You should add some native creek fish like white suckers or northern hognose suckers into the new pond, especially the waterfall areas. They would help remove parasites and pests from the rocks and water and also are good forage for the trout and bass. They also make MASSIVE schools with other minnow species too!!

    • @Dissame6730
      @Dissame6730 Рік тому

Agreed, trout need fast, cold water and the big pond is gonna end up getting way too hot during the summer. Cedar falls will be better since there's a cave and moving water, but it'll still be pretty hot. If you want a good trout habitat, base it off of areas like the south toe river in NC. Lots of big overhanging boulders, fast and cold water with lots of shade from rhododendron trees. Could even put some smallmouth, rock bass, and suckers to mimic the south toe and french broad river.

About 15-20 years ago, I visited my grandma. Her neighbor was retired and hand-dug very interconnected small trout ponds that were stocked with rainbows. The water was completely muddy (10 on a scale of 1-10) while I was there, but the trout - with regular feeding and aeration - thrived! I thought it was the coolest thing ever. She lived in Central Washington. If I were in your shoes, I would stock something rare like Murray Perch from Australia in addition to the trout and smallmouth. Also, I would be concerned with otters and the like...

    Trout 1: Caddis
    Trout 2: Midge
Common words found in names of fly fishing flies. For example Elk Hair Caddis & Red Midge.

For the two bass, I really like the names Hall and Oates. Has a good ring to it. Now for the trout, I like Ali like Muhammad Ali and then Speckles.

You should get some rainbow shiners for the smaller pond. Native to Alabama but crazy beautiful

Tip for trout fishing: the trout prefer cold water so cast in deeper sections of the pond

The pond is looking good. I'd suggest Thelma and Louis for one of the couples. As far as future fish varieties, I like the idea of adding two of each. How about adding two crappie? With the clear water, their black and sliver bodies would add to the variety.

Dude, a Bamabass waterpark with a couple of different ponds with different themes of fish for fishing, as well as a swimming pool and lazy river setup all made to look like natural waterways.
I can almost see it tbh. The whole thing, entrance fee, seafood restaurant, gift shop. Could even get aquascape to help out to make it look truly incredible.
I typed this in response to another comment about in a few years he'll have a bunch more ponds and a waterpark. I liked the idea and decided to make it a min comment.

Love your channel and everything you're doing!
I think it would be an interesting project for you to develop a few acres of native wildflower and grasses habitat. It would definitely add to the biodiversity in plants, animals, insects and birds you are looking for.
    Keep up the amazing work!

You should introduce some aquatic insects for the trout like may fly, caddis or stone flies. If you get a smallie, definitely some helgramites.

I have to get you up here to the mountains of WV to catch some native brook trout, rainbows, the WV Golden Rainbow Trout (the true golden trout), maybe even a Tiger trout!

I love this channel and have watched every video more or less. The little pond build appears to be "umping the shark". I enjoy this channel and will keep watching despite this add-on to the main pond.
