take a small branch off your older Avocado tree and and graft it onto your younger tree and it will produce sooner ...maybe even a few branches...I also found if I bunch up Aluminum foil and then undo it and wrap it around the bottom of a tree or pot or any plant the snails don't like it and won't climb up it

My avocado has grown bigger mthan thumbnail size already and must have self pollinated because it is a volunteer. I will have to wait and see what happens...it is an exciting time .....from N Z.

Also got a beautiful jungle garden. I think the rain has helped this month. Love your videos & getting the opportunity to see a local garden for ideas/tips/comparisons. My garden is tiny though.
Love your little assistant. Hopefully another aspiring gardener

Thanks very much Kim, it sounds like you've got a magical garden and have made great use of your small space. I am hoping to raise a little budding gardener! 💚

Your kiwi berry looks so happy! I planted one a few months ago that took off really well but then the growing tip died and it’s looks super sad. Any tips on how to make them happy like yours?

somebody told me if you spray your avocado with honey water you get a better pollination because bees don't poetically like the flowers i dont know if i believe this ... Anavay i am going to try this this year the other thing, most of your avo coming close to the ground like 1.50 m so if you cut it back you get more fruit the tree grow stronger as well

how do you go about controlling fruit fly ?or do you not get them so much down there? I have a shocking problem with guava and fruit fly. Its been so uncontrollable. I have spent the last seven year trying to control it so the fruit is ok but haven't really been successful.

Avocados don’t self pollinate. There are no ‘self fertile’ varieties. You need A and B because the male and female flowers on the one tree open at different times.

This is a common misconception with avocados. In certain climates i.e. where we are in Melbourne, Hass avocado varieties will open their male and female organs (these are actually located on the same flower) at the same time. Pollen from one tree one tree is compatible with itself and quite capable of pollinating its own flowers. It is beneficial though to have cross-pollination in many climates although not essential for fruit in all cases 💚

@@MelbourneFoodforest You are quite correct the reason being Northern night temps are warmer and tbeir M/F open times dont overlap - i still have A&B but Bacon for example never has many but a friends near Oakleigh gets loaded. My favourites are Reed & Lamb Hass

I got the impression that the Wurtz is another self-pollinating variety. Fruit set assisted by a nearby Type
B but apparently it is not essential.

@@AussieMaskedOwl No Avocado is truly Self Pollinating - but in some cooler areas Iike in Melbourne their M&F parts ARE OPEN so if you have only one Avo insectsike a chequered fly will get a few but i dont get huge crops even though i have A & B alongside each others - its a bit of chance?
