I don't know if this is a change from the watermarked version you had access to, or if it was missed because it's buried in the Army Comp section of the published PDF. But Chaos Dwarfs also have access to Hellcannons as a rare choice.
I would love to see CD army on the channel. It was the first Fantasy army I started WAY back when. It is the army I plan to build when I get started again.
Chorfs continuing the trend of being one of the most bonkers armies in the game.... Super strong mid range shooting (wtf are those blunderbusses) with a couple of tricksy long range artillery pieces (Deathshrieker with 5" blast that tests panic on a single wound!) Slow but hyper elite dwarven infantry (basically chaos warrior equivalents with less initiative) The absolute cheapest screening chaff in the game... hobgoblins only cost 3 points and don't cause panic in your actual heavy hitters when they panic Bull Centaurs are what ogres wish they were And they have plenty of good magical items and support on top of this (your sorcerer even doubles as a engineer) Absolutely bananas
@@Sven-kw1rl they are definitely kinda meh on the whole (except for the hellcannon which you should definitely take 1-2 of) but the s3 5” blast rocket that causes panic tests on one wound is actually a great tech piece since it can break up the enemies plans and possibly cause a decent bit of damage vs chaff blocks
Arty is really really good. Its great vs low leadership armies to cause panic all around. Been playing it and its really good vs Goblins...Skaven...and Empire/Brets
You can take 3 mantle of stone and a monster mount to get toughness 9 on your prophet/castillen/black orc warboss making you immune to attacks below S4
Very excited to bring my Chaos Dwarfs to this new edition. Very pleased to see old units from 4th/5th/6th that were missing in 8th make a return. A few thoughts: - Sneaky Gits are essential and nice to see their rules finally reflect their lore. Best iteration of the unit to date. These guys will make great blockers, screeners, harass war machines, March block, rear charge, or even just gaurd the artillery pool. - A shame a fighty Lord can’t take mounts but a tooled up sorcerer prophet on a mount will be a great character influencing every phase of every turn. - The iron daemon is beautiful and giving it Hellbound makes it cause terror!! - Artillery is a little weaker but that’s good for balance and there’s some good options for different jobs. A well placed rocket could panic some chaff off the table on turn one even if it only causes one wound. - Daemonology and Dark magic look like solid lores for my army! - Infernal Ironsworn look like a brilliant unit, albeit expensive. Detachments is a welcome addition and very thematic. Love to see it! - I love blunderbusses but it’s going to be difficult to make them work. Their short range means they aren’t going to be getting many firing turns in and it’s going to be hard to bring 20 to bear to get access to all the special rules. Shame as I have 30 of them! - Bolt throwers are great in this edition, very nice to see the Hob bolt thrower back. I think I’ll be using all 4 of mine in 2k games. - Lammasu’ weaker stats are made up for by the fact that it has magic res and nerfs enemy magic weapons. It’s going to be great in challenges, especially with some blood of Hashut and the terror has good synergy with some deamonology spells that lower LD. It’s cheap enough to have a secondary caster on it flying interference back field. - Hashut magic missile spell will be the bane of low toughness characters. You could conceivably be removing a goblin or human character every turn if you’re lucky. - Hobgoblin khans are great as always. A good beef up in an anvil. A great single character on a wolf. A great suicidal dude with the ‘hellshard’ item. Nice and cheap. I want to field one on a magic carpet just for fun. Or add the ruby ring. - Hob archers are super cheap in MSU format. Nice screen or getting in the way dudes that if they kill a few people earn their points back. - Horde/Warband make cutthroat blocks a bit more viable, I think the banner of slavery might be an important thing to have on my black orcs to hold the goblins in line. - Sad that we can no longer take goblins with spears or orc boys like we could in 6th. - Chaos Warrior allies is intersting… maybe I’ll make some warriors who worship Hashut!! Anyway!! I’m excited. You can check out my Chaos Dwarf army in my Instagram here: instagram.com/praise_hashut?igsh=OTFkNTdxc2ZpZ211&
The Skullcracker is a Heavy Chariot so gets the -2Ap on those sweet impact hits, it also couples well with Hellbound, giving a unit with that Stat line Terror is fantastic. As a downside toothed Iron Demon being a Heavy Chariot and not a Warmachine, it won't get to take advantage of the Demonsmiths ability to re-roll an Artillery die as its not a Warmachine, which pushes you towards the Hellbound upgrade. I am going to run my Skullcracker with a Flame Cannon in tow, laying down a barrage of fire as it meat grinds everything that dare gets in its way.
So excited for the chaos dwarfs, I've been hoping for this since the mid 00' ! One disappointment is the lack of the 20x50mm regular bull centaurs, but I'm very bias here because I own 10 of the classic 5th edition ones and theyre my favorite miniatures of all time still. The newer bull centaur renders seem so expensive, and in my opinion they should be wearing heavy armor. If i do play with the renders , would have to put 2-3 5th edition centaurs on that 50x75mm base to make them fit better
Very cool that the Chaos Dwarfs got such good and cool rules! Hopefully they will bring back the Forge World range and even the classic metal ones from 4th or even some 3rd edition models as those fit with the Forge World style really well too!
They've said that there will be no support for the legacy armies, including long term. So it's unlikely that chaos dwarfs will come back. It's more likely they will get a AoS release before that happens actually.
@@AlpineSapien Broke the casts? You have source on that? They could "recast" them from production models and resculpt any loss of detail. Certainly very unlikely, but possible.
@@Ethnarches for the old metal ones yes, I was told this by GW staff members/area manager/heavy metal team. If you are looking for solid evidence there is none, just word of mouth. The forge world stuff would lightly come back however as those are still reasonably modern and are due a potential AOS release.
I honestly need to convert up some Great Weapon Bullcentaur Renders, I think that's the special sauce with them, you need the charge, the impact hits will mitigate incoming damage, then the Great Weapons make sure their low number of attacks make maximum impact.
I know they changed a lot with TOW but I have to say Chaos Dwarf Artillery is the first thing ever I kinda dislike after READING it. Dreadquake Mortar from Strength 5(10) with Armor Piercing to 3 AP - and the Demoliton Rocket from a huge single shot to another blast seems kinda meh. Again, thats just reading it, so need to get it on the table first.
Well it was pretty broken before and now it’s definitely meh, hellcannons are the way to go and maybe 1 5” panic rocket Aside from that the rest of the units are very very strong still
Strong units but expensive. I think they look quite strong, basically having dwarf resilien e and infantry combined with strong mages and combat/monster rider heroes. They have good chaff and skirmish units and crazy shooting, but slow and low range. The artillery is weird, dont know how worth it is.
If you compare the chaos dwarves to similar dwarven holds units you will find that the DH units are either quite a bit cheaper or just better, sometimes both. CD Infernal guard lost their plate armour and 5+ ward vs fire, but stayed the same cost this edition (similar DH units got cheaper).
I most say... sometimes its better to read and think before doing a videos like this xP "ignore all what I just said.." for example. I know I know, its all new for us. All I say is: it would be nice to see you more prepared and have ideas how to fight with or against the Zharr Dawi :)
Planning to use Sorceror-Prophet on Lammasu with breath weapon upgrade, so -1 aura is no brainer. Also plannig to have Black Orc warboss on wyvern as me melee threat. Also giving both of them Mantle of Stone to get boss' Toughness to 7 and prphet's Toughness to 6-, lammasu models are actually easy to get, like just look out at Infernal Dwarf line of Mantic Games, there are free files for one for 3D printing and can be easily convert from varios AoS mosters... Also there are quite sweet bid hat dwarf models available as 3D files wink wink nudge nudge
CD have some of the best 3D print options going. I'm assembling my army from my original 4th Ed models, some AoS hobgoblins and the Lost Kingdom and Fabelzel prints!
I bought a whole load of Chaos Dwarves from FW. I sadly didn't buy any of the artillery, but have 9 Renders, a Taur'ruk, Shar'Tor the Executioner, 40 fireglaives, 30 Ironsworn, a Drazoath the Ashen, a set of Full Command (1x Banner, 1x Castellan and a Musician) and the Warhammer World Daemonsmith... The army has been used a whole bunch of times for AoS as I bought the army just as the End Times started... Woopdy doo. I tried to scribble up a list but have always been trash with list building... Any advice would be great!
That is actually a perfect combination of units from the bests lists I’ve come up with, maybe get a couple of hellcannons 3d printed and run the firepikes as blunderbuss proxies sometimes. You should be able to tinker with plenty of strong lists with that collection
Hi :) What seems like a no-brainer is to just spam the normal core units. Infernal guard is tanky and cheap. But their ability to be a shooting threat is something to consider, and they are mandatory anyway. Imo blunderbusses are best, but either way that drastically changes their role and cost. I can't see too much use for the expensive Ironsworn. Black Orks are as tanky and cheaper and core, and a block of heavily armoured dwarves simply is not very reactive. Their offense and threat is good, but that will not often come into play. I'd rather use those points for more bodies or something fast and hard hitting. Black Orks can be a great substitute as a command bunker, and are cheaper than Ironsworn. The Boss can be on a wyvern or Chariot, which makes him semi formidable. Even the little boss in a unit is no loss for being mandatory if you go that route. Stone mantles for extra T are great, have those in mind, but most characters suffer from having no innate wards. Your choice if you want the big hat (sorcerer prophet) or have two Daemon smiths lvl 2 instead. Imo, the little wizard on a Lammasu and the big guy on the bale Taurus upped to T7. Which is in the end perhaps not quite as great as a Daemon prince of Chaos, for a comparable price. However, Naphta bombs and bloodvial can increase that damage output a lot, but needs a little luck.. The cheap hobgobbos, 4 points with shield and light armour, are the obvious choice for an anvil with lots and lots of wounds. Seems feeble, but in ToW combat res is very important. I'd use one big block, 30 or more are good. The Boss is cheap enough to have it just for the LD. Or use them to stand around in the way, change directions etc. bows would be good then :) Characters are the best "monster" choice, they seem necessary as fast heavy hitters and counter chargers. Bull Centaurs are beefy, but probably not as great as damage dealers. So perhaps with the character and great weapons. T5 is big though for such a fast attacker. For war machines etc, the magma cannon is solid, and the death shrieker to force panic are good. I don't like the hell cannon, because it is a disaster waiting to happen, but just imo😅 And last but not least, a wolf rider hobgobbo boss with hell shard seems like a great threat to snipe characters, especially with that spell that targets characters specifically (Hashuts curse). Fire born seem weakish, but can work as well. Bull Centaurs seem more solid. And of course the power gamey: Have as many bolt throwers as possible, but caution if you're playing with friends. They seem broken cheap (as they always were) and you can have 2 per 1k points. Sneaky gits and wolf riders for cheap disruption are self explanatory.
And: unless you have a little cheap skirmisher unit, full command is always the best choice in every unit that can take it. Ironsworn and infernal guard (shields as cheap line)in combination are okay, but you'd definitely want hobgobbos, a block and a few small shooters.
Levies cannot use the generals leadership or BSB and hobgoblins are Ld 4-6. So things like wolf riders and sneaky gits are potentially very scared of small arms fire. Levies banner also makes the nearby cutthroat unit very hard to outright break, even with Warband and Horde they're at Ld8, should anything break their rank bonus at charge they're likely fleeing. I don't think it's a must have by any means since warband, ambush and just speed can help the low Ld hobbos but I plan on taking one if I run horde of hobbos in battleline. Also potentially very thematic to have a smaller unit of CD behind hobbos horde keeping them from fleeing.
I've been wondering if it's worth it, seems like a cool option. My current thinking though is a few MSU 10 blocks to be cheap and die. Having super cheap throwaway chaff is always a great tool to have.
Bull centaurs are still there (and super strong) and the quite broken arty definitely got nerfed, hellcannons are still quite viable though if you want high ap arty
