Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan And Jet Li Cant Nobody Ever Take They Place
Donnie yen a beast but jet is the goat imo
@21stcenturyenigma you got to be young
Donnie Yen has achieved more than all.
Don't forget stephen chow😂
@21stcenturyenigma he is better than chan but not bruce lee that dude created the path for them
I started to choke up when Jet started talking about Aaliyah. Romeo Must Die does not get enough credit on how much of an impact it has made in representation in film.
Fuck even the representation part... There was about a year where this was THE action movie.. You where either watching the matrix or romeo must die.. It was a great movie in every sense of the word.. As a white man I never even noticed that there is not many white people in it.. It's just good on its own... and THAT'S how you do proper representation.. Don't add minorities just to do it if there are better people for the job.. But if they are naturally the best choice then nobody will care what color, gender, sexuality the characters are... The work itself needs to be good and stand on its own, don't use we have a diverse cast as a reason to why your movie is better than others when the movie really suck.. If it sucks it sucks regardless of an all white male cast or a diverse one
@Loveme Hateme First of all, NIMROD, he just answered your question on what representation in film it made, so try to pay attention. Second of all, there was an interview with Jet Li where he debunked all of the bullshyyit speculation race baiters and shit starters like you have as to why they didn't kiss. The production just felt that because Jet Li's character just witnessed the death of his brother, it would be inappropriate for him to kiss afterwards so they removed the kiss scene that they had already filmed. Troll Morons need to really fact check before they try to "speak facts" lol.
@Loveme Hateme Lesson: If you're going to TROLL, at least do it with some kind of intelligence and finesse. :D
@@michaelknight5295 True. A kiss is so unnecessary seeing how their relationship played out throughout the movie. They weren't trying to be a couple, they became friends in the pursuit of investigating what happened to their family members. I wish she was still here. 😪
Yo enough with the representation nonsense.
I love how no one is forgetting Aaliyah & her legacy!
Ikr!
You couldn't help but love her
She’s unforgettable
@Neph ilim facts
They sacrificed her and still sample her so how was she forgotten?

Jet and Aaliyah had great chemistry in Romeo Must Die...such a tragic loss.
They really bounced off each other. It's such a sad loss indeed. Love you Aliyah ❤

Yess one of my fav movies
Imagine if it was Bruce
It very suprised back then the black and asian couple...... But I love it...... I was 15back then😍
You can tell that Jet Li still gets emotional when speaking about Aaliyah. 😢
Exactly he misses her so much 😔💔🥺 they was amazing together
They're both really close, marks now 20 years Romeo Must Die should be one of the best Jet Li movies made in the U.S.
Victor Laguna not really..he wasn’t that upset
Yes I saw it too when he spoke it about it. He still was kinda hurt by that too ..
Well in one of Aaliyah interview she said Jet Li was cute and they bond on movie Romeo must die!
"don't live in your mother father shadow. you need to be you"
great advice Jet Li sir
When he said that, it brought me to tears.
Jet Li always has a friendly vibe to him. He seems like such a nice, humble and wholesome guy, just like Chow Yun-fat.
His English got better I'm glad to see him healthy.
What was he sick with?

I just finished watching Romeo Must Die for like the 50th time and the last scene in the end when Aaliyah asks Jet Li "Are you ok?" Then hugs him tight almost brought me to tears because it's the last scene and I know she is not with us anymore.
I used to watch Romeo Must Die 10 times a day when I was a kid. Helped me get over my parents divorce 😂
That’s deep.
It's cool he talked about aaliyah cuz i never seen a interview talking about her. Love them together
I'm so glad he was open to talk about her. Thank you for watching :)
I heard it was very devastating for him. He spoke of her in print and magazines...but it was nice to hear him talk about her. He said she was like a baby sister.
He did talk about her b4
I’m sure he had a thing for her 💔
Patrick Holmes granted everyone did. Aaliyah was such a kind person.
I'm just glad he's healthy and got his hair back again. Hopefully we'll see him in more movies too. RIP Aaliyah!!!
Could be fake. But happy to see him healthy.
@@ThiHaGadgets his hair looks real to me
@@michaelharris2500 Sure. That's better for him. Haha.
Thi Ha I don’t think Jet Li would wear fake hair for an interview...
I swear the last time I saw a recent photo of jet his hair was graying. Whether or not he dyed it doesn't take away my respect for him. I've heard that he suffers from Parkinson's but he doesn't seem to be having any trouble speaking or exhibiting unnatural body movements
4:30 He talks about baby girl Aaliyah ( for those of you who just want to hear what he says about her )
Thank you
yea, I just rewatched the movie the other day. Man, Aaliyah was a huge loss to all of us. She was so wonderful.
Amen to Master Jet Li. I’m 32 and I’m mixed half African Cuba half Honduran. Jet Li you really built a bridge amongst the black community/Asian community. You and Master Jackie Chan are legendary
Oh man, the feels when hearing the discussion about Aaliyah. I think he misses her alot, just as I along with the rest of us do. One of the best duos in film ever. Sleep well, Aaliyah.
I love your comment. RESPECT.
of course, you think anyone else wouldn't know what was going behind those closed doors with that blech! son of a bitch and the fact her own parent say that they regretted and miss their daughter pisses me off, they sold her to him

They became really good friends after filming of Romeo Must Die wrapped up. He even said that it was hard for him to see all the old places in Vancouver where they filmed RMD because of his memories of her when he went back there to film the 2007 movie "War" with Jason Statham.
When You Mentioned Aaliyah It Looked Like It Caught Him Off Guard. Took Him Back To A Place He Never Talked About Publicly
YEAH. Noticed the same, I think it may still be a little difficult for him to go down memory lane about her because I think they became close friends during filming.
@@7roninatthegate He said after her death that he would never forget about her. He was very sad over her dying so
young. He made another action movie with DMX after her death in Canada and that where Romeo Must Die was
filmed as well and that place made him remember her very much.
He once said in an interview that he got very depressed for a few months after she died because she was so nice and liked by everyone on set.
@Amna S Aaliyah was not after Jet she was just a very sweet girl who was nice to everyone. She was dating Damian Dash at the time. Jet was feeling bad because he liked her and respected her as an actress and he felt bad for her losing her life at such a young age, because her career was just heating up.
@Amna S All right then.

I was exposed to Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan first, but when I saw Jet Li for the first time in Romeo must die as a kid with my favorite singer Aaliyah, I was amazed at his fighting style, especially in Cradle to the Grave. He was so nonchalant, didn't overreact, anytime somebody tried to fight him, most of them were no match for him, he blocked every one of their punches and kicks. So glad to see him be a part of this movie, loved Mulan as a kid as well. Besides Pochahontas, who risked her life to speak out for her people, Mulan was the only female princess who risked her life by going to war in her dad's place and showed that women don't have to be limited to so called "stay in their place".
Ariana George His first movie in the US was Lethal Weapon 4. That’s how I learned about him. He shocked me! Amazing skills! You should check it out.

I’m so glad that I lived in the time with all the of the great legends in martial arts. From Bruce Lee to Jet Li. May their legacy live on forever. 💜
Sade, thanks for this interview, I liked your questions. And also, thanks for bringing up the beautiful Aaliyah, she was so charismatic and had a great voice. I had a fond memory of Romeo Must Die, because it was the first time I saw Jet Li on the big screen. Everyone else in the theater was black (probably to see the angelic Aaliyah), and I couldn't believe the warm (and very vocal) reception they gave to an Asian action star.
As for Jet Li, I think he deserves a lot of respect as a human being. In terms of contribution to action cinema, there are many great choreographers, directors, and film stars in the spotlight -- actually, Jet Li is just one of many. Objectively speaking, the genre has a lot of huge contributors. However, in terms of personal character, Jet Li really stands out for his humility, his faithfulness to his family, his charity work, and his overall character.
Li went through some hard times growing up and had a very bitter and rough start in his early film career. But like he describes about Mulan, Jet Li stayed true to himself, even after he became a huge star. He turned down the lead role of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon because he promised to be there for his wife -- choosing his family over a huge career role. He is well-known to be a hard worker, and although he is not Mahershala Ali or Al Pacino or Tony Leung when it comes to sheer acting talent, he worked tireless on his craft and did a reasonably good job in both dramatic and comedic roles. He founded the charity organization One Foundation (for disaster relief) in 2007, when no rich people in China took charity seriously. When speaking of his physical skills, he is always very candid that his training is purely for the camera, and that he would lose in any fight against a professional fighter (ie, he does not try to propagate the myth of Chinese kung-fu). And unlike many of his action movie peers, there are no "Me Too" type stories circulating around about Jet Li, or him raining down unreasonable abuse upon other people just because he can.
One of my favorite Jet Li films of all time is Ocean Heaven, which has no action sequences. This is a story about a terminally ill father (Jet Li's character) trying to prepare his 21-year old autistic son for life on his own. Li did the role for free, and in addition turning in a very touching dramatic performance, his name helped boost the careers of first-time director Xue Xiaolu (an accomplished scriptwriter who went on to direct the critically acclaimed "Finding Mr. Right"; she also wrote the script for Ocean Heaven based partially on her experiences as a volunteer for autistic children) and actor Wen Zhang. To me, this film demonstrates some of the best things about Li's real-life personality -- his generosity, his sincerity, his hard work and willingness to try something outside of his usual range by doing a pure drama film, and his genuine desire to contribute to the world.
jet lis acting talent is very underrated
You're welcome. So glad you enjoyed it :)
That is all awesome, but you shouldn't have been so surprised that the African American community embraced Jet Lit. The black community had long had a love for martial arts and Bruce Lee. Also, of course, Rush Hour was a big hit before Jet Li even appeared in Lethal Weapon 4.
@@biglliam lethal weapon 4 came out before rush hour.
@@mortezarostami7587 Oh yeah, you're right. It did. Rush Hour came out before Romeo Must Die where Jet Li gets to play the hero though, and Rush Hour was such a big hit, it seems Romeo Must Die copied it's Kung Fu meets Hip Hop formula.
I miss JetLi movies, excited to see this movie!

I always loved Jet Li
As an Asian man, one of the best times I ever had was watching Romeo Must Die in an urban theater in Washington DC one weekend when it first came out. At the time, I did not know that black people liked to talk during movies. Let me just say that sometimes, stereotypes are true. LOL! It was an awesome time and I never laughed so much. The brothers were talking mad shit all throughout the movie especially when Jet clowned the black guys during the football game. But they also cheered like crazy when Jet beat Russell Wong at the end. And let me say, Aallyah was so beautiful. If she hadn't died, she would have been one of the biggest pop queens of the 00's and 10's. RIP
