students in these styles, one has a quiet chuckle when you see these young people play with maturity beyond their years
Don't worry, TONS and TONS of people like this around today. You can literally get a college degree in this now and come out playing like the greats. I hope this information completely erases your worries.
lambdaman The autocorrect messed my comment. Yes I live sadly far from where gathering to play music is natural as drinking water. And I hate it cause I see there are hundreds of acts in so many cities in places like the U.S. I’m a fish surviving in a seemingly endless field of grass.
@@javiceres Yeah you'd be surprised at how many people are keeping this tradition alive. There is a weird duality today though because this style of jazz (pre-fusion) is definitely archaic nowadays, so people playing in this style are playing a 'pastiche'. I'm not saying that as a bad thing at all, I'm personally not that big into what jazz became after the late 50s/early 60s, so I'm definitely stuck in a time capsule when it comes to jazz!
So glad this is preserved and that we can learn something from watching how Jim Hall created the magic. What a lyrical solo!!!
A drummer who listens and plays at an appropriate volume. 😵💫
La química entre Art Farmer y Jim Hall era de una delicadeza inigualable. Respeto por cada nota tocada. Alto vuelo musical
Art Farmer what a pleasure, should be more recognized IMO
The drummer really stirs the sauce well.
xD
Jesus that’s some amazing sound

True, but I didn’t hear many clunkers from Farmer either.
Terrific ! This race is under to die out , one by one , without relief..

lambdaman To my knowledge that’s how it is now. *Edited
@@javiceres You just don't live where these folks perform. In NYC they're EVERYWHERE. A dime a dozen.
It's always been this way.

Hey, Im a gannon too, and have been listening to Jim Hall for many years. I know we all miss him. To me he will always be the greatest...
Jim is using a damper at the nut. Never seen that on older recordings.

Is that a flugel or a flumpet?
flugelhorn I think
@@JAZZODUC13 you're right, apparently he didn't get the flumpet until much later.
Flugel horn is perfect for Jazz
Nice, who wrote this ??
composed by Sergio Mihanovich
