Unfortunately, the film encountered so many dissent and severe personal attacks. I looked at the historical data of several major actors and found that they are a philanthropist and have helped many poor people, orphans and students. Disney can postpone the launch date, in reality, viewers will accept it because the virus crisis has not yet been resolved.

“I am blessed with two daughters” hits sooo different because back then if you didn’t have a son you would be ridculed sometimes because women were seen only to be there for being a wife
and sometimes fathers wouldn’t always claim how many daughters they had, especially if they did not have any sons. He loving claimed his daughters though, this movie will make me cry:,)

In the original legend, Mulan has a little brother, but he's only around 12 years old at oldest, much too young to join that army. So she ends up protecting both her father and her brother.

This is beautiful. Thanks for posting. I have a lot of emotional feelings about Mulan, but it's because I was born physically female, and trying to be a good child to my parents was important to me. It's really cool hearing something from the other side, and remembering that I am a blessing to my parents, even when I don't feel like it.
Benjamyn D'Arc I appreciate your insight. Whenever i watched the animated version with my oldest daughter I would sometimes get teary eyed (yes, me) in the father daughter scenes... At first All Mulan wanted was to bring her family “honor” and the father had his own beliefs due to his upbringing as being the “man” of the family. Mulan at the same time was struggling to be a good daughter but herself at the same time. In the end however, all Mulan and her father really needed was the love of each other. I pray that when my daughters get old enough to find their true selves that they see me as someone who is so damn proud of them always - not just right after almost losing them in a war (that can be considered a metaphor).
You are a blessing to your parents! Just remember that in the end, all you and your parents need is each other’s love. You can still be yourself and an honorable son at the same time. Love conquers all, especially the love of parents and children (both ways). Peace and blessings to you!

Im GLAD there wont be any singing. It would destroy the freshness of this LA. Disney LAs are generally HORRIBLE. Just nostalgia, nothing new or interesting, and sadness at not holding a candle to the originals. This might actually be a REALLY GOOD disney LA, because they aren't making it a live action musical of the animated musical. It isnt cut and paste, it's DIFFERENT.

I really loved the disney classics (the animation and soundtracks are works of art; plus, I'm a nostalgic man...), but since this one is practically "another version" of the legend (very few-to-non-referencing the Disney animated movie) I think I'll give it a chance...

@@TheRealSlimShady509 give it a chance ok? the animated version is always there for mushu. This movie is more serious, and more accurate ( not to much accuracy for aesthetic purpose as if costumes etc) but it is still trying to pay homage to the original poem and respectful to the culture

Yhep... See I like the animated one, the story, the part where Mulan climbed the pole to retrieve the arrow, Mushu, the avalanche etc... It was already epic for me. I'd be lying if I say I'm not disappointed with some changes in the movie but I am willing to give this movie a chance. Like I know they changed it big time, and that it's a tad different from the animated version. This is a more serious version I think.

I see some Asian "style" action scenes and I am all IN. I do not care if is not like the disney animated movie, this movie will bring some fresh air to live action movies for Disney, because they are trying to emulate the asian cinematography, which is BEAUTIFUL and very understimated, sometimes.
That's what I felt when i watched the live action aladdin. I think the original was an insult to Arabic culture. But the 2019 movie was more believable and entertaining
This movie they went by the style of Chinese martial art fantasy genera. (Originally it was suppose to save money on action drama, due to outside the military and police force there are very few elite martial art experts, especially consider most civilians won't ever have a chance to be in a real fight, using Special effect to replace actual martial art, but instead it led to a genera in its own right) The actress Liu Yi Fei is famous in this genera and been playing characters in this genera since she was 15, she was most famous playing "Dragon girl" in the 2006 Return of the Condor Hero ua-cam.com/video/M8BaCA6Luxc/v-deo.html

Jaime Lannister still a little insulting that they didn’t emulate arab culture and rather mixed it with bollywood and other. so the film even more dissappointing in that sense: they just explained that it was a multi cultural city port hence the different influences, so that’s a positive: but they should’ve have done the live action as a true arab town as first intended not just ‘orientalist’ (hence the mixing up of cultures) like the original or ‘multicultural’ port

I thought she fumbled a bit putting sword back in the sheathe though.
Everyone keeps saying "in the original story" the original story was a short poem about a girl that most likely never even existed.
Blobbert Mcblob the original poem was basic to the age. At that time (Mulan’s time) and culture (be warlike), even girl could do some fight skills is reasonable.
Donnie Yen elevates EVERY action scene he's involved in, no matter how short the take... He is such an amazing martial artist!!

That's being a little too rough on the other remakes. I mean, nothing can't beat the original... Except for "101 Dalmatians" of 1996. But even some of the remakes were not that bad. I for one loved "Beauty and the Beast". Emma Watson was perfect for the role of Belle and the dance scene was marvelous.

I know right? I thought the hair cut scene was epic but I also read somewhere that they changed it because cutting hair has a special meaning in Asia (Specifically China? I'm not sure) and it wouldn't be appropriate for the situation. I might be wrong because I'm definitely not an expert on Asian culture but I think cutting hair was something of an act of shame or along those lines.
@@VenhedisKaffas If I've done my research correctly, the time period this is set in, in Han China, women only cut their hair in mourning, as a sign of filial or matrimonial piety. For a woman to cut it otherwise was sacrilegious, and considered a sign that she was daring the gods to kill her family.
This did go for men of the time as well, depending on what station they held.

I love EVERYTHING about this clip. Liu Yefei is doing a great job, the costumes are gloriously-ornate and authentic, and the romantic tension is HEAVY.
I am so excited to see this full movie in theaters soon! This scene was already a badass scene.

I'm going to admit that I do not understand the shot for shot live action remakes. (I *really* don't understand the Lion King remake because weren't they animated lions, just a different way?) What is the great appeal of the exact same movie, just live action?
But I understood the Cinderella remake because it was very different to the animated version. And this one is giving us the real legend behind the cartoon. (Don't get me wrong, I adored the animated one. Who doesn't like all these tough soldiers singing "I'll Make a Man Out of You?" But this adds more depth to that version.) I'd like to see them do this with other stories. I'd like to see the live action of the actual Snow Queen where Elsa isn't the hero. I'd like to see the live action Little Mermaid where she has to make the choice to kill Eric or die. No, these are not for 4-year olds, but they add more depth to those stories that are.

Exactly! Haven't we see how Maleficent and Cinderella doing way better for not being musicals and had some major story changes, although the biggest difference in Cinderella is that she spends more time with the Prince and met him before the ball. But Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Aladdin were the same exact stories with music actually did way worse. So I don't get why people complain that Mulan is not exactly the same when we know we're gonna complain about it more if it is the same. That brought me memories when Arya was dressed us as a boy in Season 1 and 2.
It is happened because cultures that make women forbidden to go war. They must stay in home, take care family while all men go to war. That is the reason, Chinese women work all out in field and home, almost tough like their men. But i think, in others places and countries like that also. Except today women who just fight for marriage status, ATM and Beauty contest. Even i also believe some of tough women still existed, just didn't exposed.
The novelizations was SO GOOD! Yes, it's different from the animation but the story is really well-written. Mulan is no Mary-Sue, old and new characters are handled well, the obvious feminism (I mean, come on, it's Mulan and it has always been feminist) is not exaggerated and does not reduce the men of the story. The actions-sequences, based on the way they are written on page will be EPIC. This will probably be one of the best movies Disney has released in a while...
