thank you! this was the first tutorial i successfully worked! i love that it’s unisex and that it really does work quickly. love this design it’s what made me want to learn crochet
I have been watching tutorials for about six months now and yours have been the best to learn from. You teach in a style that I learn the best with. I love the projects you have! You are an incredible teacher and artist. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.
ty Harriet..............I have watched many tutorials on chainless foundation and got lost in the first 3 stitched.............but you saved me with your EASY TUTORIAL.......looking forward to making Katnis cowl.............again ty ty ty sherron b
I absolutely love this cowl. The first one I made was with the only bulky yarn I had at home. It was plain off white. I loved it so much I made a trip to the nearest town that has yarn, 35 miles one way!! Got a navy blend with touches of brown , to wear with my jeans. Loved it so much, went the next week and bought more. I am cold natured and these are very comfortable and warm. Thank you for this pattern!!
Thank you for the tutorial. Even if the angle it was filmed was different (everybody knows how to double crochet) you explained it perfectly and gave us tips along the way 😍
Hi I love your tutorial! I can't wait to make this. Can I request that you show us the tutorial from above your hands or from your perspective so we can see how you are working the yarn instead of showing it to us from directly in front of you which is hard for me to see and understand. The other tutorials are shot from the above head perspective allowing viewers to see a first hand perspective of the work being done. I believe that if you re- shoot from this angle it will only add to the already fabulousness of your tutorials. I love this Katniss cowl and feel it's the best looking one! And can't wait to get to work on it. ..
THANK YOU so much. A friend wanted this particular one. I have been crocheting for 44 years and when this came into style try and find the pattern for free! Your instructions are crystal clear!!
TY for a WONDERFUL tutorial... i've made this from a pattern and had lots of trouble assembling... you have just made this easy... will be following you! Glad i found you...
Thank you for this nice video. I made one for my 7 yr old daughter. Since the yarn was thinner I followed the same number of stitches. It looks really cool.
Thank you so much. Your instructions are clear . I appreciate your prompt reply and your time . Thanks again for sharing your talents . You are a great teacher!!!
Thank you so much. You are such a great teacher! I love to crochet, but sometimes I get discouraged when the pattern I’m reading doesn’t make sense to me. I purchased your pattern from Etsy (for this item) and it’s wonderful to read a pattern & to crochet along with you. 😊
Love this tutorial I am working this cowl now and appreciate the fact that although you sale your crochet you are willing to share tutorials with others thank you
I love the cowl awesome video and thank you so much for the step by step instruction. I am going to do this cowl for my daugter in law for Christmas. Glad I found your channel.
This cowl looks like a very high-end design. I've never seen any videos on UA-cam that does a no chain. It appears to look as though you are crocheting two double crochet rows at once. Amazing work!!
I enjoyed watching you make this cowl. I am definitely going to try this pattern. Thankyou for your tutorial & your son is sooo cute.... God bless you...
This is pretty and a great idea (project) for those thicker yarns that stress me out because they look too bulky and stiff when worked into a pattern. Good tutorial, fast and simplified... thanks for posting it, Harriet!
I love this Karnes Everdeen Huntress Cowl. I’ve just completed my 8th one. Thank you Harriet. You are an excellent teacher! I want to make one for my granddaughters. Hope you make one for preteen girls soon.
Holy crap! What kind of stitch is that?.....Took me a few attempts, but I finally figured that out!!!! You have some beautiful quick works! Thank you for sharing this video.
This is a fabulously explained video for the rows. I learned that using a size 9 needle was too too difficult and hand tiring. After 4 rows on the neck portion, I simply switched to a #10 with no ill effects to the outcome. As for sewing the 2 pieces together, I would have benefited from seeing how you held the pieces together. That portion was not clear to me since I struggle with visualizing. My neck portion shows the "private" side while the body shows the "public" side. But it is fine for me. I finished over 3 days what you accomplished in under 2 hours! I was able to wear it on a nature walk and post on FB. It is an awesome design. Now I will try to make one for my dog!
I was waiting and I know that you are busy with the baby. So I tried another one but, of coarse you know i will be doing this one as well! Thanks a Million! Now I'm waiting for the scoodie. lol
12MRSNELSON You are quite welcome Mrs. Nelson, I do hope you can share your finished item with me. Which scoodie would you like, I have 2 kinds, take a look in my shop and let me know which one
Hi! I'm from Argentina, I want to tell you that I like so much your work And I have to strive a lot because I don't understand all that you said but I don't care I try to pay attention while you are knitting thanks for teach us see you and sorry for my poor english!
I absolutely love it!!!😍😍😍 It turned out great 👍literally made in just under a day started at 10:00 🕗last night and just finished it right night now at 7:00 🕖in the evening and also I had made it with an extremely bulkier yarn and it weighs like 5 pounds which means that it will keep me super warm. Not to mention that I loved your instructions they were super easy and very straight forward to follow. I will continue to do more projects from you in the future😊😄
New sub!!!! I just love this. I have been looking for something like this. But a full vest like.. thank you, you are appreciated.. hugs also, love the way you speak ,, soothing
I would have loved if you slowed this down some. I’m an intermediate crocheter, but still felt like you were going too fast. Gonna still give it a try!
muy buena aportación el inicio de cadenas. esta muy bien explicado y de esta forma no te equivocas para hacer nuestra labor !!!! mil gracias por la aportación
Thank you for sharing your wonderful pattern! I made 2 so far one with a 9 mm and one with a 10 mm to see the difference and with both i had to use 4 skeins of Lion Brand Thick and Quick not 3. i had less than a yard left after seaming! :) i love the way it drape on the shoulder thank you!
Wow this is awesome! You are both talented and beautiful. Thank you so much for this tutorial, I cannot wait to start on it and I will be grateful to wear this in winter! Nor sure where I can buy this thickness in wool in Australia though as I have never been able to find a good thick wool such as the one you used!
Me encantó!!! ❤ Solo que debería tejer poniendo la cámara de manera que se vea el tejido que se va formando. Espero me comprendas. Saludos desde Argentina ❤️😍😘
I love this. Though I am having trouble with the "DC" foundation stitch. Is there anyway possible that you may be able to show how to do it from behind you, so that I can be able to see exactly how you are doing this, please ma'am?
Fantastic tutorial, making this is a must, I have been so busy on other projects but I'll put them on the back burner so I can make this for my birthday. Thanks for sharing.
I love it!!!!! Could you please let us know how much yarn used and the size shown? Please continue to share your work....your not only an encouragement for fellow crochet lovers, your also inspirational for those of us who share the same talent....
Hi, I'm working on this right now, I am not familiar with tthe chainless stitch, so I made a chain of 30 for the bottom part, when you get to the second row on the bottom part, at the end in the last stitch where there is the chain of two that serves as the first double crochet on row one, do I put two double crochet in that or one double crochet? I hope I made sense.
I can't get my start to look like what you have. I've never done a chainless foundation like this. I've had to keep restarting this because it's too fast for me. I really want to make this for my daughter. Thanks.
Sorry about that but I do not have the camera for that and my children are never available long enough to hold the camera. I do have the written patterns in my shop though
Harriet Near me there are stores called "5 Below" and they have very cheap phone holders. we bought one last week that was very sturdy and also very tall (could clip and reach over your shoulder!) and manueverable! Love the pattern! So unique!!!
Nice tutorial ,i had to use the chain because unfortunately i couldn't make out where the top of the first double crochet was...could you please show it more clearly ...just the beginning..mine just turned up al twisty or round
Absolutely LOVE it!! my daughter wanted me to crochet her katniss cowl with a button just like on your mannequin. Would I crochet 4 rows of double crochets without joining and then the 5th and 6th row I would join? Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial. I did finish the hooded neckwarmer but I am not on facebook. I would love to send you a picture.
curlycords The one on the mannequin, you would make a foundation DC row of 48, 2nd row, work 45 DC, chain one, then 1 DC in the next 2 to make a total of 48. The chain one is the opening for your button. Row 3, you work 44 DC and join to close the neck, and continue working 44 DC in the next 3 rows. Let me know if this makes sense. The rest is the same as in the video with the exception of the first 2 rows of the neck as I have explained.
I'm Africancrab would really love to see this/all tutorials from your point of view (how we would see it if we were actually crocheting it!) it would so help those of us that are trying to learn! thanks...would like to make something like this someday :) very pretty and cant believe you did it all in less than 45 minutes!! wow.... how do you adjust for us big busted girls or full figure ones? i'd like it a little wider..is it possible? thanks so much in advance for answers and thanks for sharing :)
Love this. Would you mind doing another video but with the camera behind you looking down at your hands? I just find it hard to follow when the camera is in front. :-)
Hello Harriet, if I wanted to make this for a 10 year old child size 10/12-14, how many chains or foundations stitches fo I make for the body and neck? Thank you. I love your videos.
Oh, ok thank you I've already re-done my neck part with 48 dbl cro. as for the body part I did restart with 36. now is my neck going to clash with my body ... lol
Love this! Thanks so much! I'm in the process of making one now using your tutorial, I just tried to click on your facebook page link and can't get it to work.
Hi African Crab, thank you for sharing, I just finish making it in the small/medium size. I'm a little confused for the large/xl you state in the video to do 48 DC foundation chain for the cowl, above states for the body to do 34/36 foundation chain, however you said in the video to do 30 foundation chain for the body. Which is it for the large/xl for the body?
I believe you would do the same, only add 1 or 2 more rows than the 12... or, you could start with 32 or 34 stitches, but I would still do the extra rows. Also, instead of counting 8 chains at the neck as your space between the edges of your body portions, count 10 or 12.
this is awesome and I knew o wld make it whn I found the time. I'm working on it now. I must say tho, I followed the instructions but mines turned out smaller. do you hv any idea why? I'm extending the body now. that's all I Thght I cld do.

Holy crap! What kind of stitch is that?.....Took me a few attempts, but I finally figured that out!!!! You have some beautiful quick works! Thank you for sharing this video.
Hello I love watching you work. You're fast..and unique. A year ago I did scoodies for myself and granddaughters.
Harriet Near me there are stores called "5 Below" and they have very cheap phone holders. we bought one last week that was very sturdy and also very tall (could clip and reach over your shoulder!) and manueverable!
Love the pattern! So unique!!!
I was wondering if you can choose to make it bigger than 44 DC. I am not a fan of too small cowl neck sweaters but I will love to make this one.
It's so nice! Congratulation!!!!
Kisses from Aliene (Brazil)
Very Beautiful !!! Is there a written pattern for? If yes where can I find it

Love this. Would you mind doing another video but with the camera behind you looking down at your hands? I just find it hard to follow when the camera is in front. :-)
I love making this I did double and single crochet ❤❤❤❤
Very nice crochet and excellent video, Hello from Mexico

Hi African Crab, thank you for sharing, I just finish making it in the small/medium size. I'm a little confused for the large/xl you state in the video to do 48 DC foundation chain for the cowl, above states for the body to do 34/36 foundation chain, however you said in the video to do 30 foundation chain for the body. Hi there, great video! Do you have a knitted pattern for the same cowl? Beautiful!
