Watching skateboarding is awesome, the way they perform tricks seems so effortless...
But is it? Actually how hard is skateboarding? These 3 non skateboarders set out on a journey to learn to skateboard over a different period of times from 1 day up to 30 days. We follow along with their progression and see how fast they can learn.

Yo don’t give up. Skating culture can be “elite” at times. They’ll throw around words like you are a poser etc. Don’t pay them any mind. You do you. If you can only ride without falling and that’s good for you, then that’s victory. Set your own goals.

Nope, you're not. Just got back into skateboarding after not skating since 2006(I sucked back then since I only skated for a few months). I'm 42 now. No reason to feel weird or awkward. Just do what makes you happy and let the gatekeepers be mad.

I was 42 when I for the first time ever stood on a skateboard. First thing I did was just learned to get on it and push. Everything after that was learning through braile and some tutelage from kids at the park. I'm now 2½ years into skate and ride ramps and bowls. Also being in my 40's, old bones knee braces, elbow, knee pads and helmet are a must

I was having a sesh on a hill and i let out at 2 meter stand up slide, a kid with a sector 9 twin tip with no grip tape was just chilling in the shade, he was so amazed that you could do that on a board he asked me if i was scared and i patted my head with a helmet on and i told him with this helmet you'll never be scared. He asked me why dont you have elbow pads and i told him your knees and elbows can heal but your head is more important. i feel like i imparted some valuable advice to that kid.

As a new skater at 28 I relate a lot to this, though I lean more towards just cruising and hill bombing as a way of being active. I do have a setup for tricks, which I try in the backyard and can kind of tic tac, but a big worry is hurting my wrists because I work with my hands and kind of need them, so that is a big hindrance unfortunately. But I am determined, I'll just very slowly build up to doing more tricks 😅

    • @JustinThomasSkateboarding

@@JustinThomasSkateboarding Yeah, I do skate any day that it isn't raining, but I think the problem is I go cruising and my cruising board is different to the trick board. So I've been thinking of just slapping some cruising wheels on my skateboard to get better used to riding that particular board 🤔 But yeah, I do have and wear all the protective gear, but thanks for the suggestions! Definitely will be keeping at it 😃

I think with many skills, people see others do it effortlessly then they think it's easy. Not just with skateboarding.
As a sidenote, I haven't decided yet if I'm gonna start with skateboarding at all, as it looks scary and the skate park is like at the other end of town. And the best I can do is ask my friends if they know anyone who knows how to skate and can help me learn it.
And I feel like I won't be able to learn it all alone from the internet.
I'm 25 and never did skateboarding, but the thought of me rolling around town lives rent free in my head so much that it would be a massive improvement from just walking to everywhere.

Skating is way more difficult then I ever expected. I learned, but it wasn't without blood, bruises, and broken bones

i remember when i first learned to ollie it took me 1 day but i was like 11 ish around the time and being hard headed i was out there for like 4-5 hours and for the first 2-3 hours i couldnt even pop and around 4 1/2 hours i got it to pop and a little over the 5 hour mark i landed my first ollie but the falling was not nice and after quitting and coming back now at 16 i can say i regret that but its still really funny and i enjoy a lot more now and im omw to learning how to kick flip
