I like how a Home Theater store doing vids about sound systems has some of the worst audio on youtube.
Exactly. This should be watched MOS with the close caption engaged, courtesy of YT. That way, it is actually pretty decent of a clip.
Maybe they want us to buy the center channel speaker they advertising so we can hear them better
@@demonreturns4336 yes. On 2-channel UA-cam. 🤣
I've owned a SVS Ultra center for a while now. Just acquired an older Paradigm CC-390 which is an enormous three-way center that makes my Ultra look absolutely tiny! Wow, the difference is astronomical, the Paradigm is so clear, detailed and dynamic. The Ultra is amazing but this CC-390 is next level. I wish SVS made something similar.
2 way and 3 do make a big difference. I went into a Best Buy Magnolia center and heard the difference. It depends on your 👂🏼 hearing preference.
I’ve always had a 2 way Polk Audio center and didn’t know what I was missing. So I’m now an SVS Prime center channel guy with dual PB-1000 Pros and Polk OWM F/R for now till I upgraded them to SVS Elevations. Everybody has different styles and budgets💰 that’s why there is so many speaker out there for everyone. 🔊👍🏼🙏🏼✌🏼
I have klipsch 2 way mounted below my tv, then came across a great deal on another one, bought it and hooked it to the other center and mounted it above the tv. Sounds pretty dang good set up like that. It’s very loud and clear..
I cant imagine how good that center channel is
Good content, should have had a mic on him tho! Loved it still
I am all exited to meet SVS president Gary Yacoubian and finally hear the SVS at the event near me in a few month.
I think I've found a channel about Home Audio that I really like. You guys do a fantastic job. Listen, many UA-camrs never respond to questions but I have 1 or 2. I'll wait for a for a go ahead so I don't waste my time. Thanks
Larry! Great to see you on Dream Media buddy!
High and Mid is directional and needs to be pointed towards listening position, only low frequency is non-directional coz you feel the bass more than you hear it. 3:36 Saying that your 3 way centre channel doesn't require you to be centred towards listening position is hard to believe.
Ya sorry, a two way will not send sound in a “beam”. Pretty shady sales tactic to claim that.
have you tried it or is this a reaction comment?
Dreamedia Home Theater yes I have tried a two way before. It does not send sound in a beam. Have YOU tried it or was that a reaction comment?
Whats your deal buddy? Yes We demo multiple setups in many spaces.
Dreamedia Home Theater what’s my deal? Do I have a “deal” because I called out the shady sales tactics or because I repeated what you said? Clearly this channel is just hidden advertising being passed off as “content”. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if this isn’t even FTC compliant.
1:35” if you listen to 2 way center you notice they become beamy”
1:45 “ what happens is it creates this one ray”
2:50 “by offering you this 3way center you get everything the director intended you to”
@@i_read_bad_reviews
All you need to know is that a 3way center speaker is better than a 2way center speaker. If you did your research you would know that.
Guys guys guys, Lav microphones. Absolutely love the energy.
Hi guys question on a center speaker, which would you choose the svs ultra or the Flora Chora thanks very much
What’s up guys!! Hey quick question. I have pretty small living room. Maybe 12-12-10 high. I love the ultras bookshelf’s. . But. Should I go with the primes for my size room. I guess what I’m asking is for the ultras be overkill for that room? Peace brothers
Seems like there should be a prime pinnacle center. Which one are most people pairing with the Pinnacles?
I have my tv above the fireplace. The in ceiling center isn’t working real well. Do you know whether there is a shelf to attach to a ceiling above the tv so it could be installed there and angled down toward seating area. Would that design cause instability and make other sound complications. I have two Polk RC 80i ceiling speakers for the front two.
Anything is possible
If you don’t need the form factor and height clearance of the ultra center channel, can you just use an ultra bookshelf as the center channel? My speakers will be going behind a screen so I won’t see them anyway.
I know there wasn't any reply but the best hometheater setups uses tower speakers for center channel centers were made because alot of people don't want the TV mounted too high for example the very best setup let's say a 5.2 would consist of all of the exact same speaker would sound the best I use 5 towers in my set up all the exact same if money is no object thats how you get the very best sound by far if not try to match speaker in all the same line up yes a tower is over Kill for rears but why not if I have the ability to have the best sound as possible you don't need 2 5k towers won't sound ad good at 5 towers that cost 1k taking about svs ultras by the say in how theater but for just music the 2 5k towers will sound better talking about kef towers
From a practical standpoint (ie not audiophile), are there really any clarity differences between the Prime & Ultra centers ? I heard the comment from the SVS rep, "big room, small room".
Ultra costs about $300 more, for that you get 3x the audio quality. Totally different drivers and materials (save for the HF tweeter). It's well worth it. The only thing Polk Audio now has in a 3-way Legend L400 and costs $2,000, and uses the same exact size drivers as the SVS Sound Ultra does. Just saying.... easy math.
What kinda math equations and formula are using to come up with the 3x audio quality
@@demonreturns4336 I switched my Elac Debut 2.0 center (5.2 version) for a SVS Ultra center and found that it improved the off-axis dialogue by quite a bit but the on-axis might have improved only slightly. So the difference between the Ultra center & the Prime center is only marginal at best but I don't claim to be a detailed listener. Frank may have better ears than I do.
Would that center mess up your LR if they were weaker?
How does the svs ultra center work with a single receiver, does it require additional power??
Designing 3 way is more difficult than 2 ways. 2 way or 3 way it's a matter of good design.
Question,
I am sure its ok to use the ULTRA center with Klipsch RP280F floor standing. but do they sound ok together in terms of flavor? compliment each other??
i would. I wouldnt do the opposite though. klipsch center and svs towers. The center is most critical so to have the L/R Blend its easier with the satisfying neutral tone of the svs center.
@@Dreamediaav hey buddy i have prime towers and i order ultra center channel you believe they gonna feet sound all together or i have to change it to prime center? Please Little help
@@kuriakos36 I heard they blend well. How did it work out for you?
@@sponger04 amazing buddy butt if you can take something better remember center and subwoofer must be very expensive to home theatre and always 2 subs and more i have now monolith 15 and im going to take another one until i have 4 to make flat curve😊😁
I have Klipsch RP 6000f as my floor standing speakers, please suggest center channel speaker for these to, Klipsch are difficult to find
thx Larry for the info. i'll keep that in mind 300 bucks! cheap for a good center! 👍👍👍😎
what about spreading out the range, using the front speakers to fill out the sound?
I've got as 4.1 Quadraphonic music listening room with 4 identical 3-way center channels. I am crossing over from the sub to the 4 mains speakers at 120 Hertz. Wouldn't even dream about using towers, bookshelves, etc.
@@frankfarago2825 very unique setup.
The klipsch rc64 as well as a other klipsch centers are not truelly 2 way and are more 3 way than you think. To say svs is the only 3 way center is disingenuous! Another point is the svs mid range driver is extremely small. Midrange is kinda a big deal when trying to get a true representation of the speech in movies and lyrics. Klipsch uses midrange the same size as the bass drivers. I've listened to both klipsch and svs and klipsch clearly gives a better midrange resolution.
Retired at 49 just to add to that, I didn’t think being a 2 way or a 3 way had any impact on a speakers dispersion characteristics either....il have to look into this. Doesn’t make sense.
Duane Bennett that’s exactly what I said. He was saying 2 way sends audo in a beam like all of a sudden 99.9% of centers are now not as good.
yes sir I know right!👍🏻. Weird statement to make that.
Thats not what he said you guys are putting more emphasis on something that isnt.
Dreamedia Home Theater or maybe you just have a professional biased toward your colleague....
1:35” if you listen to 2 way center you notice they become beamy”
1:45 “ what happens is it creates this one ray”
2:50 “by offering you this 3way center you get everything the director intended you to”
I thinking of buying a pair of SVS Prime Pinnacle for Front left and front right with a pair of SB 1000, would I be OK with the Prime Center instead of the Ultra center?
Can you please advise?
the prime will be fine. i prefer the ultra center. it has all the detail and dynamics you want
Okay, so now before you discuss AUDIO gear -- how about getting some decent mics and a sound person? One guy is screeching, the other one is so hard to even hear. For now, I am watching this clip with the volume turned down and with close captions turned on. My ears are thanking me already. Try it, you'll prefer it that way too, I'm sure.
Does it go with my prime pennicle main speakers
Can I use a Ultra Centre with prime bookshelfs ? Anyone having the experience? This is for a 5.1.2 setup....
Can you do a vs Klipsch 504 or their top center vs SVS Ultra Center? Since the Center is the main speaker for movies and TV.
The Ultra is way better. I have tested them.
@@shaolin95 thx. You know I like the highs on the klipsch. Is there a frequency that I can boast to match it. I boast now at 2k by about 1.5 and it is pretty good. Just want to know if I can do more or do I already have the better.
@@dempseylewis4143 I tested the 504c side by side and didn't feel the svs was missing in detail but could also be a hearing thing. It would be hard to tell based on your own hearing and room it could differ. I wish I could tell you which one. All I can tell you is the SVS is much better at disappearing and projecting the sound away from the enclosure. That is provided you don't have it inside a cabinet.
Guys Little help i have prime towers and i order ultra center you believe its gonna much with prime towers or i have to change it also the sound of ultra is cinematic ? Because i dont want to be very crispy like i want to be smooth please little help thank you!!!
3x Ultra Centers for fronts and center. What do you guys think?
yeah, solid idea. I have seen people do it before
Ironically You make a video talking about how important center channel is due to vocal clarity but yet it’s hard to hear you in this video 😑
perfect.
I dont follow why 3 way would throw the sound wider. Can you explain the reason behind that?
you have a more precise crossover network allowing the individual speakers to perform better
You have ONE driver as mid instead of dual mid drivers which cause lobing issues due to the frequencies it is pushing and the spacing between those aligned drivers.
The question is do you still have your crossover set at 80hz? Your sub will do the rest. Why bother with buying this? I have SVS subs and Klipsch speakers.
imagine why you bought svs subs over the competition, then use that same reasoning for the speakers. They give great performance and value. You always get more for what you pay for svs. Listen to them in person before you make up your mind
Anyone using a Prime Pinnacle as a center channel?
Why don't you guys make soundbars.
What is better a center Channel speaker or tower speaker for center channel?
Victor Pulos either can have benefits. People will use a tower identical to their main left and right so that the sound is consistent across the whole front sound stage. The sound stays the same from one speaker to the next this way.
if a tower fits below your screen, it would be an ideal speaker.
Commish absolutely, or an acoustic screen in front of them can work too.👍🏻
It is the tower. Unfortunately, most people don’t have the space so they go for the norm. Like me.
P F you can buy speakers that utilise a left centre and a right centre for example like mine. There not massive bookshelf’s or towers. There in between , but identical.
I seen some of my friends use a Tower speaker for a center channel
It’s actually the correct and better way to do it. Most people, like myself opt for the norm because space is limited. It is the way it’s done in commercial cinemas. In case you didn’t know.
@@pf5658 I use center channels for ALL speakers in room, and nothing but. Towers are bad and rip-off priced. Even bookshelves are better. Commercial cinemas are sort of dead, all the new ones use the MicroLED video walls with no speakers behind the solid video wall, obviously. You are promoting yesteryear's setups for the 2020s.
@@frankfarago2825 - Whatever. Still the best way IMO. You heave the right to your opinion as do I.
I felt bad for the SVS guy
how stupid, sorry for the word, does someone have to be to rudely walk across the camera as the gentleman is speaking. Not once but twice :(
we film very organically. The person that walked across the frame is the owner and responds to you guys ordering and managing his teams across the country to make sure jobs are completed properly.
@@Dreamediaav i know who he is, and his work is great, but walking across the screen is disrespectful to the SVS rep.
Alrighty, i'll appologize to Larry next time we see each other
A on screen hug is good
…..
Dispersion has nothing to do with 2 way v.s. 3 way design. If anything, an improperly-designed 3 way will have poor combing characteristics and inconsistent off-axis response. Check out Erin’s audio corner for some actual data v.s. angle (horizontal and vertical)
Not exactly. While a bad 3 way can be just as bad, a 2 way is always bad pretty much
The only thing the SVS ULTRA CENTER has going for it's looks. It leans toward the Harley in us but when it comes to sound quality it is very disappointing. If you think this sounds good. Get off your ass and go to a sound room somewhere and compare it to cheaper better sounding center speakers. I am so disappointed with the lack of impressive sound. I replace a Polk Audio CS1 SERIES II center and no audible difference to speak of. The clarity is simply not there. My Def Tec D11's blow it away. My Fluance sig series sound better. The hype is all bull. The looks are all it has.
You must be trolling or deaf.
