- Well, this is it. It has been many years and many many videos. But there is no denying WoW has been on a dark path for a number of years now and the latest allegations put the cherry on top.
We will still produce Drama and will make some legacy content - but this will be the end of the day to day wow coverage.

It turns out the only real WoW killer there could ever be was WoW.
you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain
Tho for it to be killed it needs a "successor", or everyone will sub again in the next patch/exp like nothing happened, or wait til ashes of creation, new world, lost ark released and hoping they are worth the swap. I dont see gw2, ESO or BDO exploding as FF is doing, and in terms of a traditional MMO experience, FF is probably the most similar to WoW
The WOW killer isn't actually WOW, it's Blizzard. But yep, WOW is stone dead now, I'll be surprised if it gets another expansion.
We’ve been saying this for years.
What killed WoW was Activision buying Blizzard Entertainment and having horrific leadership roles.
Blizzard: "Ok we'll budge. We're removing conduit energy."

the removal of the npc was the dev teams decision and really the only thing the dec team can do in that situation

I quit in March.. all I did was collect mounts. Game just wasn’t fun anymore. Felt like a chore.

yup. As someone who has played this expansion very casually after looking at what I had to do to get my legendary raised past level 225 I just gave up on it. Torghast isn't interesting enough to do it that much. Grinding is not a substitue for end game content
Funny because blizzard promised that shadow lands was going to be all about valuing players time ..
dont forget that shadowlands was the most expensive expansion of them all, going for a full game price

I dont play the game right now, but its been following me for the past 15 years, so its sad to se everything crumble. SOO many memories, and friends. I remember when Swifty released his first video like it was yesterday, it was amazing :D

I remember every time a new MMO came out it was dubbed 'The WoW Killer' but now it seems fitting that the thing that killed WoW, was Blizzard themselves.

After 17 years of supposed WoW-killers, the real WoW killer was WoW all along.
That's the response I've always heard from content creators whenever someone mentions a game being the "WoW-Killer". "Only Wow can kill WoW"

Yah. It's been predicted at the very least since I started playing in Wrath. There was probably someone saying it during vanilla too. Every game that could have been a competitor to WoW fell victim to some of the decisions that WoW was a victim of. Excessive monetization, depreciating assets, a loss of design vision, disregard for the community's opinions, etc. One or two would be enough to sink a game's casual playerbase. It was just a matter of time for Blizzard. RIP Warcraft.

As someone who grew up on wow since the launch, I'm heartbroken to see what it has become. Blizzard has become a hollow shell of what it once was.. I'm sad. Depressed. But we all knew this was coming. To my fellow wow players, I love yall ❤ its been one hell of a ride.

I'm sad and bitter. I left a game that went pay to win for wow because... I thought wow would never go pay to win. I thought I had a forever home, and I was mistaken. Playing Valheim now... it's relaxing.
What's sad is I never played vanilla WoW as I was only 2 when it came out, but when classic was released I was shocked at how much better the game was. Every little item felt so good to acquire, whereas Shadowlands all the items are exactly the same.

When I started making videos I wanted to be the "Preach" of Classic.
Retail WoW has since fallen off for me aswell, but I always kept coming back here to see where the game was at, truly the end of an era.

Wow. A ton of big names are no longer playing. Even if the game wasn't dying before, seeing this will almost certainly be a self fulfilling prophecy. I respect your decision but I just feel really sad.

Cata was amazing for arena/PVP I don’t get why people say this- Raids were fun in it too even though I’ve always thought pve content was repetitive once BIS was achieved. (I started playing end of retail Vanilla) Wrath was my favorite expansion but Cata was a close second. I hated the MoP theme, but arena balancing/play was excellent in that expac too. (TBC sucked to me because RMP cakewalked to glad- I was a gladiator mage in it while knowing next to nothing outside basic setups/ 1 shots ) .Blizzard should’ve put PVP/Arena on the pedestal over pve, it’d still be thriving today. Look at the numbers, every top game played on twitch/active player counts are all competitive PVP games

@@ZyXx3l what killed the whole MMO/RPG experience for me was when they started releasing XP boosts/max level boosts and LFD’s. They broke away from their firm hardcore roots to please the younger next generation. If they focused on Arena/pvp they could’ve atleast savored that side of it and made it to where the game actually competed for top 5 active twitch streams

Agreed. With the 1 exception of allied races, I was so beat down by BFA. I saw Blizzcon 2018 and thought to myself, "they are learning lessons from classic and it looks like they've learned. This is great news!" Unfortunately I was right. They added micro transactions to TBCC
I really enjoyed Legion. Few tweaks that we got towards the end there made that xpac a great experience. Going from that to BfA killed me.
It's pretty gutting. Lots of people feel lost at the moment. I struggle to log in leaving my community down a raider and when I do come in I'll be behind...
As someone who's worked in the industry... it needs this to evolve.
Sadly its at the cost of a large community of players and some great people who worked on it.

For years the most accurate statement about next WoW killer was "WoW will be it's on killer", and after all these years it's happening.
This is how the empire finally dies. After so many years of "wow is dead because..." it turns out it was not because of some new games, or because people just decided to move on. It was long, internal, dirty, filthy process of slow decay and rot from the inside that finally did it.
It's because the game has been shit and everyone is fed up and moving on. The lawsuit thing is very bad but I don't think it's the major reason people are moving on
@@mothafuckajones It's a combination. The game sucks right now, there's no 'goodwill' for Blizzard to fall back on, then all this comes up and they screw themselves. When the Blizzchung stuff came up they had a bit of goodwill built up with SL on the horizon, but now? There's nothing.

It sounds a little silly, but your presentation of information just makes so much more sense to me that other great youtubers. Well said, I played wow more than 13 years and now I'm 39y old just last month decided to stop wow unfortunately due to the game system that's required a lot of grinding, class balancing and more.. and again well said.

Players of these games don’t control anything but their wallets. Content Creators can only control what people see and not how people feel. Playing a game by yourself is different than recording 6 hours of content for Preach’s next show which is akin to making a television show skit in the 1950’s. Today, editors spend hundreds of hours working through scripts and fine tuning their craft for audiences if they want to have a significant following. Quality is not something measured by knowledge or science. If the time you spend in a game is not measuring up, you could pull back a little on your devotion until you get the calibration right. The easiest way to check whether something is an addiction is if you have a hard time sticking to your original plan. Most religious practices incorporate some form of fasting in addition to prayer and almsgiving for the purpose of amendment.

Thanks for being the guy that could make my day just by uploading a video. Even when I was frustrated or whatever I always felt better when I saw your channel on my feed. I joined for wow, stayed for the bants and the personality. Make what you want, Preach, the audience will follow so long as you've still got passion.
I haven't been watching youtube in general for a number of years, just started watching stuff again recently. I used to watch all your WoW content, but I was there for you guys, the WoW was just a vehicle for that. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm excited to see what you do in future. The passion and expertise you had for WoW obviously is a big part of your appeal, but as you said, you're gonna make what you're passionate about. You bring the passion, we'll be there to watch it.
Blizzard always comes out with "cool" statements when the game is declining and the players are mad, then the months pass and the promises changes are ignored, until the next problem and the cycle is repeated. The "it will improve" excuse reached the end line

This did age well because like all the virtue signallers that stopped playing wow because of the sexual harassment stuff a lot of the content creators have gone crawling back even after it come out blizzard had allowed rape/sexual assault custom game modes on overwatch and overwatch 2. The company hasn’t learnt.

It hurts. It feels like someone died. So many sweet memories encased in what was an amazing game that you could tell had so much passion behind it. Turned to crap and the company became drunk on power, and of course Activision didn't help.

One of the biggest things that destroys my experience of this game is wow tokens and run sellers, they make their game insanely grindy so you can buy them
