- Here I put JConcepts Golden Years tire on the JConcepts Tribute wheels.
JConcepts Tribute wheels #3377S
JConcepts Golden Years tires (Blue compound) #3183-01
The JConcepts wheels (I think) come in 4 colors & you can choose how wide an off-set you want (3 choices in the bag). I think you can paint the wheels (and planetary covers) also (seen videos of guys doing it) if you want a color combo or a different color altogether. JConcepts also sells, again, I think, glue on faux bead locks in a few color choices to really mix things up & create your own color combo's.
The Golden Years tires are very soft to the touch, much softer than stock Clod tires (JConcepts make a few different styles of tires, not just chevron treaded tires). Now the fun part, take them apart, clean them, put them back together & glue them, fun, fun!!
So, what ones look the best as a tire/wheel combo thus far?
What would be your choice?
Pro: JConcepts Wheels & Tires look fantastic
Cons: JConcepts Wheels/Tires seem to only work with JConcepts Wheels & Tires.... Does anyone know different? Let me know...
Thank You for reading & Watching, please leave your thoughts & comments.
Oh yes mate, you always need to have easy access to your nuts! Good thinking there, Bob! Looks like you will be getting plenty of traction from those sticky new tyres! My vote goes for the J Concept tyres. Always a thumbs up from me, brother, especially as you said "serrated nuts"!!!! :O)
Man, now they have a deal for 4 wheels and 4 tires for $85 bucks off the website, jconcepts.net The combos can be had with different tires and I think wheel colors too. For me, it's a jar of mixed nuts, LOL. I just don't know what truck I'll put the new wheels/tires on.
Love opening new pack of tires, especially one I haven't used before. Great comparison and some good ideas and tips 👍🏻 The J Concepts look great to me. Look forward to your thoughts on the comparison 👍🏻
Thanks mate!! Tires stuck in the bag a little, they are soft & sticky.
I love those wheels. They look so scale to the monster trucks
I forgot to mention that the wheels fit 12mm hex, so they work on a lot of other trucks like the SMT-10.
Sweet looking tires Bob👌😀
Thanks Peter, I'm trying to decide which tires look best, guess I'll have to wait and try them on a few trucks...
Hi there Bob, I just love a good screwdriver. I purchased a similar Snap-On ratchet screwdriver, oh…must be…30 years ago, I had to have the ratchet changed on it, but this was performed under the ‘lifetime’ guarantee, still using it today, one of my go to screwdrivers. Those wheels and tyres look great. Best wishes to you and the family 😊😊
Hi John, yes Snap-On & Mac (and others) have a lifetime warranty on most of their hand tools. 30 years ago, you must have been a teenager. I would love to take 30 years off my age right now but I would still be in my late 20's, LOL. Best wishes to you & yours mate!!
@@UncleBobsRC hi there Bob, thank you for the kind compliment, but I would have been 22 years old, oh those were the days. 😊😉🖐️
Hi Bob. I like the JConcepts ones but that might be because they're new hehe. Would probably use the Prolines if I was racing. Great video buddy. To right dude, I definitely don't want to lose mu nuts 🤣😂😱 looking forward to seeing them in action.
Thanks Rob!!! Not sure what truck these will go on atm. As of now, JConcepts sells a Wheel & Tire combo for $85, that's a lot less than the @ $150 when buying 2 of each at a time (different tire styles & wheel colors too, I think). Check out RC Monster Truck Challenge OR Trigger King RC on UA-cam. Kevin and I are thinking of doing a Retro Clods but first, I'm doing a Brushless Clod build at some point. ATB my friend and stay safe!!!
I forgot to mention that the wheels fit 12mm hex, so they work on a lot of other trucks like the SMT-10
hello there where can get the same ratchet what is the make and part number of the tool ????
I got those from Mac Tool when I worked as an auto tech.. You can probably find a cheaper set at a chain store or auto parts store... If you must have a Mac set, either on-line or find a Mac Tool Truck at a garage.. I got the bit set however, they don't come with JIS bits..
HELLO THERE DID YOU BUY JIS BITS HEX BITS ?????
@ Tamiya sells a tool set that works great, Tamiya #74085 from Amazon or a hobby retailer. These are just hand tools.
Oh man those look nice ❤ cool video my friend. Now I need a monster truck dang it 😂. Have a great weekend man. I like the new jconcepts probably because they look chunkier and new. Those stock look pretty darn good honestly just kinda flat?? Still good though! I’m voting for the new
Thanks brother... I had plans for a couple of styles of tires... But, I would have to buy a lot of wheels (stock Tamiya Clod Buster wheels) & tires to do it. JConcepts wheels or tires only fit JConcepts wheels or tires. I think thats 2 votes for the JConcepts wheels & tires.
Looks alone I think the J Concepts ones look the best. It is hard to beat the cool classic look of the Clos wheels and tires but they did a good job with them. The ProLine tires are probably great for racing being lower profile and not wanting to bounce as much but I am not a fan of the looks of them.
That's why I went with the Golden Years tires (cause the tires I wanted to get won't fit the wheels), old school looking tires on a old school looking truck (Yes, I was going to put them on the Gray Edition Clod). If you haven't seen RC Monster Truck Challenge or Trigger King, watch a few videos (maybe you shouldn't, it might give you ideas, those can be bad). Both the Pro-line's & JConcepts have foams, back in the day when I raced Clods, I used (a lot of guys too) Imex Pulling tires, we shaved down the edges and put four half inch holes in stock Clod wheels with no foams. Tamiya Clod Buster, the Lego* of RC Monster Trucks.
Curious 🧐 if Jconcepts tires can fit stock Clodbuster wheels? I am partial to the chrome look lol.
No, they do not.. JConcepts tires only fit JConcepts wheels.
Do you have the part #’s for JC wheels?

JConcept wheels are smaller that Clod/Bullhead wheels
The j concepts look more like the good year 66” and the proline look more like the Firestone 66’s
Hi Thad, after getting the wheels, my plans for them went down hill because I wanted to use some Imex Baja tires on the wheels. However, Imex uses the same diameter bead as the stock Clod (or TXT-1 & maybe Juggernaut) wheels & tires. The Pro-Line wheels (I don't think they make anymore) are a 2 piece wheel & fixed off-set (+17.5mm off set I think). RC4WD makes a set of true bead lock wheels in 2.6", the Ignitor wheels, good for about all Clod size tires (except maybe the JConcepts tires, smaller bead). Either way, it's about $150 bucks for a set of wheels & tires. I got carried away, sorry, I went with the JConcepts Golden Years tires cause they look old school, they make other tires even some non-chevron treaded tires (great for a drag Clod) but ugly as shit to me........ Thanks for the view & comment dude!!! I seen your videos (and shorts- EYES & EARS man) I just can't comment when I watch through the TV via PS4.
like them all,the J Concepts do look better
Thanks Duke!!!!
