1) To exit the game, you have to pause it, which is TAB on pc, and the Back Button on an xbox controller. There's a menu with "Resume", "Controls", and "Return to Title Screen". You exit from said Title Screen. 2) I'm using my controller just fine, but yeah, having it open up a Steam Controller window just to rebind the controls is odd. I re-binded my controls to X for attack, Y to Arte 1, B for dodge/guard, LB for Arte 2, and LT for Arte 3. I'm hoping it'll end up like Vesperia where you get to shortcut to other Artes as well. The 3 for ground, and 3 for aerial feels limited so far, where Vesperia you could bind 12 altogether: Four onto the arte attack button with left stick, four on the right stick, four on LB plus left stick, and LB plus the four on the right stick.

Hi ACG, I worked out how to quit the game instead of ALT-Tabbing. If you are using an Xbox controller on your PC, hold down the "View" button (that's the button with the two rectangles overlapping each other). This will give you the option to exit to the "Title Menu". Then you can choose "Quit Game"

A small note about the controller issue. I used a PS4 controller while in Steam Big Picture mode. When you have it linked you can then hit the options button and there is a return to title option there, which has an exit button the title. ^-^ Hope that helped. Enjoyed the review in progress and am enjoying the game so far myself. Have a good one.

Badass New Tales of Swordsman Badass New Tales of Punchy Badass Mages And Badass battle mechanics! And the way the skits play like comic book panels, awesome
same here. funny thing, I have actually owned tales of vesperia on switch for over a year at least and have never played it. I bought it on sale, and it is also on gamepass. this one, however, I am going to have to play it as soon as I buy it.
I wish there would be a preview clip on all the available artes in the artes menu so it's easier to figure out which artes chain better with other artes..also wish we could toggle the target lock on/off instead of instant auto lock-on when combat initiates..still it's a great game though..it's on par with Final Fantasy 7 Remake for me..
It's been a long time since I've last played an entry in the Tales series so I'm glad that you brought this one to my attention. I look forward to a more in depth review on Friday. Otherwise, thanks once again Karak for another solid video!
It's a pretty long running series, I'd recommend checking out Tales of Berseria too (the previous Tales of) as it's got a great story (especially for a JRPG) and decent combat too.
Probably posted before I skimmed through 20 comments not looking at >600. Controller is a bug. A fix is on the stream page posted as news. Affected a few ppl but the fix isn't difficult. I have a different issue with controller- i have what is an Xbox controller (not original) for PC but I'm used to Switch or playstation input. I cannot change what buttons the UI shows, and even though it's recognizes my switch controller when I plug it and stream helps me with the facebuttons by swapping them that still makes the combat UI weird as the x button is still shown in top but I have y on top. For exiting the game you can do Pause menu > return to title > close game but I find alt+F4 to be faster
About the controller issues, I had this happening in other games and then I went to steam controller settings, unchecked steam controller and never had them happening again.
That sounds good! My computer is not the best of gaming pc's anymore, so I purchased an Xbox Series X like two months ago. This game right here.. it will be the first one I planned on playing on that Series X. I'm glad to hear that this game seems to do alright. I do believe that at first unlikable sarcastic character is a classic Tales choice though. Every Tales game seems to have one of those, some get a bit more likable at the end, some you will hate forever and some have actual character development. I am pretty sure it's (as always) the mage you were talking about. I'm curious to find out if that one gets more likable over time, or not..!
I normally like them, personally. It isn't always the mage though, for instance in Abyss Luke starts out as the most unlikable person alive (I genuinely hated him at first, he's the reason I said I "normally" like them). In my experience it's more about the character's naivete mixed with some sense of superiority whether real or imagined. To be clear I don't tend to like them as people, but as characters I usually do. Probably because I grew up with a few people who were like that when we were kids but later grew out of it. Hell I was probably a bit like that myself honestly. So I have a pretty similar sense of humor to them (though not at anyone's expense except my own anymore) and can usually tell whether they're actually bad people (Luke) or if they're just insecure and awkward (Rita). I haven't played far enough in Arise to have an opinion yet, and strangely I'm getting mixed signals but that's probably mostly to do with the setting we're in.
love this channel so much, I have played Tales of since 2008! Vesperia is my favorite, but finally there is a Tales that will replace Vesperia! Man I cannot wait! My hype has now reached absolutely insane heights! Finally Tales of is getting the respect it's deserved!!
Just beat this game the other day. Really liked the ending. Overall a great Tales game. Beautiful graphics. I put it up there with Vesperia, IMO. Also, I use my Xbox controller when playing, not sure why it wouldn't let you. For exiting the game on the Controller its the select button which brings up a little menu with "resume, skip, return to title screen". Odd of there isn't a button for it on keyboard.
@@bojangler9685 I definitely love Tri-Ace. Well, the last Tales game I played was sort of run-of-the-mill but this one I have high hopes for. I'm probably not going to get it for some time because I plan on getting a Switch lite and SMT V first but I'll eventually get it. I'd love a new V.P. or S.O., I enjoy both of those series.
Sounds great. I enjoyed the demo a fair big but I imagine I'll wait for the Golden Week sale next year to pick it up. I'm done with full price games with the exception of huge titles like Horizon and God of War.
I got pretty detailed with the gambit system, and could run through things without having to worry about what the other characters would do. I had since forgotten about it until just now. When you have it linked you can then hit the options button and there is a return to title option there, which has an exit button the title. ^-^ Hope that helped. Enjoyed the review in progress and am enjoying the game so far myself. Have a good one.
There were some great comments during this review, well done sir for making me laugh so much 😄
Been waiting for this for 5 years! And, it has been well worth the wait. Great fucking job Namco, I got the same feeling playing this as I did when I played symphony and destiny remake the first time.
Badass New Tales of Swordsman
Badass New Tales of Punchy
Badass Mages
And Badass battle mechanics!
And the way the skits play like comic book panels, awesome
Press tab to open up the menu which will allow you to return to the main menu while playing with mouse and keyboard
Tab brings up a small menu and you can return to main menu and exit. Wish you could exit game from it tho.
This game has me pretty interested and I've never played anything in this series.
Bruh! The "Tales Of" games are some of the better JRPGs out there :3 Absolutely check them all out if Arise tickles your pickle!
same here. funny thing, I have actually owned tales of vesperia on switch for over a year at least and have never played it.
Otherwise, thanks once again Karak for another solid video!
i have never heard of this i’ll definitely check it out after seeing the gameplay & hearing your thoughts can’t wait for the channel review 😅
12:55 Controller compatibility and exiting are DLCs
About the controller issues, I had this happening in other games and then I went to steam controller settings, unchecked steam controller and never had them happening again.
To exit you press TAB and exit to title screen and then ti desktop
Great voice work! So calming and well orated!
thank you so much for having this up right after the embargo!
love this channel so much, I have played Tales of since 2008! Vesperia is my favorite, but finally there is a Tales that will replace Vesperia! Man I cannot wait!
My hype has now reached absolutely insane heights! Finally Tales of is getting the respect it's deserved!!
Glad you enjoy it!
Good Good got the Best reviewer on UA-cam’s seal of approval. More than good enough for me😚
Just beat this game the other day.
This looks like it's shaping up to be of the best in the series. I'm definitely looking forward to it! Thanks for the review.
no, tales games have gone downhill. im sorry... let hope star ocean or valkyrie profile comes back and tri-Ace shows em how its really done
@@bojangler9685 What do u mean , star ocean and a Valkyrie profile like game went downhill from tri ace
@@bojangler9685 Star Ocean hasn't been since 2. 3 was mediocre. 4 and 5 were downright dogshit.
@@War624 star ocean 3 is better than 2 in every way lmaoo and 4 was decent had the best combat in the series
This guy does the best reviews, im ready for tales of arise on Friday! Well after work that is.
I forgot about it until just now. I remember loving it, but I feel like I remember it being kind of controversial too.
Thanks for this, I've been looking forward to a new tales game for a long time!
8:09 "This has to be made into a meme, nuff said." You almost had me crying bro ... Oh my GOD.
Only issue I have so far is there's no quit button, it's so dumb lol you either die to a boss and go back to main menu or just Alt-tab it
