I got razer greens and I regret it
@@td8974 why
@@td8974 how are your eardrums
keyboards are so over engineered for what they are, i love it
Lol true
r/MK: And u thought that was bad
Have you seen watches lol
they forgot about engineering the case itself. Just a cheap plastic mould injected crap
If only razer treated them like enthusiasts do
spectacular presentation, the keys are highly responsive while typing.
VERY comprehensive and properly informative. Thank you for including sound examples. Keep up the good work!
Hey there! Thanks for the feedback! I couldn't agree more with your comment. It's great to see comprehensive guides with sound examples. By the way, have you heard about the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a fantastic tool for maintaining a clean environment around your desk and even in your car. It's compact, powerful, and reasonably priced compared to other brands. You might find it useful for optimizing your desktop setup. Just thought I'd share my thoughts with you! Have an awesome day!
Hey there! I've been using the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule for a while now and I must say, it's a game-changer. The powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities make it perfect for keeping my desk clean and my car's interior spotless. Plus, the multiple tubes and high-quality filters ensure long-lasting performance. Definitely recommend giving it a try!
The videography/post-production/technical quality of your videos is so awesome. Damn. It's a joy just to look at.
Great video, can't wait for the headphones guide.
Tactile has always been my choice but I might switch to optical linear switches. They sound great.
Best review I've seen on here... and I've seen a lot. Love the colour grading, great audio, and great editing. Your presentation style reminds me of Dave Lee... I think you've taken some inspiration brother 😉 👍🏻
Just found your channel. This video is just awesome!
Very informative, visual, and well produced.
This level of quality is really hard to find.
Because of your video, finally i bought huntsman v2 tkl red linear optical gen 2. Thanks.
Me personally, I'm all about audio feedback and physical. Greens are my favorite. Add dampening foam to remove ping vibration and pbt keycaps...amazing experience!!
I hate the greens the most lol, but that just goes to why so many different switches exist, not everybody wants the same, and that's cool
@@sporemaster97 I hate greens now haha
@@wolfk.l.5582 Lmaooo XD I have purples at the moment, but I got the keyboard used like new for a steal, so I could get yellows or reds and still spend less than buying it new, so I might switch them out eventually.
@sporemaster97 I used creams and fell for linears ever since. Now I use banana milks and they are awesome.
@@wolfk.l.5582hello, I just got myself the razer blackwidow v4 and I got it with green switches, do you think this is good if I mostly play combat games like the combos type of thing, and sometimes fps? Or should I get something else
I have the Razer Black Widow. It's super-clicky and super loud. It's typewriter loud. I love it!
You’ll probably enjoy the Kailh x Novelkeys Box Jades. They use click bars instead of click jacket and they’re way more clicky and sharp... Try to find a sound test and you’ll see :)
I have the Blackwidow Elite. Thats exactly what I wanted it for. I got lucky and found one brand new from someone for just $70 a few months back. I definitely scooped it, and since I drove an hour, he sold me a Firefly V2 mousemat for $10, as well as threw in a Logitech G502 for nothing.
Same
Razer’s switch designs are awesome! My favorite one would be the yellow mechanical
Thank you so much! I made my mind on what keyboard I need. I was using an ornata v1 but I will update to a huntsman v2 with red switches.
Damn, great work team! :D

I have the old 2013 black widow ultimate with green switches and I ADORE them 😍 the sound, the feel, it's amazing.
I would like a huntsman next... But the purple switches might take some getting used to
Amazing content - Thank you so much for spending all the time to put this together.
Thank you for the guide, Hardware Canucks
My cousin gave me a Razer KB, and this helps me to understand Razer's KB switches
good video that actually talks about everything for keyboards and which razer boards have witch type of switch
The B rolls and animations were soo SICK! 🔥
Lovely explanation 👌 great video!
Thank you so much❤️
The Razer Ornata V2 has such a good sound for being the mecha-membrane Keyboard, and feel. I have to original Ornata, but its still very nice.
Using the red optical switches on the Huntsman Mini. I'm loving it but even I still make accidental typos due to the low actuation point. Wished they came out with the a tactile silent optical switch.
Love this kinds of vids 🤷🏻♂️🔥
This is amazing, I've always thought I wanted either yellow mech, or red optical, but now I know for sure, I want red optical gen 2. The silence is awesome. If not this one then the mecha membrane looks really interesting.
Yeah the gen2 opticals are my go to. Cant wait for a TKL model. Also really surprising how much I like mecha-membrane for typing. The clicky point is very nice with an almost immediate reset.
-D.
@@HardwareCanucks yeah same! I think I want to get the TKL version as well!
You also said the keycaps were different than on the other keyboards right? So what about a "red gen 2 optical-membrane" variant?
Hey {{3}}! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I can definitely understand your excitement about the Razer keyboard switches. If you're looking for a tool to complement your desktop setup, I highly recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a compact yet powerful device that can help you keep your workspace and other areas clean effortlessly. Plus, it has some really cool features like keyboard cleaning and inflating capabilities. Definitely worth considering! 😄👍
I picked yellow keys on the Blackwidow mini for my upcoming wireless lounge setup, as I've only used Cherry reds and Steelseries fast tactile ones before and thats what I like. I don't really like clicky ones. And also a Basilisk X Hyperspeed, not only because it was cheap but for how long the battery life is.
Very well explained. Thanks
Typing this on a huntsman mini, love it so much!!
Great video and finally a non confusing list!
yay glad to hear it :)
-D.
Great video!
One question about the red optical gen2: in your video you say the actuation force is 45g, but the razer website says it's 40g. What's the correct value?
I was definitely going for the Huntsman TE, but after your review it seems like the Red Optical are still too light and it's easy to press them by mistake.
Thanks for sharing!
40g is perfect. 35g is the problem.
BROOO!!!! LOVE IT!!! thanks so much for all this information so usefull, regards from Venezuela! keep doing that amazing job!
Thanks man!
Can you get this in Venezuela??? I'm in Colombia and it's not in sale. Had to get a friend from Canada to bring it back for me!
@@MattCassCook you have to buy it in amazon (us) and bring it back here, is the only way, here exist few companies that do that for you
Definitely the best tutorial I've seen for keyboards. Now, I am more sure what I'm going to purchase (A yellow one).
This is the best explanation of key switches I've ever seen, regardless of brand. All the correct terminology, and an excessive amount of detail for each type of switch. For example, this is the first time I've really understood the differences between gen 1 and gen 2 Razer Optical Reds; most people just say something like "they removed the spring ping, and uhh I don't know what else".
Regarding optical switches, I think a lot has to change before they can I will see them as "the future".
The full size Razer huntsman is a $200 keyboard. Corsair's K100 is $250. A normal mechanical keyboard should cost between $100 and $150. The gaming brands need to get their prices under control.
Replacing an optical switch is much harder than replacing a mx-style mechanical switch. MX is great because soldering them on and off the board is easy. Yes, the switch part of an optical switch is also easy to remove, but the actual light emitter and light sensor are difficult to replace. This leads into my next two points:
There is no optical keyboard standard. You can't drop a Gateron optical switch into a Razer Optical keyboard or a Corsair OPT-X keyboard. If it works, it's a fluke. Sure, this only really matters for the enthusiast community, but I'm a member of that community so I'm biased towards this issue.
And finally: Razer doesn't sell optical switches by themselves. It should be possible to upgrade a keyboard with gen 1 optical reds to gen 2 optical reds, but the only way to get the gen 2 switch is to buy a Razer Huntsman Mini.
These issues aren't insurmountable, of course, and I understand that this is the way things have to be for now. But as long as we're looking towards "the future" of optical switches, I think it's safe to dream bigger than what we have now.
I'm aware this comment is 3 years old, but they do sell the switches on their own now, so your wishes have partially come true
Thanks for the times stamps
Great video! Can you do the same thing for Logitech keyboards (and include their Ergo K860)?
Same as you. I am waiting for gen 2 on the Huntsman TKL
Oh damn, quite neat.
Even though I am not in the market for a Razer keyboard at this very moment, this is still quite interesting and potentially very useful for the future.
I’m using the ProType keyboard with yellow switches in the office and I love it!!!
I’m hoping to get a razer huntsman mini for Christmas and am very exited for the optical purple clicky switches.
Nice glasses you have. Are they new? I don't think I've seen them before.
But they look quite good!
Hi! I am undecided between the "LG 34WN780-B" and "LG 43UN700-B" what do you think about both models? and Which one do you recommend me to program and image/video editing? Thank you for your help and I wish you the best success in all you do! :)
Thanks a lot.
When starts optical gen2? What names of keyboards has it?
And what are the names of the gen1 optical boards?
I like to by the red ones. But i think normal orange and yellow are good for me to.
This is the only left in the video, a list of wich keyboard is available with wich switches.
Thanks
Your explanation is the best
good video - well put for me and well explained for razer products
Bought a white huntsmen mini, with red linear switches. Tbh such an improvement over mu corsair K70 SE. same travel and actuation distance but the slight increase in force required makes misclicking occur less. Also my huntsmen mini didnt have the space bar stabilizer break after using a keycap puller to remove the spacebar. It’s also surprisingly a lot quieter than the K70 and the smaller form factor is just bliss when gaming. Overall nice typing experience as well as gaming, production use though the small form factor makes it not ideal hut that goes for any 60% board
amazing video and information. thank you
Linear Red V2 is so unique and I love it on my Hunstman Tenkeyless V2
God damn it Dimitri, your work is just incredible. Not only are so knowledgeable and articulate but your filmography skills are insane. In the words of Dr. Strange.... TEACH ME! 😅
haha thanks :) appreciate the compliment!
-D.
Absolutely loved this video
My huntsman v2 analog arrived yesterday, and so far I am liking it. Quite a different feel to my old Corsair Strafe RGB. I like the ability to set the actuation point, so I can have it just as I like it, rather than be dictated to by the switch itself.
How it now??
Hey, I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule, a compact and powerful vacuuming/blowing device that could be a great addition to your desktop setup! It offers efficient cleaning with its high suction power, and the keyboard cleaning feature is impressive. Plus, its versatile accessories make it handy for other uses too. Definitely worth considering!
Hey there! I noticed you were mentioning Razer keyboard switches. Have you ever considered optimizing your desktop setup by keeping it clean and dust-free? I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule, which offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities. It's a handy tool to maintain a spotless environment, both on your desk and in your car. The key features include a powerful vacuum, keyboard cleaning, and efficient storage. It might be worth checking out! Hope this suggestion helps.
Would love to see a Black Widow with Purple switches. Also they should license the new buckling spring switches and RGB-ify them. I sooooo miss the old IBM and early Focus keyboards. Nothing that has come since then has mimic'd the crisp break and reset of those buckling spring switches.
I just bought the new Huntsman Elite Linear....and OMG I love it. The speed and response timing has so greatly improved!!! I don't know if I could go back to normal mecha boards T_T lol
Fix the damn stabs and you will love it even more
I have Razer Blackwidow (green switches) I bought back in 2013, first edition i think, and it still works perfectly in soon to be 2023.
Very nice video, thx !
hi...this video teach me a lot about keyboard. thank you so much for the video, I enjoyed while learning from it.
thought I have a request, if possible plz make a video on mechanical keyboard for typing work (gaming is not important here).
thank you.. 😀
This is exactly what i needed. Thank you so much! Red for me :)
This is helpful. I wanted to know what kind of regular mechanical switch to look for to get a sound and feel similar to my mecha membrane. I love the sound of Browns on video but I find I dislike how it feels when I use it myself. Looks like I gotta go for clicky. Which I had no idea I would be doing. I definitely won’t like linear.
I just bought the razer blackwidow pro v3 wireless with the yellow keys I love it
thank you this was so good
The Blackwidow Lite was where I entered the game, orange switches, now on third Razer keyboard TE TKL after trying and failing to live with a 60% mini. Red gen 2 definitely best switch but I need my function keys in visual studio.
Yellow and green are my favorites!
the green switches with o ring's become quieter than the purple switches with o ring's?
love this kind of vids
running my blackwidow v3 with greens im pretty happy! i also have an original blackwidow chroma i used to use great keyboards all around fantastic company in my opinion
After the razer greens sound test, I can definitely say they sounded so satsifyingly crispy. Great choice!
Noti gang, currently rocking a Huntsman Mini Clicky thanks to your reviews
How do you like it?
@@HardwareCanucks I really like it! First mechanical keyboard! Also got the Viper Mini based on your review and Rocket Jump Ninja’s review
the clicky ones sound like rain drops, awesome!
Brilliant video!
Purple optical is my fav so far!
The Color Grading is just different, man. How do you do it? Which software you use? All of your videos have one thing in common, good aesthetics image
i wanted the gen2 switches for the razer huntsman te v2 but my dad said that those were on the huntsman te normal and i was kinda disapointed that i didnt get them but im happy i even got a keyboard :)
I've bought a hunstman v2 with linear red switches, It's soooo silent and feels incredible good. No hearing click when u are playing is amazing but i think razer synapse makes a trouble with icue software, i cant play with my mouse in wireless mode, it makes auto-clicks o it doesnt respond xd.
I'm really interested in that linear gen2 switch. I was never a fan of obnoxiously loud clicky switches, and even though I love the smoothness in most of the linear ones I've tried, the clackity clack bottom out noise is something I'd love to see mitigated more consistently across all brands. Being an optical switch makes it even more interesting, given my unfortunate experience with key chatter on various cherry MX boards despite my efforts to keep them clean. I like how more manufacturers are steering towards that optical tech, but I hope Razer's efforts to further sound dampening can also be reflected on the market as a whole. Silence is something that isn't catered enough in gaming boards, for some reason.
same. for me steelseries and razer keyboards are good. i was thinking to choose huntsmann mini or apex pro tkl but i choosed apex pro tkl. apex pro tkl is winning with all expect sound
Hey, {{3}}! I totally agree with you. Finding a keyboard switch that offers a smooth experience without the loud noise can be a challenge. Have you considered trying the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a compact yet powerful cleaning tool that can help you keep your keyboard clean and free from dust and debris, extending its lifespan. It's definitely worth checking out!
Hey there! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I totally understand your desire for a quiet keyboard switch. Razer's linear gen2 switch seems like a great choice, especially with the optical technology and potential sound dampening improvements. By the way, have you checked out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a handy device for keeping your desktop clean, and it's reasonably priced compared to other brands. Just thought I'd share a recommendation! Keep on optimizing your setup! 💪
I am buying Razer Huntsman Mini (I have a small desk and I need space for books and papers) but I am still not sure if I want to go with purple or red optical switches. I have been using linear switches for quite some time now but I like how reds sound and I wanna try them out. Alse clicky switched sound like they are better for MOBA games (I dont play FPS that offten). I would like to hear some rocommendations or expiriences from others. If u have Razer Huntsman let me know how are u with the choice you made!
Aaaahhhhhh , that purple switch, such comfortable sound.😍
Any idea when the Razer Huntsman TE will have the gen2 optical reds?
if anyone reads this, does the palm rest thingy move around while gaming or does it stick to where u place it cuz i'm debating on getting a keyboard with those palm rest thingies and cuz it's neither magnetic or sticks with plastic grips i have the feeling it will move around the whole time while gaming. (thinking about Huntsman TE)
Are those red linear gen 2 switches already on the Huntsman TE? or is it still gen 1?
I have used Green for many years but the board i am using broke last night (black widow elite) and the space bar is messed up. But i think i am going to get the Huntsman v2 and get the purple switches and see how it is. The software has never done much for me and i have never bothered with it but the Razer Keyboards are the best because they come with a great wrist rest for comfort. Great video, thanks for making it.
Huntsman Gen 2 ... Good performance and good to hear - IMO
Can you pls make a video on where to buy your keyboard switches, thank you.
Mecha-Membrane feel and sound so good to me. For my next desktop I will definitely have a keyboard with them.
please no
Hope you are joking lol. A fking membrane keyboard with some modification to make it clicky is retarded. Either full membrane or a true mechanical keyboard please.
I don't know, the Razer gen 2 just sound mushy... Also those 5 grams could possibly deliver a faster switch so I will get the Huntsman TE and if I dont like the sound mod it... Probably use foam and lube the switches... what do you think?
Any chance you can do a guide on other companies' (Logitech, Corsair, etc.) keyboard switches?
Super Informative video!!!! Epic!!!
Does the tkl huntsman still use the gen 1 keys or did they start using gen 2 because of the problems
Are gen1 optical switches compatible with gen 2 optical switches? If so can i swap my gen 1 switches on Huntsman TE with gen 2 switches?
How long did it take you to adjust to the huntsman TE?
wow red optical 2 sounds great! (or lack thereof)
Razer Oranges are actually a nice tactile switch (when properly lubed). The bump is rounded; more like a Zealio than an MX Clear or Holy Panda. A bit too light for me for typing but really good to game on.
Hey there! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I totally agree with you that Razer Oranges are great for gaming, but may feel a bit light for typing. By the way, have you heard about the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a compact and powerful cleaning tool that could revolutionize your cleaning routine. Definitely worth checking out! 😄
Goooooooooooood work on light effect !!
9:00 I just want a good analog keyboard that works.. I regret not getting the isku fx force when it came out, would be awesome playing games where you can walk slower or control vehicles more gently
If they make the huntsman TE wireless with gen 2 red linear switches.
ohhh that would be incredible. But I'm not committed to wireless keyboards just yet.
-D.
@@HardwareCanucks not necessary but useful to have.
ayo do u know that the huntsman TE alredy have those gen 2 red linear switches? or is it gen 1?
@@WillhartWicksen tag me when you find it out pls! thx!
Man I have both gen 1 and gen 2 but gen 1 just feels so good in games that need precise movement like csgo and valorant
That 5 gram difference is really needed.
I would like if they made gen2 switches with an option of 40 or 45 grams because I personally love 40 gram switches
Currently own a Huntsman V2 Optical Analog, it's way better than any keyboard I previously owned, even my K95 Platinum XT with blue switches
Heyy! Thank for that video. I was about to buy a keyboard with green swtiches for FPS games but would go for the yellow switches after watching this. I couldn't tell which link it was in the description. Can someone help me out please?

For clicky, I've had greens over and over and one set of orange. I like the greens a lot better than the oranges but again it's all preference, however there is a reason they got rid of the oranges, they were just not that good at typing (compared to the greens) and not that good at gaming(compared to the yellow), they were very mediocre overall. However at work I actually use yellows now because the greens I had were just too loud, the oranges just feel cheap to me, and when I was on the phones, I had every client commenting on my typing. Since switching over to the yellows, I still get the odd comment if I am really bottoming out but still, I've been won over. I have become so much more accurate bc of how sensitive they can be at first, especially coming from something so forgiving as the green, but I type like a bullet now, over 100wpm. I was always over 75wpm but hovered between 75-80 for years but within a couple days I was over 90 and within a week well over 100wpm ( I blame the razer green and mx cherry blue switches for plateauing me for so many years lol ). I am quite the anomaly though it seems because I I don't really care which I use, it really depends on what I'm doing. I didn't think I would like typing with yellows but like I said, it allowed me to actually hit the speeds I knew I could when typing and it also helped with my accuracy overall. I never get fatigue from using the yellow as I have from long days typing on any type of tactile bump switch. It feels satisfying but after some hours of typing, you wish you didn't have to always press passed to bump to register. Something to note that people like to mention: Just as fast as you can make a mistake on a yellow, you can delete it too, it's all relative in speed and correction. With tactile switches you are less likely to make a mistake but you still will and it'll take longer to type and longer to erase... Yellows are fast all around and actually very comfortable. I never got the hype on orange though, I had one and I sold it after they went out of stock. In my opinion, If you want clicky and tactile you go with Green or Purple or mxcherry blue, nothing else lol. If you want linear, you go with yellow or redv2. And then it's whatever you like more. My home computer will always be super annoying and clicky. Always lol but that's because I won't be typing for hours on end on it. For that I had to go linear. The redv1s weren't my thing but once I tried the yellow switches I haven't really looked back when it comes to work and typing sessions.
Which switch would you recommend in terms of smoothness and responsiveness? The HyperX Reds/Razer Yellows/Razer Optical Reds/Gatreon Silvers.
Nice Video!
Great video
