I've been very intrigued by this line of basses. I never heard a sound I liked on other UA-cam videos. I was disappointed. Now that I've heard you play it, I want one. This is the Droid I was looking for.
Great bass playing! The bass itself… the tone I thought was inconsistent and boomy. Not a very articulate instrument. A great call to go with flats. Round wound strings would’ve caused additional noises not desirable in a semi acoustic hollow body.
for that clicking, are you using Logic pro? I used to get that clicking from a low buffer range and having my speakers, interface, and computer all plugged into the same outlet. If you plug them into separate outlets or a power conditioner, that may fix or help the clicking if you're still having that issue. Also, excellent playing! I love those artcore basses. I used to have the 5 string version and regret selling it. Awesome job!
Thanks for taking the time to write! Without really checking it out, I made the assumption that it was an electric fence, as I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that faintly through an amp here in the past. But listening to this video now, the clicking isn’t regular like a fence, and seems to be associated with louder volumes. Maybe changing the buffer, as you suggest, would help….. If I get around to another video like this one day I’ll see if I can fix it…..
I’ve never got much joy with my experiments with a piezo on hollow electric bass. Sounds from magnetic pickups are influenced by the hollow body more than I might have once thought.
Thanks so much for this demo! Seems as though everyone else is keeping the roundwounds that come stock on it. It sounds great with the flats. Could you please give the model and length of the strings you're using? Thank you.
Hi Blaise, they are D’Addario chromes, medium scale. The bass is short scale, but mediums fit better because of the extra length behind the bridge. Thanks for your comment!
I'm just catching up to this video, two years later. Do you still have this bass guitar? If so, do you still like it? Gig with it? Beautiful playing, by the way.
Thanks! I still have it. I bought it thinking of it as a more controllable (but with a somewhat similar visual vibe) option to pull out for big gigs where double bass is just sounding like an elephant giving birth in a stairwell during an earthquake. Instead, I’ve been knocking back those gigs.
They talking about the bass but for me it's all about the playing. This guy would swing it you gave him a potato to play.
Its the player 💯
You really manage to nail that upright swing feel on the electric.
excellent sound approach and phrasing, and also great harmonic/melodic command. love it!
Thanks very much!
beautiful tone. excellent playing!!

Replacing the strings with flatwounds probably has a fair bit to do with that I reckon.
Beautiful playing!
this sounds really good. Not that usual sterile sound we hear everywhere nowadays.
Beatiful tone! You are gold, sir
Very Nice! Your playing is awesome and that tone is beautiful 😃
thank you=) i love this demos!
What a fabulous sounding bass
The fence had trouble with timing....
Beautiful work my man.
Many thanks!
Sounds good. Soulful. Smooth. Creamy.

Alone Together? Beautiful tone and phrasing Ben. I really enjoyed that.
That’s the tune! ....and thanks!
Great playing. Lovely bass, I wonder if it could be even better with a piezo in the bridge?

Keep it coming 😊

@@benbrinkhoff Thank you!
A roland GK-3 would fit this amazing.
Fantastic sounds and playing. Do you think they make a left hand version of this?
@@galgogergo I kind of doubt it. There aren’t even many right-handed ones around….
And thanks….
Por fin una review como la gente, muy buen walking

@@benbrinkhoff thanks for the reply. Beautiful.
Little bit noisy
1. Use a plectrum 2. Use strumming and play chords
