This is the only review I found that didn't require me making a trip to the hardware store. First time builder and I had it in in 2 minutes. You're seriously awesome man!

Same for me, eazy peazy. I also did this maneuver with the lower inside a shallow cardboard box incase I shot the detent to hopefully limit where it could go.

  • @loktaiextatus

I discovered this method myself and stumbled on this video by chance - of course after the fact and after figuring it was the best way to do it rather than juggling TWICE with a razor blade or something, this cuts out one step and makes it right from my pliers to the pin. Of course I didnt find this out til I already fired a detent pin across the room and by LUCK heard what it landed on and used the sound as a clue- didnt lose it. I hope more people see your video.

Another Method. Takedown pin install for receivers with a tiny hole on the side of the of the takedown spring hole in a receiver. The hole in the side allows you to put a sharp nail or pin to hold the spring compressed. Some receivers have this , some don't. This method allows you to take a long punch and push the spring in deep below the hole. Then you stick a pin point into the hole and it holds the spring in a compressed state. You drop the detent in all the way into the hole with no tension and push the takedown pin in into the receiver holes. Then you pull out the nail or pin from the side hole and this releases the spring to put tension on the detent again. You rotate the takedown pin till the detent locks into the channel.Super easy if you have the proper tools.

Just assembled my first lower. I was really confused when the psa lower kit came with three detent pins and springs. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what the third was for. After attempting to install the feont takedown pin I quickly learned that the third was to replace the one you launch into orbit. Got right back to it with the spare.....now I wish they would have shipped 4 instead of 3. Oh well, now I've got a reason to swing by my local gun store to pickup a few more. Lol

Great and easy video. I have built around 10-15 lowers. One time I sat for like 30 min trying to put that fucker in. So I came up with the idea of putting pillows against the wall, while sitting facing the pillows. So instead of having everything flying all over the place, it was hitting the pillows. I always do it like that. Usually I get it on the first try, depending on the spring. Some are really stiff.

Thanks! I tried the round angle tool with the hole, but every time I would push it out with the takedown pin there is a slight gap that catches the tip of the detent and lauches the detent and spring. Sideways the ledge of the hole supports the pin till it drops in the hole.
