I watched this at the Pacific Film Archive last night. This is a fantastic documentary. Well edited, well produced, and she is a fascinating woman. Everyone should see it.
I had never heard of this incredibly soulful beautiful voice, until recently, while half watching an episode of Alfred Hitchcock hour (1962), where the villain walks into this jazz club as Ms Dane is performing solo with guitar. I was in another room and nearly broke my neck over a piece of furniture trying to see who this was before the scene ended. After reading about her vast body of work and extensive contributions to certain causes , I am hooked. Better late , than never.

このドキュメンタリーを東京で2024年9月に見ました。とても素晴らしかった。歌手として人間として、Barbara Daneという存在に感動しました。ブルースやジャズの曲もとてもいい。
平和と正義を求める活動の最前線で声を挙げるという点では、ハリー・ベラフォンテや私の大好きなギリシャの作曲家ミキス・テオドラキスと重なるものを感じます。
あまりに良かったので、10月にもう一度見ました。監督のMaureen Goslingさん、ありがとうございます。
バーバラさんはつい最近、10月20日に97歳でお亡くなりになったのですね。ご冥福をお祈りします。

You can imagine the horrible things she was, and no doubt still is called in her own country. Beautiful soul with a voice to match.
Why say that now? She was great, so that is all there is to it
