tbh when i think of stuff that takes up tons of freezer space i think of bulk frozen food not two little trays of ice but, what do i know. having my ice slightly smaller wouldn't really even solve much

actually i think it saves space by standing up, which is an orientation not many can fit into (because you dont put shit on top of your ice trays and it causes unused space above them)
though its total garbage so id never get it

@@chrism7067 once our ice is totally solid we'll put stuff on top of them , during fall and winter we use ice a bit less but its not too hard to wiggle the tray out from something light. And having it upright would only work for some freezers. mine is one of those thin side freezers that has cubbies so there's only one or two it could fit standing towards the floor- but yeah. I do like seeing cool kitchen gadgets but this isn't one of them.

I think what really makes this a contender is that the entire thing kept falling apart when he tried to use it. The below contenders are awful or useless, but the general result of using them is, "huh, this doesn't really work that well" rather than, "this is a piece of junk that is falling apart while I use it."
      • The USB dishwasher
These don't work any better than soaking.
      • The "topless" can opener
Even if it worked perfectly, I would remain skeptical that this product is useful.
      • Insta-hang
I'm not a fan of shelves that randomly fall.
      • Kitchen scrubbing gloves
This wasn't as dumb an idea as potato peeler gloves, but it's still pretty bad.

I have had a problem with the dollar store ice trays. The hard plastic tends to become brittle when frozen and that can cause them to crack. But I've found an ice tray that works better than any other that I've ever used. It's shaped pretty much like a standard tray, although the ice cubes are shaped more like actual cubes. It is made out of silicone, the same kind that silicone bakware is made from. It also fills, cracks and empties like a standard tray. The only downside to it is that it can be a bit floppy and can spill when you try to transfer it to the freezer. But I simply fill it sitting on a cutting board and carry it to the freezer while still on the board, and then slide it right off onto the bottom of the freezer, easy peasy. Though I don't know how well that would work with your freezer drawer thingie.

My dad has this huge German Shepard and he lives in a pretty rural subdivision, so they have huge yards and the neighbors are pretty far apart, by not too much, anyway he lets his dog run free and one day he came home with a new friend, she looks JUST like Bailey and her name is Bailey, but she's about 20 pounds heavier and she come in the house w Ranger and gets treats. After a few months of her coming and Ranger going my dad met her owner and now they're good friends. Too cute. Ranger goes to her house and gets fed and treats too, no wonder they're both fat, they figured out how to get twice the treats and twice the food! LOLOL!!

Target has a great plastic ice tray for $4 with deep cube indents & a tray cover. Stackable with lid. Fits on top of ice bin.
    13 &1/4" L x 5 & 3/16" W x 1 & 15/16" H. It's my favorite since the old quality 1's that came with older fridge/freezers with good size cubes.

It's just plain easier to use traditional ice trays but if you want to save space in your freezer or don't like to deal with ice trays then get one of those water dispensers that has a built-in ice maker which seems to work pretty good from what I've seen and hold a reasonable amount of ice in them. They're pricey I admit but if you're lucky you can find one available on sites like Amazon that would have them for sale for almost the same amount a bottom filled water dispenser would cost.
In my experience it's been pretty convenient for me since I would fill my knockoff yeti tumbler with ice by scooping my cup in and then fill it up with water without having to refill an ice tray with water and carry it with a steady hand over the freezer.

Hi James, you mentioned the ice breaker pop in your vlog. I ordered one and got sent a knockoff of this product that doesn't work and one of the handles broke. They do send replacement handles so it seems they anticipated them breaking. Just be aware of this if ordering one. It looked great when you tried it but the knockoff is trash.
