I was able to find a 2005 Toyota Tundra Double Cab 4wd with 180k miles for 8k$ here in SoCal. It is salvaged title due to theft but has no frame damage or body damage. I did put another 5k in maintenance and upgrades, but I’m happy with the reliability and utility of the truck.
Jeep Dodge RAM has been in my blood since birth it seems. My first “car” was a well used 1981 JEEP Scrambler. i still have it. In the Grand Cherokee ZJ is my all around favorite SUV. I still have mine from 1996. ( They are calling a ZJ a WJ in the video😖) Mine has a 318 (one of the toughest v8s ever created) it has whiplash cam 2” lift Dick Cepek wheels & Cooper tires. Otherwise it’s basically all original. It’s the most reliable vehicle i have ever seen in my life. it can sit months & starts right up like u drove it yesterday. I loved the WJ best (as far as looks) but the one i had was a constant issue of leaks and electrical issues. A 2door XJ Cherokee is one of my all time favorites. TJs (especially “LJs” < TJ Unlimited) & JKs (2012 up & only if 5.7 hemi swapped & 2 doors) . I have 1 of each😂😖. Im not rich or anything (at all). i just don’t have any other “ hobbies except camping &my jeeps). I don’t trade them off when i get a new one, so these are all my old dailies from the past… ( well some i did trade in… the WJ (NOT THE JEEP THEY ARE CALLING WJ IN THIS VIDEO THATS A ZJ) I replaced the immaculate WJ with a WK2 2020 5.7 Grand Cherokee TrailHawk). It’s my current travel vehicle (when i don’t need m truck). My black lab pup thinks it’s the best because of the heated & cooled seats…😂😂😖 All can be found at reasonable prices… but many Jeeps are salt belt rust buckets & have been so mistreated. Many have so many weird mods i just pass them by. i love to rebuild good ones & sell them but everything is crazy expensive now? I’m just sorta waiting things out buying only super good deals through mostly auctions every now & then. Jeeps can be a pain just like anything else… There are many great old rides out there… (many besides a Jeep that can easily become great throw back vehicles). Jeep just somehow become my favorite & it has never changed (probably never will).
Wow, that's a nice Jeep collection! I'm a huge fan of the older models too, especially the ZJ. It's great to hear about your experiences with modifications and off-road adventures. We're curious, have you ever considered modifying your Jeeps? It would be nice to see what you could come up with, and we'd love to feature that on Trailing Offroad!
Gx470 for the win, it is easily the most modern design on the list. I absolutely love mine because it has more features than a lot of brand new cars over 30k, and wayyyyy more than other cars on the list. It even comes with a standard 12v wall outlet in the back for all your camping needs. Heated seats, auto climate control, leather literally everywhere with suede headliner, and a glossy wood wheel that looks good forever damn near. Everyone that gets in my Lexus always says it’s a really nice car and they expected it to be closer to a 2015 model year than a 2006 with 200,000 miles lol.
Just bought a 5-Speed 2nd Gen 4Runner for $6K, with 227,XXX miles on the odometer. It was near mint, except for the few faded paint spots. In ran fine, but then it needed its water pump changed. While I was in there, I replaced the timing belt. All of this done at the mechanic because I didn’t have time. So, needless to say, I spent a bit more than $6K. On the other hand, these 2nd Gen or most Toyota’s are $8K or more! They’re becoming really expensive.
I'm sure you know, but just a heads up for people. The Montero Sport is what was featured here, not the full size Montero (which is actually a great 4x4, I have one lol). Good video!
Bro was reading all the sales pamphlets, but has no idea what he was talking about. Where is the Jeep Cherokee XJ?? How is a Suzuki used as overlanding rig??? Second 80 series land cruiser shown was actually a 60 series... great fuel economy on the Hilux 22R?? Hell no! Compared to what? An LS3?
These are great vehicles, anywhere outside of California, most of these will probably have smog issues. And the california ones probably have the least rust too.
Thanks a bunch for your recommendation. And as for the Toyotas, they're rare catches, but you'll most certainly find your preferred model around 10k (might touch 15k max but won't be crossing that limit).
Good luck finding a Toyota/Lexus under 10k unless it has 300k plus miles.
They're rare, yeah. But if you can manage one, some modifications overtime, and you'll be good for years.

agree. Same with the Avalanche. Whoever compiled this listed, hasn't looked at the market in a while.
Those older Toyota/Lexus rigs will be good for many more miles so it is all good.
I found a 2012 toyota tundra with 175k miles for 9k! It has hail damage but the interior and engine are in great shape.
The fact that you have a Montero and a Vehicross on this list but not a Cherokee XJ is astounding
Thanks for your recommendation.
A good cherokee will not be a budget buy.
the XJ broke down on the way to the list

A decent fzj80 for under 10k, good luck, if you do find one it will need 5k worth of maintenance...
You have a point, but you'll find one around 10k. You may have to go a bit higher, but it won't cross 15k.

I hear ya! The features on that are unbeatable.
I drive a 1996 Toyota T100 SR5 4x4 extended cab all I’ve done is shocks and tires it has 250000+ mi and still going strong
That's amazing! Toyotas just rock.
05 GMC Yukon. 300k miles. I take it everywhere. Bought it for 3 grand 2 years ago.
Worth every penny, right?

Glad to hear you're enjoying your 4runner! And yeah, Toyotas are getting quite expensive day by day!
Got a 1980 jeep cj5, 1983 Ford bronco both have over 250,000 miles and still rolling.
Amazing machine! Hope you're enjoying your trips.
I'm sure you know, but just a heads up for people. The Montero Sport is what was featured here, not the full size Montero (which is actually a great 4x4, I have one lol). Good video!
Right! And it's nice to hear that you're rocking one still now. Solid choice

Thanks for sharing your point. We'll work on it.
Way too Toyota heavy , you for got the XJ and Excursion !!!
Thanks so much for the recommendations. We'll definitely try them out.
I wish i had this guy's enthusiasm over the mundane.
"Some owners have driven this vehicle over 200k!!!".
Right!
I was thinking nissan xterra and toyota hilux watching this. They were both on here. The nissan frontier is nice a truck for the money.
Those are some solid options.
I'm building a 1995 ram 4x4 2 door short bed . She rocks.
Wow! Would love to see and feature your build
16:06 "The TJ..." (Shows clip of a YJ). 😆
Thanks for the heads-up!
These are great vehicles, anywhere outside of California, most of these will probably have smog issues. And the california ones probably have the least rust too.
You're right!
Had a 2004 Tacoma V6 great little truck the gas MPG wasn't so great but other then that good vehicle...
Yeah, gas mileage was not the best on those.
What about the land cruiser series 70?
That's a great one as well.
Why they dont list the Lada Niva ?
Thanks for your recommendation. We'll definitely try it out.
This video is available for USA ?
It is.
@ But i am from Europe
Should I trust content that displays a bunch of ZJs when talking about WJs?
Thanks for the heads up!
love the thumbnail, theres no way youre finding a toyotalandcruiser that runs AND drives for under 10k
Thank you. And for the Toyota, you will find some in that range. You might have to stretch a bit, but even so, it won't be more than 15k.
80 series so good it got mentioned twice
Hahaha! Right.
Literally the best ever, my favorite vehicle I’ve had two, and a 100 series. Land Cruiser for life
Any GMT800 (Silverado, sierra, avalanche, Escalade, Tahoe, Yukon, or burb) will do for under $10k
Right!
No Jeep Cherokee XJ?
Thanks for your recommendation!!
Why do ypu show a ZJ? in a WJ segment....
Thanks for the headsup!
No 1st gen Durango?
Thanks for your recommendation. We'll definitely check it out.
WJ reliable ???
Might not be the most reliable machines out there, but with good upkeep, they hold up pretty well.
"The WJ is awesome!"
(Shows clip of ZJ 🙄)
Thanks for the heads-up!
I ilke how you mentioned 80 2x but i think you ment to put 60 in place
Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure I get that right in the future.
Hi think this list is wrong because where is Land Rover disco 1 and 2 and ford bronco and Chevy blasser
Thank you for your recommendations. We'll definitely take a look at them.
@@trailingoffroadFiat Campagnola
Wooh! That's a classic. If you want that, you've to go through an auction most probably,
And Toyota fj Cruiser?,I have the 2007
Definitely a good one!
@@goldsilverbroke78 that's really amazing! Would love to see more of your experience with it.
who has the best rocks? Trailing Offroad, smoking all the best crack! If you look at this from satire, its gold.
Hahahaha! Liked your humor.
You lost me at the 2004 WJ and showing a ZJ video
Sorry, if you felt that way.
Prado 90❤
1987 k5 blazer
Thanks for sharing your choice!
The title of the the video was - Budget.
You totally left out the LARGEST & BEST SUV on the planet!
The 4x4 Ford Excursion!!
Thank you so much for the suggestion. We'll definitely check it out.
How do you have an Avalanche, but not a Jeep Commander? And show me one Toyota 4x4 that is under 10k.
Thanks a bunch for your recommendation. And as for the Toyotas, they're rare catches, but you'll most certainly find your preferred model around 10k (might touch 15k max but won't be crossing that limit).
Isuzu Trooper? 🤷
Thanks so much for your reccommendation!
I eish i could find a vehicross.
Keep searching, they're rare, but a good catch.
Cayenne
YEAH!
... oh, and Monteros do suck! 😁
Hahaha, sorry if you had to face problems with a Montero.
Over half of them sucked. Also the second Land Cruiser was a 60 not 80
Thanks so much for your opinion. We'll keep that in mind.
Those are not Overlanders
Thanks for your input. You can suggest if we missed out on any. We'll take a look and keep that on our next video of this series.
The term overlanding is stupid😂
Hahahaha! Maybe...
@trailingoffroad it's camping
