Jenna Leonhardt-Michaelis The glove is a poor conductor of heat, so since he's moving the glove through the flame and not holding it in place, there isn't enough heat being applied consistently to one area of the glove to really retain the heat. It's the same effect if you move your finger through a candle flame. It doesn't get burned unless you hold it in the flame a bit longer so it can conduct enough heat to raise the temperature to dangerous levels. If he were to hold the glove to the torch in one spot, it would melt through, probably fairly quickly.
