I thought about using the "fast strat", but decided on draining Pixie's MP as that's the most reliable to replicate. But there's actually a lot of ways you can approach this. See this channel for more ways to bully the Demi-fiend: www.youtube.com/@yuzu7361

As many people point out, the music that playing is the normal encounter music of smt nocturne. So to the demi fiend see this as normal encounter, while your fighting with all your might here.
for me, I am a sucker for fight where you fight previous protagonist. I mean not only is it cool fanservice , there something funny meta wise that you yourself made this boss so powerful. leopard eat my face in video game form.

@@ampkenryu7145 Yeah, NONE of the moves he uses here are moves I actually run on him in Nocturne. I tend to just use Divine Shot (or whatever it's called) for the midgame and Friekugel for the end. The basic physical skills that scale off HP get me thought the rest of it, though also Tornado early on.
It's weird how Gaia Rage is pretty lame in Nocturne itself but somehow became the strongest SMT move ever in his superboss fights.

Something I really like about the Demi-Fiend fight against both the Nahobino and the Embryon Team is how they all share the parallels of being former humans who became part-demon at the start of their journey, which they didn't have much of a choice but to accept, it makes the line "Your fate is an awful curse / Please! I'm a human being!" from the battle theme stand out to me for some reason in both instances but especially for the DDS team, Naho has his own parallels to Demi-Fiend, but becoming a Nahobino I don't think is exactly an "awful curse" but more on him if we ever get there

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy  3 місяці тому +7

Also I guess, the Demi-fiend (with the TDE implied to be canon to most of his other game appearences) ended up siding with the one who turned him part-demon, while the Embryon end up opposing them.

As a person who defeated Demi Fiend without the red star strategy, I love how players still talk about this fight, even after all these years.
I won't hide it; beating him that way has been the toughest boss fight I have ever done in any game. It took me countless hours to grind to high stats and countless hours/lost tries to discover my personal way to win him without copying and pasting a guide.
At this point I have already defeated him more than once, using different saves, but the sensation of fighting him is unforgettable, literally the only thing I almost gave up against in my videogame career.
No boss fight in any souls game gave me the feeling of hopelessness like Demi fiend did

0:45. I saw a UA-cam video that said there are two names that strike fear into the hearts of all JRPG fans. The first one is obviously Demi-Fiend and the 2nd was Elizabeth, specifically her FES incarnation, not Reload.
26:00. You know something else about this. Despite Demi-Fiend using the Masakados Magatama, something you're not even supposed to have until around the Final Boss, he's using Demons whose base levels don't exceed 60 which is Mid-Game by Nocturne standards. The music AND his party hammer in the massive gap in power.

    • @BigKlingy

0:45 Elizabeth I find kinda weird, since she's more a check for having specific Personas/skills... though that's also this fight. But I never liked how she demands Armageddon, I... think?
26:00 Well, Pixie represents the Uber Pixie, which you get at Lv 80, while you can buy a high-level Grimehkala with Pierce from a Shady Broker late into Amala. (Behind a door that requires Metatron, who's Lv 90 I think)

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy  3 місяці тому +4

It's also funny given that human form characters in DDS2 are weak to guns. Though the Demi-fiend IS vulnerable to Hama skills while humans here are immune to them, so he's still more Demon that human.

I’m guessing the Demi fiend after the true demon ending kinda got lost, ran into the dds world, and Gaia raged the embryon to oblivion. He’s playing the long game after all against the will, The great will either bows to him or he breaks it.

    Congrats on beating Demi-Fiend.
7:27 ~ The internal count limit of 50 would a lot better, unfortunately based on my testing and various wiki sources it is actually 30.
11:36 ~ Understandable, since 'Red Star' is the semi-common way to defeat Demi-Fiend, Girimekhala will not be re-summoned.
Girimekhala will use either Agidyne, Debilitate, or Demon Rage as his first summon move, like Cu-Chulainn using either Executioner, Skull Cleave, Demon Rage, or Sakura Rage as his first summon move, however Girimekhala will not use his first-summon move and straight into Mamudoon spamming if Cu-Chulainn is about to use his first-summon move, this creates the potential scenario where the whole party is wiped out by Mamudoon on the opening rounds with the Demi-Fiend.
19:48 ~ Personally found the Mind Charge + Celestial Ray to be better since it allows better control when a debuff is applied before attacking, as sometimes it is better not to distract Cu-Chulainn so he can use Taunt to distract Girimekhala.
46:03 ~ Unfortunately, Soma is NOT farmable in DDS1, the limit of numbers of Soma the Player gets from Pods and from some Boss fights are all there is.
1:00:09 ~ DDS2 Super Boss is debatable whether it is harder than Demi-Fiend. Personal experience in fighting the two Super Bosses from easiest to hardest at Level 99:
    - DDS2 Super Boss with Four Press-Turns using Gale's Save Import skill.
    - Demi-Fiend using Red Star.
    - DDS2 Super Boss with Four Press-Turns without using Gale's Save Import skill.
    - Demi-Fiend fought normally.
    - "Fast" Demi-Fiend method.
    - DDS2 Super Boss with 3 party members and 3 Press-Turns.
Anyway, looking forward to DDS2 when that is being covered, and quoting the ending scene from DDS1"Are you ready for the real world?"

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy  3 місяці тому

Hi Yuzu! Hope you don't mind me talking about your strategies.
7:27 Oh yikes, if that's true then I cut it closer with Pixie than I thought (and maybe Arahabaki too?). I can believe that, because 50 actions is a long time.
11:36 Is Vanity a "first summoning move" from Pixie? Because she stopped using it here after her first turns. That'd make sense.
But yeah, I generally either use Red Star or... my Yolo run doesn't make it past Parvati.
19:48 Understandable. Celestial Ray is a decent option here, though its MP cost is pretty high.
46:03 You probably don't need more than... 5 though. It's also funny how the Demi-fiend himself drops one of them.
1:00:09 I've been using Gale's transfer skill in the final dungeon and it's... pretty strong. I'll likely do the most reliable DDS2 superboss strat like I did here, because there's so much to keep track of in that fight. There's also things like the Pass Ring that impact strats and challenge runners often ban.

    • @yuzu7361
      @yuzu7361 3 місяці тому

Not at all, it is good to bring attention to the fact that the act of summoning Pixie or Parvati does not trigger Gaea Rage, it is them using Dormina, so Gaea Rage can also be avoided by not giving them a chance to use Dormina.
To my knowledge, Pixie should only have Dormina as her first summon move, however her AI can be a bit wonky for her first action after Dormina since she might use Skills from her alternative branch which triggers if she or her allies are below 50% HP consists of Maziodyne, Vanity, and Diarama, though she does go back to spamming Megidolaon afterward if everyone in her party is healthy.

I remember having 3 calculators open to track Demi fiend hp, pixie turn count and pixie mp. And looking through my group chat history I did get mamudoon’d for 3. It also didn’t help that I didn’t read any newer updates on optimising Demi fiend past the 2005 gamefaqs guide so like an idiot I maxed out luck. It was also my first stat maxed due to how easy pixie farming was so… lol.
Overall I like super bosses in general, the challenge and satisfaction of beating them is what I live for. However ranking the smt superbosses I’ve played against for fun factor I’d go Overclocked lucifer > dds2 satan > dds1 Demi fiend > ds2 Alice > record breaker Tico. Satan compared to Demi fiend, I think satan is tougher than Demi fiend but is so fun as a super boss. The stress of keeping track of turn counts, managing charge, the phases, it’s so fun. I imagine part of the fun i had is strategising plays around the press turn karma rings, those make so many strats possible, I love satan

57:57 I don't believe Demi-fiend has his own death scream in his home game; just the generic death sound that is used for every other demon.
Incidentally, I did Red Star (albeit low-level with only HP, Vi, and Ma maxed) before the proper fight (max level, all stats except Lu maxed, no Red Star)...and _the former_ took me more attempts, while I may possibly have done the latter in one go? :O
For the non-Red Star fight, I believe I killed both demons at once each time, and survived Gaea Rage by _withdrawing two members each time_ to preserve Close Calls (each time Dormina failed, at least). I might also have had someone use a (de)buff before withdrawing the other two; with only 3 turn icons, Demi would summon again, the summoned demon would negate the (de)buff, and Demi-Fiend would Gaea Rage. I would then deploy a Tuner next turn; as long as they weren't petrified before I could deploy another member, I believe they could usually survive the turn after Gaea Rage even though the one who just lost Close Call would be doomed to fall. I believe this generally made Gaea Rage pretty consistently survivable up to 5 times in the fight.
As a bonus, I played Kotowari (Reason) Boss Battle alongside all my actual attempts.
If there was a Hardtype mod for this game, I would want thi fight to be a little more in line with its SMT5 incarnation, Vengeance included...

I looked up "zerosu" (ゼロス) in Japanese wikipedia and the only article that made sense was the one about the Greek god/daimon Zelus, spelled Ζῆλος in ancient Greek. Zelus is the personification of... zeal (dedication, emulation, envy, rivalry, and jealousy), and the word "zeal" in fact comes from Ζῆλος.
"Xeros" is probably mistakenly seeing the Japanese and thinking of the Greek word ξηρός which means "dry" and is part of many compounds in English related to dryness--xerostomia, xerography etc.
"Biito" on the other hand seems to nearly always translate either to (musical) beat, or the vegetable beet.

Now that DDS 1 is done I figured I'd just share my wishlist for a potential port/remaster:
    - Make it so you only have to buy a Mantra once, maybe make an exception for the special mantra from bosses (characters would still need to master each mantra of a branch to get to the end). This is mainly to cut down grinding for money
    - Make the Estoma spray available from the start, or better yet, make Estoma and Riberma available as skills like in Nocturne
    - Make an equivalent of the GoHo-M which warps you to the last terminal you used (I was hoping Nocturne HD did the same but alas no)
    - Put a large terminal right before the final boss
    - Make Demi-Fiend available outside of New Game+
    - Have the Demi-Fiend's battle theme cycle through all the guitar solos, like you mentioned
    - After beating the Demi-Fiend, give the player a Mantra with his skills, so that there's a reward in DDS 1 itself and not just the sequel. If you've endured the Demi-Fiend's Gaea Rage rampage, you deserve to have one yourself
That's basically it, I wouldn't really want to add in stuff they added in DDS 2 mainly to keep those two games distinct. Besides maybe making it so skills and status effects are the same between games, like Cocytus' freeze chance, and Curse making Mudo more likely
And on the note of the Demi-Fiend and Nocturne HD, another thing I was hoping for was for Serph and crew to be a New Game + encounter. To keep with the idea of them being a random encounter to DDS's Demi-Fiend, they'd be a rare random encounter in the Amala Network and programmed to always give the player the first turn

I do find it funny that the Demi-Fiend is implied have this be a part of his TDE conquest and he was sent either here, sent to be a part of the second party in SMT4A DLC, or sent to SMTV. All just to kick ass. Demi-Fiend isn't Doomguy from SMT Strange Journey levels of surprisingly overpowered but he is THE one to fear if you're ever pitted against him. ALL THE WHILE the normal battle theme or a remix of plays when you fight against him. We are the random encounter in his conquest.
Though I will mention one disappointment I have with this fight. They don't include the other battle theme variations and only use variation one. It would hammer home how boned we are if every attempt we fight against him its just another variation of the normal fight theme.

"[stalling Pixie out of MP] is what most speedruns go with" is... man that just sums up the ridiculousness of this fight.
So the Red Star strat is what the FGC would call "survival horror"-- you've got to near-perfectly play defense against an opponent using a powerful but finite resource that can and will wreck you.
And what a bout of survival horror this fight is. Like... yeah, that's all I can call it.

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy  3 місяці тому

It also takes around 40 minutes or so. IN A SPEEDRUN, AFTER 8 HOURS OF GRINDING. There are ways to do it faster, but in a speedrun of that length consistency is what's important (according to Yuzu's video descriptions, the faster strats can take 1000s of attempts to get a winning run).
Wow, that's a really good description, actually. Do you know of any notable fighting game characters who cause that kind of reaction?

    • @danielm.5078
      @danielm.5078 3 місяці тому

I do legitimately wonder if the fight was even playtested.
Less a specific character and more if there's an strong enough Install/buf at play-- I've mostly seen it applied to Under-Night, which due to its heavy momentum-based mechanics one player can easily snowball and have a situation where they have tons of meter and multiple layers of damage buffs but if you can stall that out the tides get turned.
EDIT: another big one is Samurai Shodown, as the Rage gauge buffs all damage, powers up specific moves per character, and gives them access to a super move that also disarms you of your weapon-- but if you can wait it out you're now closer to entering Rage and turning the tables.

  • @galladeforce

So a few notes on this boss
As for choosing him, Ike a lot of cases I feel like it was because it would both be eliciting for people to fight the Protagonist of another game while also being easier to implement, the Demi Fiend was the only main character from an SMT game that was in a 3D game at the time on that console, hence his model and skill animations where already there, you could for example make Nemissa from Soul Hackers a super boss, but her model and any unique skills they could give her would have to be made from scratch
I wonder how they decided on his demon selection though, Because theoretically they could decide on what demons they where bringing back with this fight in mind, as it’s not like they brought in any demons who didn’t have a role outside this fight, but unless I’m missing context for Noctrune lesser known boss fights or special demons I cannot see how Cu Chulainn or Titania have any special significance to Nocturne the same way Pixie and Girimekhala have.
For his immunities, while I do feel it very much limits your options and hence requires you to go out of your way, but it’s also something you can easily plan around with this games skill system, everyone can get Almighty and Earth skills so it doesn’t feel like it’s limiting your team options as it would be in other games, While being an interesting reference since the only elements he can hit by are Almighty and the elements not in Noctrune,
Something I wondered earlier and looked into is how this idea would apply to other Atlus games that came after this,
While I feel there is some things that would be arguable, mainly that he’s immune to Physical but not Gun, which gives me the idea that he’s immune to Physical but not physical elements, so for example, apart from the general Almighty and things that Pierce he is immune to eveyrthing in Raido games, Persona 4 and SMT V he would be able to be hurt by Gun skills in SMT IV, both Persona 3 and Tokyo Mirage Sessions use unconventional physical elements Persona 1 an Persona 2 have a lot not often used elements, Persona 5 he would be able to be hurt by Gun, Nuke and Psy, And you have cases ranging from everyone in Persona 1 and 2 having sone means to hurt him to Persona 4 only Yu and Naoto can.
Another aspect I don’t like about the boss design of some super bosses is when they have a restrictions that makes an already hard fight harder by removing a possible advantage that you can use and spent time getting. When the game doesn’t limit your ability to spend your time and resources to get them but allows you to use them against anything else. I feel like you should be able to use all the advantages you have in a tough fight
In the case of the Demi Fiend you not allowed to have immunities, it removes something that you can use against the boss to make the fight easier, meaning that you are forced to take many hits at full force when it is very much possible to avoid having to take that damage, And it’s not like you cannot make a Superboss that can be designed around that or could be used strategically, building on this fight
For example everything has either Megidoloan or Ragnarok as an offensive skill if you are immune to everything and will spam it as their offensive move of choice if you do,
Having immunity to Darkness on everything for example would mean that Girimekhala never use Darkness but still means that you can protect yourself against instant death, and Girimehkala has only Demons Rage for physical skills, if every party member was immune to physical he will not use it , but if a party member he has a chance to use it, while Cu Chulainn would use Executioner on the one party member who isn’t immune if he’s in play,
I feel like this is better than Persona 3’s Superboss in one way, the fact that you can choose what skills everyone has at any time means it’s easy to spec your party for this fight,
And related to that, I don’t like how this bosses unique aspects efefct what is considered good outside of it and how you have to do things you wouldn’t do in a playthrough normally for this fight.
For example the fact that Null Sleep is a major party of the strategy for this fight, it gives Null Sleep some importance and praise for how it helps in this fight, when normally while not a terrible skill, it means that the negatuve effects of sleep no longer means the party members are sitting ducks, something else also makes Stun less of an issue, can cause enemies to lose press turns and allows you party members to still be active and also protects against Stun, Null Nerve,
Other than this fight it shares usefulness real estate with another skill, but it gets a boost in how well it’s regarded because of its usage in one fight when I feel Null Nerve does more for you generally, Or you wouldn’t want a party member to have less Luck or be weak to Ailments normally but it becomes part of the Null Sleep strategy, Contributing and combining the tendency of the reputation of something being valued because it really helps against bosses when most of your fighting is against regular enemies, or because of something being more useful for something difficult it gets billing when you don’t need it otherwise.
When other things useful for this fight, like Lost Word, Ragnarok and Salvation do not rely on this fight entirely to justify their value,
37:05 This also shows that despite how low Luck is pushed as preferred it is a double edged sword, the party would be way less likely to be inflicted by Gate of Hell if Luck was maxed
And that is also why the Demi Fiend criticals so much as he does, it’s still something you would have to deal with with maxed Luck
49:20 “I don’t care that you are unconscious get back in and do your work soldier”
Also even in a lot of games that have the inbuilt ability to change party members in the middle of battle I do not remember many games where you can switch out uncounsious members
Another aspect of this fight and its reputation, that it shows the Demi Fiend as one of the stronger SMT Protaginist since A. The fight is very very hard, B. It seems like the Demi Fiend is holding back since despite seemingly being equipped with Masakados, an endgame Magatama he’s using mid game skills, C. the music being that of Nocturne’s regular encounter theme rather than a boss theme, with the idea that he thinks of you as a regular encounter,
Not only is it something that relies on interpreting decisions that might not have an intended meaning, for all we know it’s because it was the closest thing they had to his theme, Since it plays for every regular encounter you play as him for and it’s not like he’s facing a boss if he is the boss k
To me this links into aspects of VS Battles and how much it can rely on interpretation and guess work when you have any cases of characters at similar scales of power.
They put the Demi Fiend in a situation he isn’t normally in, not dealing with the enemies he normally does and whom story wise he is very likely stronger than, since he canonically defeated them, hence we interrupt aspects of this fights gameplay to supoort the idea of Demi Fiend being stronger even if we can both defeat him and it wasn’t intended to show that
When taken out of that story, determine strength relative to another you typically have to look at Feats and Scaling, seeing what the most durable thing a character or the amount of force an atatck does and comparing to a durability feat their opponent has and whenever or not that out powers that,
Powerscaling, it can give you an idea of strength I feel is less definitve, it’s doesn’t involve direct comparisons between what the two can do and can even be arguable, Since having Character A being said to be stronger than Character B from his series then anything Character B has done can be used to argue that Character A is capable of that, as long as they are capable of similar feats,
The first requires you to interrupt what the character has done, the other has less weight so I find it hard to definitively say who is stronger in most instances, hence why I find determine relative strength of two fictional characters of similar to hard to say definitively and hence why I often don’t get mad at it,
Something that might be sad, despite being a very small part of the game and reliant on another game, this might be the most well known and well used part of Digital Devil Saga, Since the idea of the Demi Fiend with demon allies was used again in V and a major boss fight in Soul Hackers 2 uses a lot of the same demons in the fight
58:06 Talking about the Demi Fiend making sounds, I wonder who even made those vocalisations to begin with, while the Demi Fiend does have a fully fledged Japanese and English voice actor in Junya Enoki and Chrstian La Monte , none of them were active at the time.
Which is something I find weird about the idea of Nocrtune Remaster, it did give these characters voices for the first time but it’s also a case where a lot of the cast wouldn’t have been active in 2003, with only Paul Eiding, Patrick Seitz, David Lodge, Keith Silverstein and Jamieson Price would have been active back then

Time to interupt everything to timestamp this hell of an encounter. Let's see, we've got:
    0:05 A reset button...
    0:09 ...and a death button.
5:25 With a bunch of rules one needs to follow to prevent both the reset and death buttons from achieving their purpose.
Yep, this is a certified Atlus superboss all right.
5:40 Thankfully, his main character status wasn't revoked when he became a multi dimensional superboss. If anything he picked up some privileges along the way.
6:12-6:28 Again, in usual Atlus superboss fashion, if you try to null his attacks, he will murder you.
7:53 Finally we reach the bio.
8:00 Which is specially weird when Skadi had Earthquake and Dante would love to remind you of his guns... except both of those were Physical in Nocturne. But yeah mercifully he's succeptible to Gun... or unfortunately depending on how you look at it.
8:22 Oh so that's the extra press turn challenge runs of Nocturne ban for masochism?
8:27 I guess that means he got the True Demon Ending and stole Lucifer's basic attack... except his punch doesn't have a stupidly high crit rate. The rest of his skills... yeah.
9:34 Deadly is right. Some might say overkill. If you could boing it back he'd almost defeat himself 3 times over.
11:28 As learnt from human only runs, death is an acceptable way to cleanse debuffs... just obviously not for all 3 characters at once.
11:55 She shall do the Morgana thing. And if you don't obey... Death.
    15:06 THE WALL!
16:48 Huh, his demons did remember to do the switch for the DDS affinities... Good thing he forgot.
18:14 Note, Null Critical is actually just Resist Critical, you *will* get crit eventually. With Null Critical you just might lengthen the time between crits. You'll also not get murdered for taking it. Which is probably the most important part.
19:12 Pros, it murders everyone. Cons, it murders too well. And that includes the user.
19:46 Sadly we don't get the status shanenigans. Also oof 99 MP cost.
22:05 And now she's stuck... until she clicks Recarmdra. Which i assume doesn't happen as we know proceed to delete Demi Fiend's hp bar as soon as possible.
24:00 Time for a whole 36 minute brawl against mister SMT Nocturne himself.
    24:22 Ty bubbletea!
26:00 This is one heck of an hallucination, if that's the explanation.
28:57 I guess that's another side effect of changing worlds.
31:02 Here comes the death button!
    38:45 Commence the pattern!
44:09 Why does it sound like something you'd hear at a spooky theme park-?
    48:05 We made it!
49:12 I figure you should be able to deploy dead people, how else would you revive them after placing them back there?
51:09 He's just the Demi-fiend. No race, just Demi-fiend (didn't SMTV give him the King race or smth like that?)
    53:44 Bzzt, denied.
56:10 Always awesome to see the superboss' animation change and the number turn red. Both here and in DDS2.
56:46 I guess a trip to the wiki can shine some light on that... Or not, it just mentions the animation swap and how Ragnarok uses the same animation as Nocturne Xeros-Beat (Javelin Rain here)
57:56 Aw Cielo didn't take us home. Would've been the ultimate redemption arc.
58:20 Again, that's one heck of a hallucination.
58:36 And maybe, perhaps, go along with him to say hi to Lucifer again.
59:23 Also makes the fight you get it in a legitimate threat. God dammit Demi Fiend.
    Next time, Nirvana for real.

The Demi-fiend from SMTIII such as Nocturne.. To never thought he was to come here in this world of the 1st Digital Devil Saga.. Yeah.. This isn't his 1st otherworldly & unexpected journey.. yet in other ways & possibilities, he's not to be scoffed to heed a huge advice. 🤔.. (Must be the Mandala Effect coming around to other worlds with each its own occurrences.) Interesting.. He's pretty everywhere that U don't see him much like in here..

At long last, time face DDS Demi Fiend and wait what's that? *Instantly dies due to one of DDS Demi's many BS tactics during this fight* ... And that's why we needed Klingy and this video...
Also one hour to explain how to defeat the infamous DDS Demi Fiend fight... Still not as long as Kloe the Movie.
2:57- And now a moment of silence to the few people who did all of the Noise farming BEFORE NG+ and had to redo all of that...
5:53- Which shows him doing all of the boss rematches in Nocturne and beating them under their par time is "canon" to get that extra press turn... That or to tease the players who didn't get it by having it be featured in his super boss fight here. (8:26- Oh hey, you mentioned that too. Neat and glad I wasn't the only one making that joke.)
6:17- Didn't realize it was even the null-aliments too; Thought it was just the null passives for damage moves. That's just rubbing salt into the wound.
6:22- That also sucks. Really hate to see one of the coolest aspects of this game and an interesting way to balance out weaknesses, the shield skills, are banned too. Wonder if it was also Demi who made their descendants of block skills in SMTV/Vengeance be ludicrously overpriced.
7:38- Oh, that's devious. I thought that measure was there as another way for Demi to go into Gaea Rage Spam with Recarmdra. The fact ANY of his demons can and will do that once they hit 50 is mean. So that's the time pressure on this fight like there is in the V/Vengeance version of this fight.
11:26- And thus introducing one of my least favorite aspects of the Demi fight both in this game AND the V/Vengeance fight; Way too much luck involved depending on what you're doing. More so in this game given the instant death spam you're now allowed to block at all, though Chaotic Will in V is also quite BS if that goes off. Either way, not a fan of that aspect, especially given how complicated the fight here already is and makes this already brutal fight into a luck fest as well.
11:43- Also another major luck factor I'm not a fan of with this fight.
20:26- Also the fact that Yuzu's sub 20 minute win is not only a rarity, but also took so long to finally get someone to kill Demi that "quick" without cheats shows how brutal this fight has been over the years...
    23:26- Arabahki jumpscare. Xp
24:02- I need to wish for more than luck to help you out in this fight Klingy...
25:11- Wait Klingy, you left Null Sleep on Cielo! Klingy watch out! Klingy! (26:20- Wait what? But I thought he was supposed to Gaea Rage there since we had a null aliment skill there... Unless the devs let that one not trigger it since they are pricks and wanted to people miss out on getting hit by the one stats effect that lets them survive this fight... Non zero chance of that.) [EDIT: I'm an idiot. I keep forgetting Null Sleep isn't actually Null Sleep. My bad. I goofed there, Klingy was never in danger of an early Gaea Rage. Damn you mistranslations.]
37:01- I apologize for complaining about a fight I've never faced before so much, but that is another thing I'm not a fan of with this fight is just how so much of it feels like you're not really making progress all that much when you're trapped in healing loops like this.
49:15- It's always morbidly funny whenever a game lets you throw back in a knocked out party member; Mainly for the mental image of whoever you're swapping out just chucking an unconscious or even dead person back into the thick of the fight. Xp
52:55- Me too. But more so with the gun thing since you get stuff like Masakado in Strange Journey/Redux having resists/nulls in everything EXCEPT for guns and thus leaving an awkward blanks there, which is just very amusing to me.
53:53- The one constant that I do love for this fight between here and the V/Vengeance version; People finding ways to cheese a Mediaharan skip. lol
    57:59- VICTORY SCREECH!
58:40- *Cuts to Demi instead getting bullied but the Nahobino given not only how his fight in V is much easier, but there's also multiple cheese Strats, including a new one in Vengeance where Nahobino can cause Demi's Mot PTSD to go off*
59:17- Which on that note, PLEASE save after your win here Klingy.
And that's it for DDS. Man despite it going by so fast that was a fun LP and can't wait to see the sequel Klingy. Once again, many thanks for the wonderful LP.
In other news, A LOT since last time. While it's been a bit since I played it, I made it up to Chapter 7 of Mega Man X Command Mission. I'll give more specific updates when I start getting back into it as there's a lot to go over from me finally getting to use something funny to me now reaching the parts of the game where things get a bit more difficult.
Up next is SMTV Vengeance, last time I was getting ready to face Demi in that game. Since then, not only did I beat him with the cheese Strat I alluded to at 58:40, but I have also finally beaten Vengeance! I haven't beaten a certain super boss yet that you're allowed to face soon after, but I'll return to that once my Switch is repaired with its battery indicator (learned that my family's printer has been broken, so actually getting a damn label so I can ship my Switch off for repairs is going to take some time) as I don't want to face a fight like that legimtately and do a lot of grinding and strategy adjustments when the time I send my Switch for repairs is uncertain (and this don't want to risk ending Vengeance on a sour note if I have to wait two weeks in the middle of those attempts). For now though, glad that I got to beat SMT V Vengeance as it turned one of my least favorite SMTs into maybe my favorite(?). Not sure if it beats Nocturne for me, but Vengeance is still a great game that I'll be looking forward to returning to one day. For now, I'll be moving onto other games that I need to beat. But before talking about those, for the ones who want to know my full thoughts, made a Backlogged entry for it (you'll know it's mine when you see my current profile pic here over there), though be warned that while I do try to keep spoilers to a minimum, I do have some explicit story spoilers near the end, so beware if you're going to ignore all of the spoiler warnings that I have in my review.
But now for getting back to games that I need to finish... Trails Fans we're back to Trails from Zero on my end! I do have less time to play it as I have my Switch Dock set up on the family TV and too lazy to move it up to my room, but I'm still making some solid progress. Last time I played I was like 50-60% through Chapter 3 and now I'm approaching what seems to be its climax soon enough. Don't want to say too much as I don't want to spoil this excellent game, but I hope that I do all Trails fans proud by saying I fulfilled my obligation to the Fishing -Cult- Guild by catching ALL of the fish in the game, which clearly is the most important piece of progress that I can make besides plot. lol

6:22 To be fair, elemental shield skills are pretty strong, especially for bosses who telegraph their attacks. So I can see the MP price hike. But also you can just buy items for all the shields... (except Phys Dampener)
25:11 "Null" Sleep is not a null skill. As I said earlier in the vid, it was mistranslated. It makes you dodge all attacks while asleep, not make you immune to sleep. "Null" Critical is also not a Null skill.

This basically those Velvet room attendant fights only a lot worse.
It is cool to see some of the continuity with Demi here.
At least Null Sleep is still allowed even though it really isn't a null skill.
Only the physical and ailment shields seem useful in this fight if you are allowed to use them. SMT superbosses do have a tendency to require completely different strategies to beat them.
Most SMT superbosses do have an anti stalling thing they do. Most of the time, it is them killing you on the spot.
That is probably one reason why I prefer the Velvet room fights since while they are tough, they do like to follow set patterns or they telegraph what they do so it feels like less luck is involved.
This fight is the coolest thing to an endurance race with a RPG boss fight.
I also skipped another boss fights healing recently although that was by complete accident.
I think one of my favourite videos of this fight was the person giving Rage/Psycho Rage to Serph and then he was spamming Makakaja and Megidolaon just like Mot.
Can't wait for DDS2 and maybe share some more info about Hindu myth that I research as well.
Good to hear that you already made it to Chapter 7 and it will be fun to here more about Command Mission as well.
Hope the Switch repairs go well for you and it was nice to read that review for Vengeance as well. It is a game I will always keep in the back of my head and hopefully I can find a really good opportunity to buy and play it as well considering how spoiled for choice I am with potential games I can get.
Good to hear that you are making more progress with Trails from Zero and later, it will be very fun to discuss the ending parts of the game as well. Fishing really didn't feel that bad in Zero which was nice since I didn't have much problems catching every fish either.
As for myself, before we get into the games I am playing, I am still thinking about what to do about my Discord link and one idea was to make a community post sharing it but I want your feedback on if that is a good idea to do or not since this is something that is completely new to me and could be a big risk so I want to try the best I can to not make any mistakes.
For the games, Pokemon Black and White has started up and it is proving a very fun playthrough to record and the comments are very fun as well.
Gran Turismo 4 is going well since I am roughly 91% done and I completed the Motegi 8 hours and Tsukuba 9 hour endurance races. The former, the Amuse S2000 proved a very fun to car to drive with its high mechanical grip and the latter, I used a Tommy Kaira ZZ-S and with its low weight, alright mechanical grip and high downforce thanks to having the option for an equippable rear wing, it did really well as well and we won both by very large margins. Motegi won me a Honda NSX-R LM Road Car and Tsukaba won me Godzilla, aka, the Nissan R32 GTR Race Car. That means only the 24 hour races remain but I want to tackle them later so first, let's get the S License. The tests in this license are 1 lap time trials and they are quite tricky since you do need to compile a very competent lap and I am having a bad habit of doing well at the start of the lap and then bottling it at the end but it isn't too challenging with enough trial and error. So far, we are 4 out of 16 down with the next one being S-5 which is 1 lap of Seattle in a Ford GT.
For my brother, to quickly run down what he had done, he completed the first two missions in Hitman 2 although the first one was basically a tutorial level. He also started another randomizer, this time Radiant Dawn, and as expected it has been interesting. For some highlights, carrying the Dawn Brigade is Pegasus Micaiah, Halberdier Sothe, Axe General Zihark, Swordmaster Illyana before she left and is doing alright with the Greil Mercs in Part 3 and Cat Volug despite his horrible gauge for 3-6. For Part 2, the only good units I remember are Lucia who is the only mage we have seen so far, Heather who is Ike's class and she is also doing very well in Part 3 and Makalov who is the only Dracoknight we have seen so far. Haar has been nerfed to being a Rogue, the same class as Jill as funny as that sounds, but at least he can steal things and has solid stats despite his class. Part 3 started off rough as the Greil Mercs weren't looking so hot as most of them are in worse classes than their base ones except for Shinon who is a Halberdier, Gatrie who was a Falconknight maybe Mist and Rhys who are both Paladins, blade for Mist and axe for Rhys. Titania was also the first staff unit we have seen in the playthrough as she was in Mist's class. One of the worst parts was that all of Soren, Boyd and Mia were Generals since that low movement can be problematic. Brom and Nephenee were also Generals too. At least, Mia has been making up for that since all of her combat stats are strong and she capped her relevent stats very quick so she got to third tier first as well. Next map will be 3-7 so we will see how the Greil Mercs take on the Dawn Brigade.

@@BerserkerRohan Certainly a lot more brutal at least.
That it is, even if it makes this fight more brutal.
Again, damn you mistranslations for making me think "Null Sleep" is a null skill in this game.
The different strategies is perfectly fine, but it's just a shame that one of the more stand out features of DDS's combat, the elemental shields, aren't allowed.
Which despite how mean it sounds, is appreciated in an odd sense since at least those don't drag the fight out like Demi getting fully healed from a Recarmdra.
The Velvet Attendants do seem a lot more fair with the only consistent issue is many also being NG+ locked like Demi. Also Elizabeth also sounds very annoying to set up for, especially in older versions of P3 where you being allowed to pick skills that are passed down wasn't a common thing yet.
My complaints aside, the fight is still cool as it's always fun facing previous protagonists.
For me like I talked about during the Varin fight, was someone hacking his Hunger skill onto themselves and then using it on Demi to slowly destroy himself.
Neither can I and I'll be looking forward to what you'll find there.
      Many thanks.
Me too, just a matter of waiting for a chance to find a printer that I can use to make the label. Anyway, thanks for reading my review for Vengeance. Was a day late on replying back on that site, but I still appreciate it regardless. And once again, if you do play Vengeance after playing through all of those other games, hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for that too and it'll be fun talking about it as well. Also yeah, they fixed fishing after the Sky games from what I've heard and the "tap, tap, pause, repeat" trick Klingy learned about from The 3rd LP also works like a charm here. The only real difficulty with fishing in this game is finding/going to each fishing spot for specific fish as well as getting the bait you need since most of it you need to farm off monsters.
I can understand the hesitation of the idea. It is an open spot to find it, but maybe not the best. If you're able to, I'd try to do some research with how other YTers handle links like that. Perhaps you can learn what you be the best way for you to put the link out in a comfortable manner from them. That's the best advice I can really offer since I don't know much on the field myself. Hopefully you'll find the best way to handle that soon.
Saw that as well. Best of luck with Black & White. I'll try and watch that when I can, but I want to catch up on Paper Mario since in addition to giving you more support, if I can watch that and motivate myself to finish the game, that might give me an excuse to do something later this year.
Great work surviving more of those absurd Endurance Races in GT4. Hope that the lap time trials go better for you; I can relate too well of getting a good start on stuff to only consistently fumble near the end. At least you're 25% of the way there with them, but still hoping for the best regardless.
Glad that your brother is continuing to enjoy Hitman.
Also funny time with that give my one -egoistical and annoying lol- associate just finished their run of RD randomized. Also funny, but uncanny with the odds are similar randomization results, especially with Haar becoming a rouge, the GMs being a lot weaker than usual, and an overabundance of armor knights. At least your brother has a bit more class variety, so that's good at least. Plus he's already made some great progress by being halfway through Part 3 already, so best of luck to him as I'll be rooting for him more than my associate.

@@jaredfayette2567 To be fair, it is kind of a hard skill to translate since something like Sleep Walk sounds a bit vague too.
They would eat up his press turns and maybe make the fight to easy.
I was able to make a good Orpheus Telos for that fight but I didn't have any Infinity fusion items to make myself invincible to their Megidolaon so I couldn't win.
This fight is probably why he came back in SMT V.
      Hunger is pretty funny too.
Considering I did enjoy the original, I am sure I will enjoy going through the Canon of Vengeance as well and it will be fun to share my tales of that when I do. I am also looking forward to the Command Mission review to learn more about it as well from someone who really enjoys it.
I actually forgot about that trick so maybe would have been nice to know but things weren't too painful on my end. The main annoyance was grinding for some of the bait as well since you can save if you run out.
That sounds like the best approach. Once I learn anything, I will share my findings with a community post.
Thanks so much for the support and hopefully Paper Mario will be fun to watch.
"Only" 72 hours worth of endurance races to go now.
Being patient is a big virtue for the S License since if you keep hacking away, eventually that clean run will come up.
He was thinking of doing a vanilla RD run before deciding on the randomizer which was interesting.
My brother set armours as less likely to show up and then six decided to show up so far.

The infamous Superboss has arrived. And I do not have anything to say as this video speaks all the words I can ever want to say.
I don’t know if this or vanilla V’s Demi-Fiend is the hardest Superboss. Because with both of those fights you need specific strategies to effectively cheese these fights. Vengeance if you plan to fight him normally isn’t as bad but still brutal.
Just because there is a strategy that gives a high chance of victory does not make a fight easy. Like seriously I have people claiming SMT V Vengeance Satan is easy because there is a way to one turn him. Like yeah that exists. But can you do it the way it was intended? No? Then yeah it is still a brutal fight. And is why I say this fight is definitely harder than the Super Boss of DDS 2 at least with him you can make a billion different strats and about half can work. And also the fact you go beat the DDS 2 Superboss while below level 99 also helps with my thoughts on it not being harder than Demi-Fiend. Still is a brutal fight though I am not undermining it as it is probably in the top five hardest bosses SMT has made. Like probably fourth which is still impressive
Now. Next in the story. Time for more questions

There were ways to cheese him in vanilla V from what I remember. That fight's also cool but very different to this one. He allows immunities, but he'll "check" any Demon switched in for physical immunities. He can see their innate immunities but not skills. (So I need to train up Fallen Abdiel for her Repel Phys and Essence)

I mean, Pokemon Gold/Silver did that with Red, although there were so many potential Pokemon teams you could use in Gen 1 that he hardly felt reflective of what you did then. You'd think this fight would be the same, since he's stuck with these 6 Demons, but he himself is... kinda how he tends to feel at the end of most Nocturne runs. Ok, I'm beginning to think Merciless difficulty in P5 Strikers isn't has hard as i thought it would be, or i my Personas have really good skills. My 2 main ones are Black Frost, all about freezing enemies and then using agneastra (is that how you spell that physical skill) for technical with freeze, and Jack-o'-lantern (personally think Pyro Jack is a better name) with Agidyne to burn and Phanta Rei for technical with burn. Both Personas have max magic and luck, so maybe that's why it's kinda easy for me? I am currently near the end of Natsume's Jail, haven't fought his Lock Keeper yet, and I only have one death which was in the initial infiltration of Alice's jail with Morgana and Ryuji (didn't see the 5 Pixies behind me about to use Zio).
