The foam under the pcb it caught me by surprise, I didn't expect Razer to do it, but I'm glad they took the time for it. It's not often that a big, mainstream gaming keyboard manufacturer does that. Overall the TKL looks great, very sleek and minimalist, especially with the RGB off. Last video of the bunch, thanks for doing them! Enjoyed all of them, especially the SteelSeries Prime Mini and Shurikey Gear Hanzo keyboard!
@@shauqiesyahrisy2894 I disagree, but also agree with you in the same time. For people who just want to game and doesn't want to modify their keyboard I'd say buy a prebuilt. But if you're just a normal person who doesn't play much games but enjoys the keyboard hobby and want to have your own look I'd say build one. Example: The KBD67 lite when in-stock would be a great 100 dollar board as it a hotswap, north facing led PCB. Razer is finally putting those small details in their products that made the brand one of the biggests related to gaming years ago... I'm glad they are listening to feedback and improving so we pay for actual quality and not only for the brand by it self. Great review Techne, as always!! Much love from Brasil
I modded my keyboard 2 months ago, Bloody B975, has the same construction as Huntsman V2 TKL and the same kind of switches. I add 2 layers of PE foam on the bottom and one layer cut for switches between the PCB and the aluminum plate on top. I lube the switches with dielectric grease and stabilizers wire from PCB. I removed the stabilizer wire from the switches, it doesn't make any sense and it doesn't really do anything it should. I cut the excess plastic that holds the wire on the switch. Now my keyboard sounds really good, probably better than Huntsman V2 TKL. Replay if you want to see some pictures with the modified switches.
Razer really put their work in and listened to the community! I'd definitely use this over any custom kb for gaming, especially with that 8k hz polling rate.
Wow Razer seems to be stepping up their game on their keyboards. Really love the look on the keyboard. Always loved Razers aesthetics or design wise even in the past! Hope to learn more about keyboards from you!
I have a question regarding the regular V2 huntsman verison (Razer Huntsman v2) - Doest it have usb type A at the end of the cable or it is only Type C? I am asking because my motherboard is old does not have type c. Thank you
Honestly I love what Razer is doing as they are listening to the community. My favorite part of this keyboard is the sound it produces. Thank you Techne for your honest reviews. I think a lot of people bash on Razer but you are always honest when it comes to your reviews. I come to you first before spending my money on any gaming accessory
I have been using an old HP keyboard for 3 years now and this keyboard is really good, silent, clicky, and everything. I would be really happy if I win this because it's a huge upgrade. Really good video keep it up
I love how they added a dampening foam and the 2nd gen Razer Linear red Optical swtiches , I'm using the huntsman Tournament Edition and I'm really glad they made the keys much quieter
I think this keyboard is a perfect upgrade from the previous version. However, they should make full-sized keyboards with detachable cables. Really loved the sound and the included wrist-rest as well.
Razer is actually listening to costumers and improving a lot their products. I always had deathadders as my main and had problems in the past, but since the DA chroma i never got bad copies or problems. Big thumbs up for them and a bigger one for Techne for being the best reviewer and always being 100% honest about the products, helping a lot of People choose their gaming gear!
Personally not a fan of the silent like switches. I like the switches on the original huntsman TE. Do you know if the V2 is going to replace the original?
The 8k Hz polling rate is a huge step up for competitive play you overlooked a bit during the review, I recommend battlenonsense videos regarding keyboard input lag. A Corsair keyboard used to be top dog with the lowest latency even using old cherry mx switches instead of optical or omnipoint because it had 4000hz polling rate and custom firmware. Huntsman V2 now has 8k Hz polling rate and optical switches so it must boast the lowest latency! Cheers, and good luck yall in the giveaway!
Man I've always been a Razer fan and im rocking my viper mini right now! and thanks to your sick review from it well ofc I gotta cop it! and now watching this keyboard with the sound test and teardown... man Take my F money!!! I love the vids man It'd be cool if I'll get those cuz I am only using a membrane keyboard for like 4 yrs and it got back light but the letters do not light up just the freaking plate whatever u call it.
I think it is a huge improvement from the first generation. This is the first prebuilt keyboard mechanical keyboard that I would buy if I had a lot of money.
I think the Huntsman V2 line made a good move on the sound dampening foam. The first one was LOUD. Also, I think other big companies will follow on what Razer did to the Huntsman V2.
What I really like about this board is that once you opened it you have your keyboard unlike the custom keyboards you have to put together. But my top likes about this is the nice and slick shape and the wrist rest. Really like the wrist rest too! Keep it up!!!!
I think this keyboard is way better than the first one. I think I might pick it up to replace my membrane keyboard because of how quiet it is. Shared it with my friend and he like it as well.
I think that the keyboard looks really cool but I have a couple of questions. Is this keyboard better than the Apex Pro and what is the actuation point on the new V2 switch?
Bought the v1 at release loved it and yes it was loud, REALLY loud. wish I waited and bought the v2 it looks SO MUCH better, and gl to everyone on the giveaway
I’m amazed at how Razer is improving their keyboards and products overall. This at first sounded like a membrane keyboard but it isn’t!! Love your videos man, honest and well detailed, simply just awesome. I’ve bought products because of your reviews! Thanks.
Ah, the sweet sounds of ASMR. I've already re-watched the beginning of this 3x just to hear how good it sounds :P I like quieter keys and this sounds awesome! I'll be sharing this with friends who dig the same type of sound! Also loved the Miya keyboard appearance and sound. Thanks for the review!
The customisation is great, and it sounds really good. Always love your videos, always get to the point and you helped me choose headset(ended up getting blackshark v2x) and I love it. Keep it up man 🙏
Razers optical switches on my Huntsman Mini are the best switches I have ever used and I have built like 12 of my own keyboards using Gateron, MX, and Kaihl switches using either Tactile or Linear switches
My favorite part about the keyboard is that the RGB isn't over the top. I'm not a huge fan of RGB so that's a huge plus for me. The sound is also pretty dang good for out of the box, so that's pretty dope. Another thing that I think went unnoticed by a most people is on the TKL there is a small Razer logo which for me is also a plus. Lastly, the customization options available from Razer Synapse is really really nice.
Can't believe you did all these videos for us! You are amazing, Techne! Glad you reviewed the new Huntsman as it seems like a pretty awesome board to add to the roundup!
bro i was here quite early. love your videos man. just bought the basilisk v3 loving the mouse right now wouldnt have got it without ur positive review. the keyboard sounds absoluteky amazing and would pair great with it. seems like a major upgrade
Hey Techne, just wanted to ask for your opinion on buying a steelseries headset in the current year like the arctis 5's, is it worth the money considering they released a long time ago but reviews said they're solid?
Always Enjoy your vids Techne! Really enjoyed that "intro" and how it got straight to the selling point. Been looking for a tkl keyboard and I must say you definitely sold me on this one.
Looks great! Glad they toned down the RGB. Is there RGB control without Synapse? Can you, for instance, set a static RGB scheme, and store it to an on-board profile, or define it as the keyboard default?
I currently have a Blackwidow with yellow switches and I love it but it double taps a bunch hopefully these optical switches will help me when I upgrade
I just got one of these. I like it. It's the regular V2 and I can type SILENTLY on it without too much trouble. You guys demonstrating them are LOUD. The only trouble I'm having is that the ctrl key on the left hand side feels weirdly small and that along with a few other things just feels a bit weird and I keep hitting the wrong keys. I'm attempting to re-train myself with Typing of the Dead.
Honestly sound pretty good, seems like Razer does listen to the community.. Anyways followed you for over a year now and you are my go-to tech reviewer!
Man this took long enough to drop but i love the fact that they improve each release this is what its all about innovating the game and taking loved features across the lineup and pressing them into the next models.
I have mixed feeling about Razer's optical switch. For one it sounds like a silent switch which I like, but the other it also have the "rattle" sound (the sound they make when you shake the keyboard) - I know you are not going to shake the keyboard when you use, but you certainly can still hear them when you type.
The tkl one's pretty solid with that detachable usb also the key is an improvement from the v1. Shame the full size doesn't come with the detachable usb otherwise it's all good. Great job on the improvement Razer and Great review as always Techne!!
This keyboard sounds AMAZING, usually it doesn't sound buttery smooth like it is out the box right now, especially after the lubing job it is amazing. Thank you for this review (And no I am not just doing this for the keyboard giveaway I genuinely love your channel and have been here forever)
Thx for the video have been waiting for the next TKL board from Razer...Have enjoyed the original but, as you stated makes a ton of noise... I always enjoy your energy level... Keep the videos coming. Looking for some new toys for Christmas.....
I really think that this is a great keyboard, with amazing potentials in the $150 price range. I think that it's great that they decided to add all the dampening to the board, as it sounds soo much better than last years V1. I really do wish that they had pre lubed the stabs, but other than that there isn't much to complain about with this board.
Here are some constructive advice regarding the video, it's up to you if you want to consider these. First and foremost do not mix different lighting temperatures unless you are looking for a stylized look, in your case, the tungsten light doesn't fit the overall mood, it's better to set it to white, ways to correct this? Depends if you're using an LED, there's probably a setting to change the lighting temperature, if you're using a straight Fresnel or Redhead/Blondie, you can buy a florescent film gel that can help you change the temperature: Color Correction Gel. If it's the house light, either turn them off or change the lighting bulb to a more neutral color temperature. Also side-note, you might want to research on lighting ratios, I don't know, it can help you. Second, do not Dutch angle the settings, the purpose of that scene is show the settings, so why even make it harder to see? My personal advice use OBS screen capture to record the screen, have your standard frontal camera record you talking to the audience while also doing setting -- in post mix them together, have the OBS screen recording take center stage and put that other recording of you talking about the product in the corner, be it low left corner or low right corner. Thirdly, this is personal, it may or may not apply to you, but for your sake and for others, do not temper with the gift away product, that's just a dick move to begin with.
Yo this keyboard is sick! I like how it sounds so quiet. I just moved into my dorm at university and I’m planning a gaming setup and this keyboard will fit right in as to not disrupt my roommate. Awesome review man!
Thats some physics well done with that no contact dampening, its like every switch has its own hammock, honestly an easy and low investment solution no need for fancy cloud foam material or anything!
this would be a great addition to my setup, i'm slowly building my gaming setup and the keyboard is what i'm missing. since i'm a student i can't really work so much. but either ways good video. much lovwe as always
I'm a fan of those switches, they sound almost like those Gateron "silent" switches whilst sounding a bit less mush-y, nice. Also thanks for that video marathon you just did man, have a good break lol
I just bought the huntsman v1 tkl and other then the Uber sensitive keys I throughly enjoy it. Buttery smooth, this one looks to fix my only issue with this keyboard, just sucks I bought it 2 weeks ago lol. I actually wanted the roccat tkl pro but my local Best Buy didn’t have it so I settled for the huntsman and I’m impressed. Razer has came along way with their keyboards and glad to seek them putting out worthy products now.
I have the Razer Huntsman V2 TKL. It definitely has a very short break in period. After a week or so my WASD keys already sound different; A more clacky, bottom out sound. Not every key is going to sound the same, so you get "Typing with some ocassional clack." I can only imagine the rest of the keyboard will sound like this after a while. These keys also got lighter. Its a very subtle difference, but it's definitely there.
Love this review and keyboard! This keyboard looks amazing, love the rgb. This would the perfection upgrade from my obnoxiously loud keyboard that I still hear with my headphones on and would definitely increase my typing speed and help me with my gameplay (especially rhythm games lol) GL to all
Usually I'm not much of a fan of the pre-built name brand keyboards (except the Steelseries Apex series of course). However, based on your review I'm seriously considering grabbing the new TKL Huntsman at some point, Razer always just nails the RGB effects on their products. Really enjoy your content and your energy, Techne. Keep up the good work,
I would love to have the keyboard as my first mechanical keyboard and I think you did a good job in explaining the pro and cons in both Razer boards especially at that price range
Looks amazing! I like the fact that it comes with pbt keycaps so they won't shine with time and other thing I like is that the keyboard is very easy to open - just remove some screws and pop it open.
Does lubricating the stabs worsen their performance in games? And is it okay to use any lube out there or do I have to take a specific one to avoid damaging the stabs?
you know I actually though about this myself, I honestly can't tell a difference on the stabs (pending how much you put on) but when I use lubed switches when gaming, I clearly tell; a difference, with them being slower
@@TheTechne Oh alright man, thank you so much for answering my question, you're the best, I really appreciate all the content you bring and do, you're really awesome! Wish you the best day!!
I love Razer, I’ve got other Razer products, but this is by far the best keyboard I’ve seen or heard. I thought about getting the Huntsman V2 Analog, but I’m so glad I waited for these to come out. Would absolutely love this.
I lubed the stabilisers on mine with some Krytox XHT-BDZ and it definitely sounds better than after you used dielectric grease here, with less rattle. It's a thicker lube, industrial level stuff. I'd highly recommend it but only for stabilisers, it's far too thick for switches.
The Original Huntsman (which I currently have) has more noise compared to this compared and I must say I'm impressed with what Razer did to lessen the clanky noise of the Keyboard. On the other hand I'm not even sure if its physically possible to see the difference between the current polling rate of the original huntsman keyboard and the V2 version which is 8000 polling rate. A bit uncessary I think
I'm sorry but I have to tell you something very important and I think that many including me like you have made the same mistake of breaking a pin of the keyboard (the silver one) right above the usb socket tipe-c I'll explain: where the cable is inserted on the keyboard , a small square of plastic, lifting it below there is a waist and unscrewing it you avoid breaking that small silver circle that you see in min 6:42. Fortunately nothing happens to the keyboard, but be very careful in the teardown, because we love and take your deeds as an example. However you are always the best !!!
I've got a question. I'm looking for a new keyboard, coming from a G810 (I'm getting chattering issues after 5y of use) and I'm on the fence between the Huntsman V2 in this video and the Corsair K100. Both got good reviews from you. Which of those two is the better keyboard?
Shewwwee, thank you all for joining me on the 7 videos in 4 days of new product releases extravaganza! I'm gonna take the next couple days off, lol!

this would be a great addition to my setup, i'm slowly building my gaming setup and the keyboard is what i'm missing. since i'm a student i can't really work so much. but either ways good video. much lovwe as always
The keeb sounds pretty good tbh considering its not custom. I like the mods you did to them.
I'm a fan of those switches, they sound almost like those Gateron "silent" switches whilst sounding a bit less mush-y, nice. Also thanks for that video marathon you just did man, have a good break lol
Still rocking my Viper Mini and Blackshark V2 X which I'd bought because of your reviews, so I really appreciate you.
How is it now? I wanted to buy this keyboard but just full size. If it doesn’t hold up for at least two-three years i won’t even think on buying it
Love this review and keyboard! This keyboard looks amazing, love the rgb. This would the perfection upgrade from my obnoxiously loud keyboard that I still hear with my headphones on and would definitely increase my typing speed and help me with my gameplay (especially rhythm games lol) GL to all
Still prefer the Apex Pro TKL?
When does this keyboard release and how much??
I love Razer, I’ve got other Razer products, but this is by far the best keyboard I’ve seen or heard. I thought about getting the Huntsman V2 Analog, but I’m so glad I waited for these to come out. Would absolutely love this.
Which is More stinkin' cozy the Black shark v2 Or arctis5
Hey, techne
The spacebar Will not rattle if you just pull it a litle bit up. It worked on my razer huntsman mini.
Sorry for bad english
My first gaming keyboard was the Huntsman Tournament Edition TKL and it was incredible. Would love to get my hands on this 2nd version 😱
The sick thing about this keyboard is everything
this or apex pro?
This keyboard is so good, I love all the huntsman keyboards to be honest. The sound on this one is much better. Love it
I've got a question. I'm looking for a new keyboard, coming from a G810 (I'm getting chattering issues after 5y of use) and I'm on the fence between the Huntsman V2 in this video and the Corsair K100. Both got good reviews from you. Which of those two is the better keyboard?
can't beat the Huntsman V2
Love that you showed us the grease trick!
