Pick-up videos are cool if there's an good story behind it or a collective experience of watching someone's personal journey overtime. Having an interesting personality or original thoughts/ideas or at least just being true to yourself is always crucial too. I do appreciate when someones love for or interest to learn more about certain games/consoles is evident. It's also nice when they have something i can learn from or that's a new discovery for me. Basically, a gamewise, knowledgable dialogue about what they're passionate about, which in a pick-up video, would hopefully be whatever they picked up, and maybe a personal story connected to it. I think you do a good job of meeting most those criteria. It would be cool to see a longer form gameplay channel where people could actually chat with you and each other to get better aquainted and grow a tighter community here and share our intetests and stories in a more organic fashion than just in the comment section.
It was a blast at first when Metal Jesus and Radical Reggie kicked things off a few years back, but now it feels like everyone’s jumped on the bandwagon. My feed is flooded with thousands of pickup videos every day. Most of them either have the same old titles or are all about those big-ticket items. It gets old pretty fast. Sure, you might stumble upon a prototype game or a unique console every now and then, but those are pretty rare and don’t usually get much attention. It’s tough to sit through most of these videos because they often use clickbait titles to grab your attention, only to reveal there’s no real treasure. The best way to enjoy these pickup videos is to follow collectors who have a good taste in gaming. Overall, the market is just oversaturated, and a lot of them are just pushing their online sales through platforms like Whatnot or flip it apps.
Not sure about others, but I concur with this take. Used to, but not so much these days. The only pickup video I look forward to is MJ/RadReggies pickup videos, not because I care about their pickups, but because I accept their pickup videos for what they are, basically infomercials. 😁I like that they "advertise" many obscure and uncommon current releases you typically dont see every day. My 2 cents.
Yea man I feel like they don't even care about the glass of water. They just want to hear you say your opinion whether it's half full or empty just so they can break out a tape measure and be like, "Well actually.."
I occasionally check out pickup videos. But I think most people including myself usually seek out more videos about individual games, consoles, or top favorites lists or even tier lists.
I know it makes me want to pick up games... and I'm trying to only get stuff I really love so... it's like encouraging myself to buy things I'll regret buying later
I only watch pick up videos to discover games that are new to me. Just in case there's something I discover that I want to play. There's honestly not much I haven't seen before but I still watch for those rare occasions.
I mostly watch game room tours, FPGA/MiSTer news, game reviews, console overviews, modern retro hardware content/modding and video game history documentaries.
barely any pick up youtubers in the UK anymore as there's not really a lot to pick up! I've also the noticed that the views even the biggest UK channels get doesn't correlate to the prices of games themselves. I've stopped buying video games directly and actually buy other items which i trade in for games - reminds me of the old days as it's much more plentiful and you feel you are getting somewhere unlike with games where i can spend a day for find something worth £10-20 now..
It's more annoying when you see these resellers make pickup videos going " I got this game for $10 and it's going on ebay for $20 and sold it for $40" garbage videos. Honest and more fun filled videos of gamers doing their game pickups are still entertaining and popular.
There's a difference between some random reseller or UA-camr picking up a game and saying how rare it is, and a collector that actually has a story to tell or interesting commentary about the game. It's also nice to hear why a game is in your collection or why you might be getting rid of it. Most UA-camrs are just picking up games, but they aren't curating. I've started watching smaller UA-cam channels like yours for this reason. Might give me a different perspective or viewpoint on a game. You also tend to highlight mid-tier games that a lot of other UA-camrs are ignoring. Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll and Blades of Time, for example. You talk a lot about games like those before other UA-camrs get around to them.
Hi , your video is great . I noticed that you don't have thumbnails for your videos. Don't you think a thumbnail play a great and important role to enhance more audience, do you need a thumbnail designer? Thank you.
I also think its the "i got this 300+ game for only 5 bucks" shit gets irritating especially when it most likely not true

I collect for pure nostalgia. Real, honest and true that hit me hard throughout my life. Finding cheap pick ups here and there then that’s a bonus!
Because they are all salivating over Pokemon Cards.

Everyone thought every title will be rare and that’s far from the truth.
