I think that the holding of the hands of each other, both men and women, brings about a sense of love and unity, for God, His children, and His music. Fifty years ago this would have been impossible. I know because I was there. Today I am proud to be here, watching and listening to this great choir. To God be the Glory!
Marvellous and majestic! Fantastic choir, director and organist....and what a wonderful organ...love the growly bass when it’s required. I was also an organist for over 30 years.
I was a student at St Olaf 1960-62. I am so grateful for this experience. The sound of the Choir, the organ & congregation singing will be with me always.
The acoustics in this church are amazing. Remember hearing (and watching) this church perform "Abide With Me". Goose bumps, galore! The organist was fantastic (as this one is). So glad they have more videos. Thank you for sharing this one!
I have listened to this about 10 times - simply beautiful and inspiring. I so appreciate the use and playing of the pipe organ in this hymn. The choir and congregation are clearly enjoying the moment! Wonderful!
On my bucket list: to travel from Ohio to St. Olaf and hear this wonderful choir in person. Just wondering how I would choose a time to go to hear them in concert.
When the morning stars together Author: Albert F. Bayly When the morning stars together their creator's glory sang, and the angel host all shouted till with joy the heavens rang, then your wisdom and your greatness their exultant music told, all the beauty and the splendor which your mighty works unfold. When in synagogue and temple voices raised the psalmists' songs, offering the adoration which alone to you belongs, when the singers and the cymbals with the trumpet made accord, glory filled the house of worship, and all knew your presence, Lord. Voice and instrument, in union through the ages, spoke thy praise. Plainsong, tuneful hymns, and anthems told your faithful, gracious ways. Choir and orchestra and organ each a sacred offering brought, while, inspired by your own Spirit, poet and composer wrought. Lord, we bring our gift of music; touch our lips and fire our hearts, teach our minds and train our senses, fit us for this sacred art. Then with skill and consecration we would serve you, Lord, and give all our powers to glorify you, and in serving fully live.
I found it by accident in You tube...i cant stop hearing them. Glory to God!!!!
Me too! I've heard it like 500 times It´s amazing!!!!
…and to Dr. A for arranging it. Over the years he’s brought so much warmth into liturgical music. He even cracked a joke at the end!

Thank you for pointing that out....I missed it at first.
The sanctuary is absolutely gorgeous as well as the organ, choir, and congregation. This is my kind of setting since I am an organist.
Agreed. This makes me want to visit this church and play this organ. Not sure if that will be allowed.
Beautiful sanctuary, organ, choir, congregation all singing praises to our awesome God.

WOW.
The idea of stars ringing inspired a scientist to look for gravity waves: all from a Presbyterian Hymn.
Richard Morrissey And from another hymn "the worlds Thy hands hath made."
Good, buy why the Congregation sitting during hymns singing?
Paul Isaac: In protestant churches the opening hymn and final hymn are sung standing. Each church has its own traditions.
+Paul Issac This song is being sung as a choral anthem with the congregation joining in for two of the verses.
This is a college chapel and a choir performance, not a church service (though since a Lutheran college, sacred music often performed.)
This could be a concert, with some audience participation, and not necessarily a true church service.
