I am just starting my way in designing and making furniture. Your videos are very helpful and interesting to watch. I want to ask what software did you use to build this bed/wardrobe at 1.17 minutes of the video?
As a neophyte woodworker, can I just say how refreshing it is to see someone I hugely admire making the same mistakes that I mentally berate myself for making at the time. THANK YOU for leaving these mistakes in your video to show that even the experts have to cut a pieces twice.
@@finlir Exactly 😂. It’s why I don’t do moulding. I have dyslexia. All the math in the world (at which I am quite good) doesn’t outweigh the ability to cut it wrong 4 times.
Dude. I love your videos. I am a retired disabled vet. After retiring. I needed a hobby to keep my mind occupied. And came across your channel. Literally fell in love with woodworking ever since. My wife and son always tell me,"Thank God you found a hobby." Ironically, it's turning into a business. I'm currently making a table to hold my bourbon. Keep the videos coming.
Love the revival of sweeping in my socks! My kids loved it as well. I think the two videos of sweeping in my socks should be combined as a bourbon bit…
As an electrician, just a little tip about the wiring for anyone who's reading these. Since that's a 15A outlet, you only need 14 AWG Romex. Using 12 AWG isn't wrong, just a little more expensive.
Wait. You have to use the same wire - it has nothing to do with the receptacle. If the original wire is yellow, or !2 AWG, you need to follow that to the next receptacle.
20:10 “Cattywompus” “Dawdle” Thank you for using those words randomly! I haven’t heard them since my grandmother used to use them, and she passed away about 10 years ago now! ♥️♥️♥️
Awesome book that gives you step-by-step photos ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt and directions to make every day project. I can see myself making a few of these projects and giving them as housewarming and holiday gifts!
Hey there. not sure if you will read this. I build and fix tiny houses full time and you start getting mold issues on the bottom side of the matress if you do not have any kind of air flow underneath it. You will need a slatted frame. Even if you put wholes into the multiplex underneath it won´t be enough. Your body extracts around 500ml a night. Greetings from Germany.
pretty sure that's a rule in the US as well, would have been easy enough to leave a small cut out for the box, would have been hidden by the mattress regardless
Agreed. Never hide a junction box. Troubleshooting a (rare but possible) loose connection in the future will be challenging for the next homeowner. Or, just put the link to this video on the outlet plate 😂
As usual, another humorous and well done video. Thanks! Also, I, too, am a foster and adoptive parent. I currently have 10 foster children that are being adopted. My first adopted son, from my first marriage, is 18 and in college. Thank you for your kindness.
Always a joy to learn from Jason... but lets be honest here: There is nothing "easy" about projects like this. They take precision, hard work and experience to make it look as professional as we see on camera. Love your videos!
And then when you're just a hobbyist you rely more on tools... and you can have bad luck with those, since sometimes quality control just have a bad day and you're the lucky one to get a model from that batch 🤦♂ i'm not in that business enough to just go back and exchange the tool until finally they give me a proper one... also, it's not just the saw, it can be the track which is bowed or twisted, or you try the extension with two tracks from different batches - apparently when they cut those to length their mitre saws can also be out of square 🤷♂
Request if you can! A roll out spice rack that fits beside the fridge? We live in a rental and have so many spices, and it would be great to see your take on a roller spice rack that’s slim!
I appreciate that you actually make woodworking videos still. So many UA-camrs have gone full blown “content creators”, aka, they don’t build anything anymore. I watch these videos to learn and be inspired with my woodworking, not to learn the top 10 tools from china I’ll never buy. 😂😂 You’re definitely my favorite to watch and I look forward to your videos every Saturday.
25:06 Jason - Bourbon Moth. Just a suggestion?? Take the top (base) where the mattress goes and split it into two pieces. The front most piece is nailed in place over the drawers but the back section has hinges and a small round hole so you can lift the back up to use that empty space as a 'hide-away' storage area?? Your welcome.
Beautifully done! And refreshing to see a painted surface. So restful. You CAN get a smooth un textured surface if you use oil based enamel. After painting with a roller it smooths itself out. Plus kids are hard pressed to peel it like they can with latex and it’s easily washable and hard as a rock. We raised six and there’s nothing better. It’s just getting hard to find.
Poor Lazarus...never to see the light of day again......😁 I love painting....walls, yes...ceilings, no. I love the color you used! The day bed is beautiful!!! Nice job!!!
Awe your Aussie is the perfect touch to a beautiful nap (sometimes dog) bed! Glad the foreman could help you out and thank you because I hadn’t thought about building the frame where the height essentially is determined by the height of supports nailed to the underneath of the bed seat instead of building an entirely separate frame
Nice work body. If I was making that: probably I'll make only the framework against the wall and save the back plywood but is your job and your own home. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Bourbon, been enjoying your channel. Just a thought, you might want to make a response to the questions regarding the previous video. Obviously up to you but might clear up some things though. Thx.
OK I don't think I can do this project - I D o n t Have A SKELETON !!. Actually my grandfather and I made a Captain's bed for my sister's mobile home that had a really narrow room cool build brings back memories!!! Great having Fun with you!!!

First, happy Easter. I have a lot of disparate interests and while nowhere near being a woodworker, I occasionally make some sawdust though I'm more comfortable turning wrenches. But I never miss one of your videos and always feel better for it. Thank you for what you do. It was especially helpful today.
Looks great! I love it. I worry about mattress mold. Maybe cut out several holes on the plywood platform or make slats instead. Also, hinging the back 1/3 of the platform gives you access to the skeleton. Nice place to hide bedding.
Looks like the dos going to have a nice place to chill. Nice touch with the skeleton. Fits perfectly. I've been tempting mi primer to the close to the color I want instead of painting it wants us together doing a prime and one I'm just the 4 by 8 sheet then cut it up then caulk and paint it when it's finished makes it a lot easier. Good way to get people to your other videos. Would like to see a video on how to get the spacing in the battens evenly
The ending of this video cracked me up. When lu ber prices went to the moon I started cabinet painting to hedge my bets. I do the opposite. I push on the paint and use a dry ish foam roller to smooth it out. To each his own though.
"Easy Peasey Lemon Squeezy" ! heard another UA-camr say that for their first time ever and that reminded me to pop over here since you hadn't said it in a long time.
Cool built. that bevelled trim is new to me. i've not seen that before, thanks for that useful tip, its neat. your choice of color is really, i like that greyish, and sort of green olive color wall. thanks for the video.
MultiTool goodness! If you do a lot of renovation type work or if you change your mind (or make mistakes) as you build because you just can't imagine the project fully beforehand, I HIGHLY recommend getting a oscillating multitool! It doesn't have to be a super fancy Festool cordless version like Jason uses in this video (which looks really nice). I've had a Bosch corded version for 10+ years and it has help me get out of more jams than I can count. Just grab some hearing protection because they can get loud if you use them for a while.
That is an awesome project! But the content is even better! I couldn’t stop laughing at the sanding in socks. The foreman has the same sense of humor as well! Awesome video!
Don't use a solid surface under a mattress where you and I live! Mold loves that. I've built 350 bed frames and every one had slats because of this. I guess it is less of an issue on a bed that won't be used all the time, but it's still not a good idea.
@@davidcurtis5398 Yes, it depends on where one lives, which is why I wrote that. People in deserts don't have to think about it, but here in the pacific northwest, mold is a constant concern. My ex's mattress had mold on it after only six months of being on a solid plywood base.

Measure twice, cut wrong, cut again

Its a good thing he has already had a build inspection

If the circuit runs to the left of the box, he just shortened the line. If not, shouldn’t have covered it up.
