Came here to see what would be a good vehicle to invest in to overland. Was told the shitbox cherokee sitting on 2 flat tires in my driveway is number 1. Not sure how to feel about it.
Unfortunately, most on this list are not available in Australia. We have the discovery, Hilux, Navara (which is a rebadged frontier), Hyundai Terracan (which was built on the 2nd gen Pajero (Montero), Cherokee XJ & kJ, the Holden rodeo (built by Isuzu), Holden Jackaroos (isuzu Trooper) and frontera ( also built by Isuzu), grand Cherokee WK and WJ, Toyota Prado ( which is the rebadged Lexus, Ford courier, Nissan Patrol, Subaru Vitara and Sierra, Nissan pathfinder, Mitsubishi Pajero and challenger. And of course the wrangler. Of course, with much of these models you will be looking for 04 and older, especially the patrols, wranglers, Prados and Pajeros. I picked up a KJ for my step daughters when they visit, and have a deal going on for an 06 WK to replace my written off daily driver (4.7 with quadradrive). I do want an early 3rd gen Pajero(Montero) or a Hyundai Terracan ( basically a 2nd gen Pajero) for a project car.

So im planing on buying jeep grand cherokee WJ from 2001-2003, but whst engine 2.7crd diesel or 4.0i petrol, just want to go offroading with friends, bit rockclimbing, going in bud and those offroad things nothing extreme.
@@nate9626 There is also 3.1td italian diesel, but they say its underpowered and more fuel consumption, but its cheaper by like 1-2k. Is it worth it or should i stick with 2.7crd
Sir good day not to nitpick, but may I site something you must have overlooked, The Lexus GX 470 is the upgraded version of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and the Lexus LX 470 the upgraded version of the Land Cruiser 100 series.Thank you.
Not too bad. It's from the same generation as my xj. From the factory in 1986-1995 great, now in 2021 not the best if not maintained but if you get one your gonna wanna lift kit cause a lift is one of the first major mods you do on a jeep right next to wheels and tires. If maintained stock pretty decent, it's set up for city/daily driving. Lifted and aged can feel a lil bit like driving a boat. This is more common in trail ridden ones.
not terrible, depends on how worn out the shocks can be, drove one for many years as my daily. Biggest problem was keeping the highway speeds of 75 with my 35 toyos on it. Those engines stock have some real wimpy numbers.
Front and rear lockers on adventure models. can fit 35s on a stock ride height and ugly? I dont know about that one. good list though @@destinationdaily
@@destinationdaily in terms of reliability the Cherokee isn’t beating a Land Cruiser. There’s a reason it’s the most driven and most trusted SUV worldwide.
the volkswagon beetle is the most sold car ever, that does not make it the best car ever. Land cruiser is more expensive to own with minimal advantages over the jeep. Taken care of they will both last 200k miles and go over almost everything. @@Mr.International82
@hcemsubs That's irrelevant in regards to what we're talking about here. If you made a video about the top 5 shoe brands in Florida and I put up the exact same video you did 3 days later except mine is in Spanish, do you think it matters that I put a sprinkle of my own style on it if it's basically the exact same product that you produced?

fabulous cinematography as always. And this area looks beautiful ❤️ 👌
I love my xterra's 2000 with 240,000 ml and 2006 130,000ml very solid vehicle reliable.
It’s a gem forsure
Jeep ZJ. Just like the XJ but better. Standard 4.0L straight six or two V8 options.
Finally some Love for the ZJ .. I have a 1998 4.0 108,000 original miles... Most comfortable leather seats, EVER!!!!
Thanks for the really great video. I really appreciate it
Thank you 👌🏻
Shoulda added the WJ to this list!
Love Xterras I think they look super unique and are a sexy vehicle when you put some mods on it !!
completely agree, a bit out there and super capable.
Going to buy a 1998 jeep cherokee Xj tomarrow!!!
Subscribed from the intro alone 😂😂
Love it. Enjoy your years to come. I feel like I don’t want to tell people what I want tho. Dont want the price to go up.
the used market is insane right now, many of these have passed that 10k mark now. Keep some hush hush ;)
Im looking into getting a montero 3 gen they have a 5k towing capacity not exactly under powered. Great video love the content.
Fantastic vid bud. Glad to subscribe. Can't wait to see more off roading content. Even though I only have an Impreza hatch 😂
have a great video in the works soon. Was working in spain since this last video and they offer no adventure for mud fiends.
10 under 10k and there are how many Toyotas? Aaand good luck finding a Trekker at all, let alone one under 20k
Landcruiser was on there though...I see your point though. Toyotas ain't cheap these days.
Fun and informative video, my friend. Thanks!

i’m waiting for the 80 series or the lx450, but then remembered that they are a bit more than 10k.
so many great vehicles, sadly all these used prices have made some of these skyrocket!
Great video thanks for the advice

The Dodge Raider is the same as the Mitsubishi
What are your thoughts on the Crosstrek for over landing?
Biggest issue will be aftermarket off-road gear and capability. If it’s just light trails you are after that’s another story
I would love a link or a name for that camping shell on the Tacoma. that looked bad ass
I'll see if I can find it
What do you make of a 2001 WJ Grand Cherokee?
availability in parts, overall reliability and a really passionate culture that helps out newbies.

How good are subaru outbacks for overlanding
Ground clearance can be a problem and internal size, did some camping trips in them. As long as the trails dont get very rocky they can be pretty fun.

A 1984 Land Cruiser is going for $29k
these all come on a varying spectrum, was able to find all of these for sale used in california for under 10k, but amybe not now
I was wondering if the 2000 Toyota 4runner sr5 would be a decent vehicle??? Just found one for $9,950 and am tempted to go get it Monday.
If the mileage isn’t too high he’ll yea!
Donut media type vibe
Under 10k with 300k miles
It’s bizarre how almost all of these are now over 10k
Tell me about it. Was helping a friend find a good vehicle a few weeks ago and everything almost doubled in 2 years.

Agree about the mic, thanks!
Why don't anybody talk about the Jeep Patriot? Inexpensive and very nimble
have a fair point here! maybe the updated list as most of these have skyrocketed in price
you'll never find a 3rd gen 4runner under 10 grand unless it's dead or practically dead. 200000 miles are going for 12 grand plus
at time of making, I found each vehicle on this list within 100 miles of me under 10k

The cherokee XJ can still be found for low $ therefore his assessment is spot on. The Jeep Cherokee XJ is still the best value in 4X4s
