- Our family watched the Hunger Games series and in the second movie Katniss wears an amazing and massive fashion scarf thing that every female in the room loved. So, I thought it would be fun to surprise my wife by recreating it for her as a gift!

Wow!!! This is awesome 👏👏👏 I'm such a proud teacher 🤩 I'm so happy you could make it! Your wife must be so happy. Love your channel 💙 keep crocheting! You do it great.
Thank you so much! Really means a lot and this wouldn't have happened without you. She really likes it!
It amazes me that you made this without knowing the words or concepts of the stitches or construction!!! Kudos!!!
I like your philosophy and approach to making crafts. It is easy tad an adult to not do something it you are not an expert, but you just have to be patient. Good job! PS:I love it that the woman who made the video got to see your work - it must be gratifying for her!
Thanks!
Wow!!!! I am so impressed! I’m going to have to TRY to make this for my daughter. She would love it.
You can do it! Thanks for watching.
The legos at the end!! 😂
Wow, this is great!! Really cool way to make it, and the ropes seem like a great way to recreate the collar. It would be really interesting to know how they did the original 🤔 The only point where my heart bled a little was you pushing yourself to the point of pain. I used to do that a lot with knitting and what I got from it is repetitive strain injury, 0/10 do not recommend 🙈 I hope the diversity of your projects help prevent that ☺Looking foward to watching more of your videos!
Thanks for watching and your concern!
Are you Kidding me!? It looks so good!!!
thanks!
I've been wanting to try the Katniss Cowl ever since I saw it in the movie!!! Now, I've been crocheting for over 20 years, and I just haven't gotten around to it yet. More than that, I write patterns too, so I've been planning on making a written pattern for it, but I have been researching trying to find if there is a copywrite or trademark on that look.
What I've been doing, is studing that image, and researching different stitches I could use to make it as close to the actual cowl as possible. The main difference is that I crochet, and I think the original cowl was knitted, but I need to look at it a couple of times more to determine that. I think you really did a great job! It does inspire me to create my own version of it! I want one that I can wear over a coat or jacket to provide extra warmth.
This is great!!! It may actually be a family present because I can see the girls wanting to wear it too!
Thank you!
What a thoughtful, useful, and greatly coloured gift! Love your channel!
Thanks Jane! Really appreciate the encouragement.
sending this to my man
SO creative ! Great step-by-step presentation with a lovely end product (gift)!
Thank you!
This man put a custom rope around his wife’s neck, and... she thanked him for it. 😂
Awesome Work! Ive done a few of these but not this style on the neck cause it looks like I’ll go crazy. You’ve definitely made it doable. I’m just curious on how the tape will hold after a wash… is it a special tape for fabric? Thanks
Hi Classy! If I can do it, you can do it! Just might take a few times (like me). So far the tape has held up, but we've been (relatively) gentle with it. It's just white duct tape and I used plenty of it the second time. Good luck!
What weight yarn did you use?
Doesn’t the rope make it very heavy?
Hi! It is a bit heavier than a typical scarf, but didn't seem to affect the people that have worn it (for a few hours). A possible alternative could be flexible plastic toy tubes? Regardless, thanks for watching!
What sort of yarn did you use please?
Hey Tracy! I don't remember the details, but got all of it at Michael's (craft store chain in case you aren't familiar) and picked the softest option. Hope this helps!
How many yards of yearn did you use?
Hi Jessica! I think it was about 5-7 skeins. Can easily see the amount varying depending on how tall or wide you want to make the different pieces and the thickness of the cord you use for the upper parts. Have fun!
Wow can i have the same? I can buy it 😍
Thanks for the vote of confidence Aliye! Unfortunately, I don't have time right now to do another one. But, if I can do it so can you!
You probably would have been done quicker if you didn't decide to make yourself a sweater mid way through the process 8:43
Ha ha, I wish I could make a sweater like that! So comfortable.
I am a chicken nugget
I've heard that too.
