    Im looking at the 160m as a starter for my klipsch. Hopefully I will use them for surround later. What are your thoughts on the 150s as a whole?

    I know this review is old, but I loved the content. I just recently purchased a pair of RP-150Ms to be my primary speakers. Planning to move into a Travel Trailer or Motor Home, so I am downsizing. I am hoping these speakers will work in the RV environment.

    Hey bro, do the 150M's rock the same tweeter as the 280F's? Also, have you heard the svs ultra book shelfs? I'm all about tower speakers as your fronts but I'm hearing these ultra book shelfs are ridiculous. You think they would make for good fronts or stick to some nice towers? If klipsch didn't exist, for 1000 bucks (give or take a couple hundred) which towers would you go with? Thanx as always!!

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  6 років тому

      Hi! I got the 150Ms for surrounds. Then I got the 280Fs for fronts. Check out Definitive Technology 9060 or 9080. I would go with Martin Logan's, but they are $2k each, lol!

    Hey great videos at last some one that talk more like "life experience" vs just doing a review.
    Any way, question. I'm trying to make my Game Room a full atmos Game Room (system 5.1.4 Movies, Gaming & Music) so I will say is a mid size room. I was thinking to use R-15m x4, with a R-15c, RIC-65 x4 in ceiling and I have now a R-10SW sub. But then I was thinking maybe front Towers will sound better for movies, so maybe R-24F or R-26F. But maybe for the room will be too much. Any way so I change my mind and maybe stay in the bookshelf family but with RP-150M x4 and RP-250C. Based on your set up Front Book shelf or Towers or the RP-150M will do for, Movies, Gaming & Music good enough? I'm concern about wasting extra money if I will have to keep it low... or if will be overwhelming...
    Thanks

    Hey Techno Dad, I’m in the process of piece mealing my Klipsch 5.1.2 as you stated you did in this video. I currently have the RP280FA ( I know you don’t approve of upfiring vs ceiling mount, but it works with my room), and the RP450C. I’m looking to get some surrounds next and was curious if the 150Ms would match well with the 280s or I would need to upgrade to the 160Ms. Room size is medium. Thanks for your time!

      Hi! The 150Ms will do just fine! I don't think you really NEED 6.5" woofers for surrounds. It is up to you though. If you want them there, go for it!

    I have another question.. I have the rp-600m... If I were to use them as rear channels in my 7.2.4, you think it would be OK to have them both sideways with the horns on the inside and the driver on the outside would that mess up thier imaging capabilities?

    Isn't the lower model R15 enough for surround? After all, the surround speakers only work for special effects, 90% of the movie action is played by frontal speakers

      Hi George! Yes, those R15s will work just fine for surrounds. I personally wanted the surround speakers to have the same horn & tweeter as all my other speakers.

    I've had also the klipsch rp280 and the 150m. I find them good but I don't liked the small sweet spot and it sounds a little bit 'metallic'.
    How do you see that?

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  6 років тому

      I use the RP280f now. I sold these 150Ms. As I watch a lot of movies and TV, I don't notice it being metallic. I know the Reference line was always bright and harsh. On this Reference Premier line, they added a rubber surround to take down the harshness.

    Thanks for the video.
    Actually, what you are describing is exactly what I'm planning to do. Currently have a 2.1 soundbar (+ sub) and I think it's the time to invest in some proper speakers. Planning on getting a Denon AVR (no clue which model yet though, probably X3300) and getting two RP160. This will already be a huge upgrade and it will be easy to move forward from there.
    As this is basically what you are (more or less...) doing, I really think I'm on the right track. Even though I plan to use the RP160 as the main front speakers as you said...I can always move them to the back and add some bigger ones to the front :D

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  7 років тому +1

      Hi! You'll notice a huge difference! I would suggest after getting the RP160s getting the center channel (RP240C) this way, all TV and movie watching will have vocals that stand out, in a good way, since you have the separate center channel. Next, you should go with either the 10" or the 12". When you're ready to buy, please use my affiliate links below, I get a little commission which let's the channel grow, thanks for watching!!

      Hi! Thanks for watching!! Honestly, I'd say you probably won't notice too much of a difference for a surround speaker. Mainly because you'll be rolling the speaker off around 80Hz. Awesome video, I can't wait to start upgrading my surround system, last summer, I bought the Sonos sound bar with woofer and rear surround speakers, but not DTS -X or Dolby atmos, unfortunately, I found out about, when I started watching your videos, I'm just waiting to found out the price of the new Sony oled to start upgrading the sound system, i know klipsch is expensive, but there are top notch, you should make a video of your atmos speakers set up, and by the way, you're lucky that your wife seat down with you to watch movies, mine is always complaining about how much money I spend on this addictive technology LOL.

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  7 років тому +2

      Thanks man! I've been into home theater since 1994 so she knew from the start that I spend money on this stuff. She hated the universal remotes, including the newest one I got which is actually a lot better than the last one. You would have to start with a mid range or better AV Receiver ($500-$800). Check out the X line from Denon (usa.denon.com/us/product/hometheater/receivers) Remember, the lower cost of the receiver, the less outputs you have. You may need an external amp to get Atmos up and running. Currently, there's a sale on Klipsch on Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com/) You could probably get away with the Reference line and $650 for the 5 speakers, and then you'd need a sub which is $350 for a 10". Also, you would need cables, stands, banana plugs. I love watching movies so the added expense is justified for me. I'm also a musician/producer/DJ so I'll pay to have good sounding equipment.

    • @nekerrivera
      @nekerrivera 7 років тому

      Techno Dad If i buy the same receiver you have, Do i still need an amp to get atmos, sorry for so many questions, I'm not a tech guy ;(

      @TechnoDad  7 років тому

      No, the DENON AVR-X6300H can power 11 speakers, so that will power 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos and DTS:X configuration. It's all good man, ask as many questions as you like!

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  7 років тому +1

      You can even do a 7.1.2 or a 5.1.4 with a DENON AVR-X4300H, which you can get for $1499 or on eBay for around $1000 - $1200.

      Techno Dad very good choices. what a coincidence I actually have a set of RP-280s and a PB-2000 :) If you do mostly movie watching on this system. I would save some money and get the RP-260 and dual matching subwoofers. you'll get mug more even base and better coverage. you could sell the 10inch sub to help pay for the ones you actually want.

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  7 років тому

      +Luis Chavez Oooooh, how do you like the RP-280 and PB-2000 combo?? I actually don't have space for a two sub setup. I don't really buy and rebuy speakers too much. The last time I bought speakers was in 2005. I figure if I get the 280s and the SVS, I'll be future proofing since we will be moving in the next couple of years.

      @lcfan214 7 років тому

      It sounds amazing to me, but I live in an apartment so my listening space is probably much smaller than yours. I completely understand about not wanting to deal with selling and re buying speakers/subs. I am actually thinking of selling my PB-2000 and getting dual SB-2000 for the smaller form factor and the benefits like i stated above. I do like to listen to a lot of music through my system though so I sometimes notice that bass sounds only good in a small area with one sub.
