I love your videos, I can’t get enough of them! Your bubbly, sassy, over-the-top sense of humor personality has me coming back all the time. If we were to look up the word “fun” in a dictionary, I’m almost sure that your picture & definition would be there. Thank you for all that you do, YOU put the fun in the impossible. Your videos are so concise, & down-to-earth. I consider myself a seasoned sewist, yet I always look forward to your videos every time.
Love the colour of your rotary cutter . Your very good at assuring us things are pretty easy to do , however , it’s not as easy when you try and do it , the finished item is lovely however thanks for sharing , fo
This is so cool 😎!! Thanks for sharing your work!❤(that 4”-from-the-edge sewn line is like ‘scoring’ done on scrapbooking paper, which makes the paper easier to fold. Smart!)😊
While watching the make up bag tutorial, I told my husband "ohhhh I bet you make a duffle bag the same way" and this tutorial popped up next in my feed!!! I'm super excited to try this one also.
Teacher, you done good! I had to buy a walking foot for my machine. I've not yet attached it to my machine and gotten back to my project again since before Christmas. Now that the holidays are over, I can devote more time to them. I am not going to do this bag with a zipper I am just doing one of your other tote bags. It is the one you did for fall with the pumpkins and potholder pocket. Depending on how well that one turns out I may try a zipper bag. I love all your projects especially the Dollar Tree ones. Thanks for sharing
❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂 Okay I'm hooked. Tiis is the second video of yours that I've seen. where have you been all my life girl I am going to find me some watermelon fabric at the Dollar Tree and get to sewing. 😅 thank you
I just finished making this bag, and it was loads of fun! I haven’t been able to do much sewing in the past 6 years. I needed something fun to get my feet wet again. This project was definitely up my alley! Cheap, easy access to supplies, and fun! Thanks for the tutorial❤️❤️❤️
I l8ve in Canada. Our dollar tree store sell everything for $1.50. Still a great deal!! I use the interfacing yiur using all the time...its great stuff and the piece is a full yard!! To but interfacing off the bolt here can cost anywher from $4-$10 per yard!
Chelsea, here's a crazy cool tip for edge stitching, like on your straps, that I've learned in the last year or so. If you're machine has a mirror image option, you can set the option to move your needle to the left position and stitch down the left side of your strap. Then to stitch the right edge, select the mirror image option. This will move your needle to the same position, but on the right side of center. Doing it this way, you can rest the entire presser foot in the fabric instead of half on and half off. It also helps prevent any wrinkling from being fed through in two directions.
I love your teaching how to sew on a budget. It doesn’t take a lot of money to be creative. I didn’t get to have expensive notions or materials when I started, but I fell in love with all that I could create. Plus like you said thrift your supplies you will be surprised at the treasures you will find!
Very cute and clever. I already made two of the one dish mat ones. Thanks for the ideas. Btw. I made the bags without cutting the mat in half. Only the two corners to finish up. My husband requested one for his fishing stuff. 🥰
I love your videos! I’ve been researching finding a tutorial for a sewing machine cover. Think these would work for that? 🤔 Thank you for all you do!! ❤❤
I want to thank you very much as a new sewer, I like the way you teach, you don't talk down to us, and you don't assume we know things that a new sewer doesn't know. I came across this video on you tube and have watched a few of your videos and love them. thank you very much. I am gonna make my grandaughters these bags for Christmas. thanks again Tina
I’ve been watching your tutorials Chelsea She Sews & I just love your dollar tree store purses & tote bags I’ve made a few bags but I’m still new to this I’ve made a tote bag not with dish dry foam & the bottom after was a little soft so I bought a hard plastic place mat & cut it the size of the bottom of the tote after I finished the tote I I then covered the plastic piece with the same lining by sewing it & was able to use in the bottom of the bag therefore making it usable with a firmer base or using it without but keep those videos coming !!! I’ve already learned a lot & you’re right it makes it more fun!!! Thanks!!
Great job! I love this. And you are so wonderful at teaching these tutorials. Thank you very much. I've been sewing all my life, but I love how you have this all figured out for you and for everyone who watches this tutorial. ❤
❤❤I am here binging on your videos in your Channel as I am stuck at an airport in Guadalajara, Mexico 🇲🇽 waiting to take a flight to Los Angeles and then to New Mexico. I have long hours ahead of me and I am SO happy I found your channel. I am enjoying your videos very much and learning and your energy has eased my pain and frustration with a “return flight from a vacation trip gone wrong”. Thank you!! Thank you!!! And guess where I am going first thing when I get to New Mexico? Dollar Tree!!😂😂. Beautiful bag. Awesome energy. God bless. 🌺
I am 69 and have always wanted to do this bag. You are the best teacher, you are the only one I can understand and you aren't too fast with teaching, you are just Amazing, thank you so much
You r so right about learning new things. I have sewn for 58 years n I loved your tip about using the edge of the zipper tape to fold over the raw edge. That was a brilliant idea.
This was fantastic so easily explained and executed. I thought you might mention that at the end, when you were putting the sides on is when you could give the person the option to have the red on the outside or the watermelon on the outside 😊 NEW SUBSCRIBER HERE!!!
Great job! I love how your duffle bag came out. Looking forward to making one. Thanks for making these videos. I love how you continue to encourage me on this new sewing journey of mine!
What is that ginormous spool 🧵 of thread 🪡 you are using? I’d like to know!! I do like that you mention the stitch length you are using most Makers do not when making a tutorial. ❤
I love watching your channel. I have a sewing machine that hasn't seen the light of day for 20 years. I can't even remember how to use it. I'm tempted to have a go. . ....❤
Or, rather than buying a fat quarter for the handles, buy 2 rolls of ribbon, & line w/the interfacing & sew the ribbon back to back to make the straps. Now the straps match the decorator ribbon down the middle of the bag. Done & Done. Now your duffle bag is totally cohesive w/the total vibe that you originally set out to do. Give yourself a pat on the back, because you did it! Yay you!!!! Congratulations.
This is a great idea!… I think I would do the same thing but use a fat quarter for the straps and sew the ribbon on top of the fat quarter straps so that there’s a bit of the fat quarter on each side of the ribbon.
I have a huge crush on your channel. You are simply amazing and this project is so going to the top of my to do list. Just waiting for payday, senior citizen here on a fixed income, but the budget will just have to squeal a bit this month, that duffle bag is getting made for my sister. And then maybe for my two daughters. And then maybe for myself! Good thing these are so cost effective, otherwise I may have to get a loan!! 😄
This is a terrific project. I especially like the directions you give, as if we have never sewn before, even if we have. It makes me feel so safe in doing this project. So many seamstresses make a tutorial for novice sewers and that is difficult to follow. I do have a tip for those zipper tabs to share. It is a huge fabric and finger saver! I take a two by two inch piece of scrap fabric, fold it in half. Then put the needle on that, in the middle and it will give the needle something to grab onto so your small pieces of sewing do not get stuck in the machine. Just sew from the middle of your scrap square right to your small sewing area and BAMMO! You can complete the stitching without your needle getting stuck! I'm a quilter and I use that tip all the time, which was demonstrated to me from a fellow quilter. And also, thank you for showing how the baby lock works. I always wondered if it was worth the money.
Linda from Texas - Chelsea, I love watching your videos. You explain everything so clearly and it’s refreshing to see the joy you get from making something and sharing it with everyone. Keep up the good work.
Great Tutorial...just found you on youtube, and love your personality, beautiful eyes, and your great teaching methods...I had seen a tutorial about a year ago where you sew strips of fabrics to the dish mats, and thought how cute would it be to make one using all the pretty fabrics we have and make the outside even more prettier! I think I might try it...thank you!
On a recent trip to Asia, I folded this bag up and put it in my luggage. On my return flight home, i used it as a carryon filled with souvenirs that I didn’t have room for in my suitcase…It worked beautifully!!! Thanks again!
I’ve made two duffel bags out of the dish drying mat and one out of pre-quilted material I had in my stash and for the mats I used dog leashes for the handles
I have been watching UA-cam for a long time and I just discovered you and watched your video on making the duffel bag. You are an awesome teacher. Somebody made the comment that you are the Mr. Rogers of Sewing and I greatly agree with that because I’m 78 years old and I learned a lot from you and I think that’s awesome. I will watch your videos and learn from you and probably be able to get some new projects going for myself. You are not only informative. You’ve got the greatest personality and you are the sweetest lady. Please don’t ever lose that personality of yours. You should be on a national channel craft channel somewhere because you are really good and I’m just so glad that I ran into you. Thank you so much for the wonderful entertainment and for all of the things that I’m learning from you. Just keep going girl the more you go the more we all learn thank you,
Old jeans could be cut and used for the handles. Also, we used to cut all buttons off of old clothing and zippers. One of the zippers from these could be utilized as practicing working with zippers.
Hey Chelsea I am so in love with your channel and your videos… I was wandering if you could do the watermelon duffle bag with a lining? I want to make this so badly but I like bags with linings. Please if you could do one with a lining. Thank you ma’am.

You are the "Mr. Roger's" of sewing ♥️🥳. You're gently easing us (no pun intended 🤣) into a whole new world of sewing! Thanks a bunch Chelsea!!
I totally agree. Mrs Roger's ❤

I love it! That would be a perfect weekender bag. It's amazing what dish drying mats can
make. It's colorful and perky. Thanks for sharing!

I love your videos! I’ve been researching finding a tutorial for a sewing machine cover. Think these would work for that? 🤔 Thank you for all you do!! ❤❤

Picked up my drying mats and fat quarters! I couldn't find any good ribbon, so I think I will just sew a fabric stripe! Thanks for the fun tutorial.

I’ve looked at those several times! My brain needs more time… 😂😂😂
Such a neat idea. I like how it holds its shape. Definitely prefer this kind of handles. Great video ❤

Thank you! Will do!
I found one rogue watermelon mat at my store today - I was way too excited about it haha
I am so glad that I found you. I love your duffel bag. I can’t wait to try it out. 😊
Hope you enjoy it!
I just love your laugh. I love the dollar tree items that you use. So clever!
Thank you so much!
Neat idea! I think by adding the ribbon it will improve the structure of the bag. Especially when the bag is loaded.
I think so too!
I wanted to make a bag for my daughter's and my new rollerskates on their way in the mail! This is such a great idea
Go for it!
@shesewsseams I made one for my daughter's and for my skates 😊. I made the bags smaller. I just boxed all 4 corners, instead.
I love your personality and how you get right to the point❤
Sew beautiful!
I’ve made two duffel bags out of the dish drying mat and one out of pre-quilted material I had in my stash and for the mats I used dog leashes for the handles

Here’s my duffle bags
Hey Chelsea I am so in love with your channel and your videos… I was wandering if you could do the watermelon duffle bag with a lining? I want to make this so badly but I like bags with linings. Please if you could do one with a lining. Thank you ma’am.
