Thank you for sharing the update. It is so beautiful & serene. I love the plantings and branches, color combinations and textures. It's so exciting to see so much wildlife enjoying it.
That's exactly what I want to build. I have a section of my yard that used to have a creek, until the city got rid of it, long before I bought the property. You can tell there was water there long ago. Asides from the plants, I think I have most things I need to do it. Will be checking for the original video.
My food forest hosts the origination of a creek (or stream). I have the shape only the water is lacking. Only visible when it rains. So this could work really well. It's super nice to know that there are so many caring people in the world trying to help wild critters!
@@carmenortiz5294 I agree with you 100%. In my short lifetime I've seen insect numbers plummet. My pollinator food forest will be doubled in size this year after seeing the success of it last year. The critters are starved for habitat. It makes me cry sometimes.
Thanks for the nice comment 👍. Please try and find the time to add even a small waterfeature thats easily accessible for wildlife to enjoy ,you won't regret it when you see just how many insects, birds and animals visit just for a drink on a hot day let alone the ones that live and breed in it . Thanks again.
It's best to look at has many wildlife vids on you tube and pick out the best bits from the ponds you like and incorporate into your project ..Good luck, it really is so rewarding.thanks! 👍.
Thanks so much ! One thing that's important and is my favourite part of my pond is the log stack. It's now covered in moss and ferns and it looks very natural now after a few years , I love it more than the newts and frogs that hide away in it during the year. If you can try and visit some woods or forest and find some old dead wood to add around your pond . Thanks again. 👍
How wonderful♥️ So happy to see an update. Your video about making a pond is the first one I watched when the idea of building one was still a tiny thing at the back of my mind 3 months ago. Now we have the materials and the location and we just need to get digging😊
Thank you. I'm glad it's helped to inspire you to build a pond and given you some ideas hopefully..Now it's down to you to create a little pond habitat of your own and enjoy what it brings, it sounds like you got a good start now so get the digging done soon .Thanks again 👍.
Stunning pond, so natural and teeming with life and your planting and color scheme is just too beautiful for words. What I wouldn't give to have such a beautiful pond in my garden. Well done.
Nice one mate. It's great news to hear my videos gave you the motivation to build a small pond for yourself, hope it all goes well and good luck 👍. Cheers .
Thank you for this pond update video and creating a beautiful water sanctuary for so many creatures. You definitely know how to make a natural scape, like it’s always been there and not man made. Your use of various size stones and colors, the now lush plants, logs and woods, best pond ever. Just needs a little turtle! ❤️ Cheers!!
Thanks for the nice comment mate 👍..The ponds surpassed everything I was hoping for so far and is maturing quickly..Its surprising how much wildlife it attracts for a such a small area and hopefully this video will encourage others to build one in their garden ..cheers 👍
What a joy to see all these different creatures benefiting from your pond. You've made a difference! I'm adding more deadwood and water around the garden I tend to.
Hi Randall 👋🏼 the pond is looking fabulous 👍🏼 loved the vlog & great camera work 🎥🎬 great to see all the wildlife even the squirrel got a staring roll 😂 fantastic job 😁🌱 Chip 🌱 CHIPS WORLD
Thanks chip ..I enjoyed filming it and putting it all together and that's exactly what's its all about..The pond has got me back out the garden again and keeping me busy..Those squirrels get their own feeding station so they don't wreck my garden and the bird feeders (the little sods), they can be probmatic but I find them entertaining to watch and are welcomed 😀 👍
Looks great 1 year later! Nice one (I’d love a pond like this as you’ve got some many interesting bits to it and thoughtful but my wife says no for the moment ….)
Your pond is perfect. I love everything about it. I may try and do a similar thing as i am about to cut my enormous Apple in half and will have the logs to hand.
Great to see this. What a stunning success! My pool (inspired by your original video) is only a month or so old, but if after a year it is half as good as this I'll be delighted. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Norman. I remember you commenting before that you we're going to build a pond and I'm so glad you made the plunge..I really hope it all works out well and you get the pleasure of seeing the wildlife enjoy it as much as we do..cheers bud 👍
Think you've done a great job on this. Looks like you got some inspiration from Joel Ashton but I've got to say I like the look of your pond much more. You've definitely attracted the wildlife which was so nice to watch. I can't wait to do my pond next year and you've given me even more inspiration. Can I ask what liner you used and where it was from and also the dark coloured fleece please.
Thanks mate 👍..yes I definitely like Joel's channel and have watched most of hes uploads and got plenty of ideas from him ..the liner is by oasis, but im not sure about the dark fleece I was given that by someone many years back who had it left over from a koi pond they built. Cheers.
Amazing job, 👍well done, i found some frog spawn in a puddle in the side of the road and now I have tadpoles, it’s gave me a wildlife kick and I’m hoping to have a pond up and going for next year, and hopefully encourage some froggies. I’ve been watching a few YT videos and yours is my favourite.
Thanks mate..Well done in helping out on the rescue of the frog spawn, I've seen similar things over ther years and it's a shame especially when we know it won't take long for the puddles and ditches to dry out in a warm spell..I'm glad it's giving the bug also to get a small pond built and they will return when mature enough to breed ...thanks again 👍
First....I tapped the thumbs up 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters. One question: What do you do to control 2,000 or more baby frogs? Do snakes come eat them? Birds eat them? Some die from lack of food? I want to make a 60' × 30' pond..... I could have a 100,000..... YIKES ! Thanks
Thank you very much . The reason why you get so many tadpoles is because they have so many predators waiting to devour them. Birds , newts and dragon fly larvae to name just a few..Its all part of nature's way to balance out things.. 👍
very cool pond, and nice video! inspiring! did the frog situation self-regulate, and they just went on their own way, or was it a noticable increase in their numbers after they evolved from tadpoles
Hello. The frogs haven't returned in any numbers to my pond yet! I get a few each year and plenty of the tadpoles make it to froglets so I quess its going to be a few more years before I can make an assumption about a noticeable increase..thanks 👍
Beautiful pond. I've just built one but I think it's too deep. I'm going to have to put more stones in to make the beach area. Already had frogs coming in to a teeny weeny rough pond I made years ago, but hopefully now I'll get more wildlife in. Love your planting. Is that purple loosest rife you have there?
Thanks Anna for the nice comment.Great to hear you have built a pond and the frogs are sure to love it and you can always add a few Rocks to bench up the pebble beach area ..The plant you asked about is lobelia siphilitica which loves moist areas and the bees love them to. Thanks 👍
Thanks mate ..A combination of the right amount of pond plants and not having any fish, the only maintenance I'm doing is thining out the pond weed and removing any debris that is blown into the water.👍.
Thank you . 👍 ..I do no maintenance the ponds stayed clear since the build ..It helps not having fish and the plenty of pond plants, then just leave it to nature..I have to clear the tree leaves every autumn and top up due to evaporation in summer with rain water from water butt's I have stored and that's about it . Cheers 👍
Beautiful wildlife pond! You don't have any sign of algae, any tips to keep it at bay? Also do you mind me asking what plants you have growing/covering in the water at 3.15 mins into your video? Thanks.
The plant is watercress and its brilliant for helping to keep algae at bay..I got mine in a packet from the supermarket and I ate half and put the other in my pond..thanks 👍
They've always been here, theirs a good population in the area I live, they're normal hiding out in the yellow grass at the side of my pond until my dog flushes them out ..cheers mate 👍
Thank you so much for the update, its THE most amazing pond ever. I could sit there all day. The wildlife are loving it & you have frogs!!
Thanks emmsue ,, the frogs are everywhere in my garden now which is great to see after they've disappeared for so many years.. 👍
Thanks for a delightful video.
