Thanks for this direct comparison of 2 good cc's. Too often speaker reviews focus on the music aspects and leave HT out or typically have a simple "clear vocals" comment on cc's.
The black oak finish on the Ultra series is real wood veneer, but on the Prime it's a vinyl wrap. That's why the piano gloss is an extra charge on the Primes.

Sweet!!!! Thanks from🇱🇷🐉🇱🇷! Im waiting on the delivery guy with an SVS start-up system from Crutchfield. I got the 5.0 SVS PRIME bundle in piano gloss black for around $$1500 with pre-made banana clip wires for all. It comes with SVS PRIME CENTER channel , 2 SVS PRIME BOOKSHELF'S speakers and 2 SVS PRIME Satellite speakers.Originally I had ordered that fog that one originally I had ordered that 5.1 system in Piano gloss white but quickly realized I would be missing out on the good center channel and bookshelves so I'll just get a SVS SUBWOOFER later. Also get the YAMAHA TSR-700 7.2 receiver with EARC. Going TO the LG CX OLED 65 TV. My first cool tv n surround sound ever and I'm approaching 40 lol, I switched hobbies from sport bike riding at the dragon watching Marvel movies lol well i subscribed and if you have any tips for a noob i would gladly listen. Thx
Cool to hear you got into this hobby! The main thing is that you take your time and figure out what you want in your setup and then improve it one step at a time and enjoy the journey

Thanks for the review! Have you tried the Monoprice Monolith THX-365C 3-way at $500 USD? There are very few comparisons between it and the Prime/Ultra.
Also, may want to check audio balance and actually show the grilles up to the camera, though I realize it’s an old video.

What do you mean to remove the metal bridges? Are you talking about the binding post where you put banana plugs?
Jup, i always remove them and replace them with speakerwire. You can actually tune the sound using different materials, silver, coper etc.
Great video, thanks for the advice! I would like to get the SVS center channel soon. In the meantime I will use the ultra bookshelves to listen to my current favorite music artist, Lyriel. Enchanted Moonlight and Paranoid Circus are absolute masterpieces! My 2nd favorite artist now is Leaves' Eyes, especially their song Symphony of the Night!
I have probably thousands of hours of viewership watching speaker evaluations and never heard anybody mention changing out the back metal plates with speaker wire?😞 100% not saying it's not true but one would think by now it would be a topic of debate if it made as much difference as you say it does?🤓 can't imagine all these speaker companies including svs cheating out on such an easy fix to improve sound as radically as you said it does? Great video content by the way!🤗😎😁

Hey man please Little help i have prime towers and i order ultra center you believe they gonns feat all together or i have to take prime center i dont want have problem matching sound what's your opinion
All svs products are made to work with each other, primes with ultra etc. The ultra center is a lot better then the prime. In movies the towers dont make much of a difference but dor music the ultras are better

You think the Ultra is overkill for a bedroom system? lol That thing is a monster, but I want the best. Plus I'd want the closest match for my Ultra bookshelves.
If you got the budget go with the ultra its that simple. It looks better, sounds bigger etc. The prime is good and solid and will work fine with your bookshelfs, svs made them that way. But if you want the best center money can buy then well yea..

The finish is piano gloss so that comes with dust Haha. Piano gloss is always sensitive to scratches but they do offer a normal wood finish. But the gloss does look the most beautiful! I have 3 cats and they don't jump on it. I trained them not to.

How does this center stack up against a B&W HTM71 s2 ?
The finish and grill are better on the svs. In terms of sound it is always a trial and test thing but the price difference is so big and b&w is known for asking a bit more since they can i would go with the svs and i did but if you want a real upgrade go for the htm1 nautilus from b&w. They are secondhand about 1000 to 1200. If you wanna stay under the 1000 i believe that the svs is the best one on the market today
Well I'm in purgatory 🤷♂️ I have the prime center at the moment it has nice crisp detail but it seems to lack some bottom end, and was thinking of getting the ultra but that 2x the price I dunno is it really going to make that much of a difference?
To me it is not worth 2x the price.
The story is different when you can get a discount on the ultra.
I know svs has a second hand store on there site where you can get them a lot cheaper.
The main difference between the 2 in just a lot more volume.
And yes the ultra does have that extra detail and punch.
Do you have a big room? If so then i would go with the ultra
@@stereobeyond2162 yes it's in a large living area with vaulted ceilings not the best for a theater sound, I'm gonna try a def tech cs 9060 I hope it fills the room , if not I'll probably wait it out for an ultra to go on sale, I started out with a $400 dollar budget somehow it made it's way to $800.🤔
@@Defcon666 I hear good things about def tech and was thinking about getting before the svs.
Again, def tech is nice but there is a reason svs speakers get a lot of love.
I also got their prime stats and they blew me out of the water, they are amazing speakers.
My main problem with def tech is their driver size, you have a large room and bigger drivers means more volume.
The svs has that plus it also is a 3 way design.
I don't know what the price differance is atm but I would guess they are about the same, I would go with the svs 100% because of the looks, the driver size, and the fact that it is a 3 way.
@@stereobeyond2162 it was painful sending back the prime today but it just wasn't getting it done , I got a pretty good deal on the def tech and gonna give it a try if doesn't perform then a new SVS Piano Ultra will have a new home .

Emotiva makes two 3 way center channels for under $400 and they are both excellent
lol nope the c2+ is terrible design and while the c1 is a bit better than the C2, is still not even close to the Ultra
NHT C LCR is a 3 way center channel and you can find it under $400 on Amazon.
Lol way cheaper but nowhere near as good as the ultra
Don't forget if you buy the SVS ultra center channel speaker then you'll need to buy SVS ultra front left and right speakers to timbre match the front stage.
Timber Matching is overrated. As long as you have speakers who have a similar sound you should be okay.
SVS claims that their Prime speakers are voiced to match the Ultra speakers, and their customers can and do mix products between the two lines all the time to build out the particular system they prefer. I've never heard people complain about mismatches in tonality between the two when they are mixed, so I would go with that.

Mixing brands for the front 3 will "work" but timbre matching your front 3 will sound best.
