And here we have it, the classic SMT Hallway That Kills You (TM).
Anyway all aboard the Pain Train it's time for Seth. He's arguably easier in the Human Form only ruleset, because alot of his moves simply provoke counterattacks from your guns. Add this onto the Pass, Turn and Synchro rings, you get 4 highly damaging Twin Shot combos with Seraph and Argilla (your two strongest shooter) to dump like 2k damage into him every turn. It's almost sad. And on top of that, returning to the backline removes debuffs, so Desert Winds just means you're probably taking less damage now because of being Debilitated beforehand

I should have mentioned this last time but how about we talk about Pinaka and Nandaka. Pinaka is actually a celestial bow that Shiva uses. One story of when this was used was by one of Shiva's avatars: Tripurantaka where He used it to destroy the three cities of Tripura as they belonged to the king of the demonic danavas, Mayasura. It is also said that Rama broke this bow in order to marry his wife Sita. In SMT, this weapon is sometimes a spear like in the case of Persona 3 as it proves a great choice as a weapon for Ken despite being a bow in the mythology but in TMS, it was an actual bow. Nandaka is a sword that Lord Vishnu uses and one story where it was used was when Vishnu used it to slay the hundred arm Asura, Loha, and due to being slain by the Nandaka, the Asura fell to the earth and turned into iron. Vishnu would bless these body parts so that they can be employed for the manufacture of weapons on Earth. Nandaka is also said to represent knowledge and it is sometimes described as the destroyer of ignorance. In SMT, Nandaka happens to be Yosuke's ultimate weapon in Persona Q1 and Q2.
Seth happens to be my little brother's favourite demon in SMT which causes me to like using them too.

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy  3 дні тому +4

It's a bow, good to know. Why'd I keep thinking it was a spear? (I think in one Persona game, it is... oh right, yeah it is in Persona 3, you said it.)

12:43 ~ Skill Planner's thought process for Seth: "Let's give this Optional Boss a really powerful Almighty Physical skill with very high critical hit-rate with no way to reduce the damage received outside a Save-Transfer Ring from DDS1, but to make it "fair", it won't have perfect accuracy instead it will be 99% accuracy. Balance achieved, ship it."
15:08 ~ No weaknesses on any character will cause this.
20:47 ~ The 'Deploy' passive could be really useful here, since it makes the Deploy command and Withdraw command work the same way as the Pass command.
33:09 ~ Spiteful Force is a really interesting skill that works similarly to SMTV's Adversity. It has the potential to rival Fire Boost + Fire Amp Pyriphlegethon used on the Ultimate Optional Boss, and the Ultimate Optional Boss has a ways to quickly lower the Player's HP by 80%. The issue is the Ultimate Optional Boss resists Almighty, which greatly cuts down this skill's potency by half. From my limited testing at Level 99, at around ~20% HP, if Spiteful Force is used with Mind Charge at 99 Magic with -2 debuff and +3 buff, it will do around 1150 damage to the Ultimate Optional Boss.

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy  3 дні тому

12:43 It's nice that it CAN miss though, via buffing and debuffing. Imagine if it was like Vishnu's and was hard-coded to always hit. Yikes.
I wish you got Pain from Seth's Mantra, although that'd probably be too strong for Satan.
15:08 He seems to use it kinda rarely though.
20:47 Actually yeah, I had that on Heat too.
33:09 That's interesting, though from what I've seen Divine Light can do that much damage up to twice. (Though you only use that for the final burst of damage or you'll prompt Dekunda)

    • @yuzu7361
      @yuzu7361 3 дні тому

@@BigKlingy Actually, the first thought I had the first time unlocking Seth's Mantra was why did they not make Pain a learnable skill. It would be a cool reward for beating what is essentially the hardest optional boss the player can face on Normal Difficulty.
The player version would probably has power value similar to God's Slayer and accuracy stats similar to Divine Light, and being Phys-Almighty, though not sure how useful this would be for the Ultimate Optional Boss, since Almighty's damage output is automatically halved.

I consider the Turn Ring as the same as the Crissaegrim in SotN. Busted as hell but you’ll need that power considering some of the threats you face.
I’m surprised Pain doesn’t have instant death to it like how Anima has it in FFX. Wouldn’t be surprising with how hard it would hit anyways.

In regards to the most recent community post at the time of the video, hope that means everything is okay now Klingy.
0:39- Man, having two million USD and only able to buy 25 gacha pulls. DDS2's world really is suffering from both the dystopian rule of Gacha AND Hyper Inflation.
0:43- The sudden FEH title screen theme got me good. Going off my earlier remark, this must be the time line of dystopian Gacha rule where FEH continues after the apocalypses and now skills have dedicated PAGES to them since simply scrolling down wasn't enough to contain all of the text by now. LMAO
0:49- Wow... That... Is both a relief it didn't take too much grinding AND also the most anti-climatic gacha session.
1:07- Of course... Of course... The ultimate reward for indulging in random RNG BS is a Ring entirely based on RNG BS.
3:58- Oh boy, this again... Can we at least use encounter rate reducing items to at least make this floor a bit more bearable?
6:02- Poor Heat. I hate to be rude, but is it just me or is he sadly REALLY performing badly for a secret character to get?
6:58- Although to be kind of fair to Nocturne, I don't think the game is AS brutally unfair as many claim for dungeon design. Now keep in mind that it's still hard and does become unfair when we factor in certain random encounters (any Beast/Dragon Eye Abuser or 2 stage debuff spammers), but actual dungeon design isn't really that brutal save for the Labyrinth of Amala and the final dungeon (and only for like the 50% to 85% portion of it).
12:11- *Sees that Seth has a move literally called Pain.* Ah, so that's why everyone was making jokes about pain last video.
14:31- Not going to lie, kind of funny seeing how the character flies away after getting hit by that. lol
14:59- Yeah, bosses that eject your party members out of the battle are absolute pricks. Devourer of Man traumatized that lesson into me long ago.
28:47- No, that sounds like Hollywood being lazy and just assuming any death related being is equivalent to the Devil. Again. If they aren't using giant CGI monster/villain as their big bad, it's probably a being being hand waved as the Devil as one of their lazy/over used secondary ideas. Blame those pricks instead.
32:37- I like "Root of Evil" a lot better. Not only is it less of a mouth full, but the Devil is pretty much that given everything he's done, so I like that translation.
33:58- That ring is in an awkward position. On one hand, making it come THIS late does suck and not many will get to experiment with such a cool ring, BUT on the other, if this ring came any earlier, not only would it be a game breaker that people would complain about, but also the devs would have to make a bunch of never miss moves to avoid it breaking the game, which would punish other strategies indirectly. I really like it, but it's hard to justify something like that coming in any earlier without it breaking game balance.
37:16- That sucks. On one hand that's expected, but on the other, that just makes this a sad 100% completion reward.
In other news, mostly MD grinding at the moment. The free pack from the Duel Trials ended up being a bust, but it did get me some gems. Admittedly some less ideal spending to get the Hallo Ween bundle since the decorations gave me some extra means of decorating my deck boxes. However in that pack gave me a tech card I needed for Voiceless Voice, Pendulumgraph Dragon. With that obtained and crafting a few only three more URs, I finally made my VV deck go from "passable" to more or less full power. Same as before for the most part, but with the UR points I used, the deck now has... A Third Diviner of the Herald (really should of had three before as a part of the core, but now that's fixed and empowers most ritual decks I could make later), and then a second Nadir's Servant and a copy of Garuda so I can now run a Dogmatika Package with the deck. Going the usual route of it for this deck (the two Nadir's, Maximus, and a few ED cards that give draw power for when they hit the grave), but I am running a few Ecclesias and Fleurdelis to branch off on my own a tiny bit even if it means I'm at at 47 card deck. Going to be using this deck for my grinding up the pass. Currently at 60/100 and only have 23 or so days left to max it out. Going to be working on that and probably Command Missions's super boss before doing something else during the wait for Brothership.

Very fitting for what the state of the world is in DDS if the gacha costs that much.
Not gonna lie, the FEH music triggered a fight or flight response in me.
It is an interesting ring but very much outclassed by the permanent one extra turn.
Estoma would help a good amount here.
Heat's bad luck in real life has split over to here as well.
I feel Nocturne is somewhat balanced in terms of SMT dungeon fare since most games in this series do have that an example of one or two painful dungeons to explore.
With Seth being my brother's favourite demon in the series, it would be funny to see his reaction to Pain.
Ruby Weapon is the name that comes to mind for that gimmick.
Seth does seem nuanced enough to not just be the devil.
At least it will make grinding easier but items that tend to make you immune to everything but almighty tend to have limited uses in other SMT games since the super bosses tend to kill you if you have something like that equipped.
Good to hear that you got some useful cards at your disposable and hopefully that will make grinding up the next pass easier as well.
As for myself, just continuing to record Thracia and make more progress with Persona 2. For the later, I did beat the big Caracol dungeon which means a new party member and some ultimate Personas to make use of. I have also been doing a good amount of prep work for the next section of the game thanks to summoning many new Personas that need to be ranked up as well as well as gathering some rumours from some of the demons.
My brother did end up beating Claire A with his Resident Evil 2 remake playthrough and that was a fun ride to watch. After some time, he will probably come back and try Leon B as well. Recently, with one of his friends, he also beat Elizabeth in Reload but with no Orpheus Telos and regarded that as a very painful experience due to the amount of time he needed to prep and the hard work he needed to do to keep track of how the fight is going as well.

@@BerserkerRohan Also going to be honest, that was more or less me. I guess more accurately in the middle as I went "WTF?!" [Flight response] as I got up and more attentive [Fight].
Yeah the Variable Ring is outclassed, but I get it's more supposed to be a silly thing to try out.
That's sadly true for Heat; Hopefully be the time of the game's ending his next life goes much more smoothly.
For the most part, while there's some infamous stuff and an occasionally annoying dungeon here and there, Nocturne's brutality in dungeon design seems pretty chill compared to the more intense stuff SMT has to offer.
Yeah I'd imagine that being an interesting reaction seeing your favorite SMT demon get a semi-prominent role as a super boss only for them to utterly trounce you.
Oh yeah, I barely recall one of FF7's super bosses having that as a gimmick of sorts and forces a 1v1. Thought it was just the two others were knocked out, didn't realize it went that far too.
At the very least, Seth's origins seem a lot more complicated and less clear cut due to years of history being unclear about them, at least compared to the Devil who's always clearly been evil and only got more -delusional- romanticized relatively recently.
That's true about the grinding at least like how you and others pointed out. Especially if this works like some of the Persona games where only one party member being out means they get all of the EXP from one fight, which would certainly help power leveling each member here if the threat of death is basically zero. At the very least, I respect how the Super Boss here only nullifies that ring's ability instead of instant killing us for merely thinking about cheesing it.
Many thanks. And hopefully the pass grinding won't be too bad since if I make sure to at least go up two notches a day, I'll be there in no time with a few days to spare, and that's not even factoring in the time spent on whatever November's Festival will be like.
And well done on your end with Thracia and P2. While I haven't gotten a chance to see those videos, I have noticed a lot of boss videos popping to show your progress, including today's video that features an important character of P2 I've occasionally heard some talk about. Best of luck with all of the prep work for what comes next.
Good work on your brother beating Claire A route. Also congrats to his friend for beating Elizabeth in what sounded like one of the most brutal ways to do so.

Heat does deserve a lot better considering how terrible his life has been ever since the real world Serph happened.
I haven't seen a full playthrough of Nocturne yet but I think I agree with that sentiment.
Also, Pain is a very funny attack name.
Whirlsand is very annoying to deal with if you don't know how it works.
That is probably a good way of tackling it since that one character can also devour all of the enemies for massive amounts of AP.
That is good to hear. Hope your luck continues to go well.
I am also enjoying the plot as well so it will be fun to talk about later.
My brother put in most of the work for Elizabeth since he planned everything out for it and I think that went for most of the playthrough as well.

Wait till you see this floor in Nocturne. While you do have a random encounter radar, the encounters in the hallway are like 20 levels higher than that point in the game, just to rub it in. If you put it off until after Beelzebub, the damage floor is gone. But if you make it through the hallway while it's still cursed, you get 200000 macca, which is a LOT if you grab it mid-game.

So the master ring does make grinding for the final superboss a bit easier. If you set a character up with it, a strong hunt skill, the atma bonus skills, ingest mana, diarahan, and quick escape and set auto battle to previous action, you can have that character solo fights with auto battle on against anything which lacks almighty skills (most of the enemies in the sun) and not have to worry about enemy resists since nothing resists or nulls hunt at this point. Just have diarahan ready for when you need it and quick escape for running from Parvati and Narasimha and it makes the grind a bit faster and less tedious. Ingest mana or its upgrade can take care of any MP issues you get from diarahan use. Though you might want to consider fatal hunt skills for low strength characters to make theur grinds easier.

36:53 You can't even use the master ring against Jack Frost because you need to beat him to get the pass ring. It makes the master ring feel more like a slap in the face for something so worthless to be locked behind, not only gambling boxes, getting 100 questions right from an enemy who is really rare to find and beating 3 superbosses. just to get a ring that you will never use because random encounters at this point are stupidly easy. The only thing that could have made it worse is if you had perfect an omoikane encounter.

0:33 Seth is a superboss? Huh? Neat
0:51 That's gacha for ya. My first experience with gachas that I enjoyed was the mobile Pokémon masters. The third anniversary for this game rocked even though I had to roll 10 pulls 10 times to get Ash he was so fun to use that I was happier than ever also his events were great and his battle theme in that game is sick as fuck
1:05 Randomness+ SMT always equals disaster doesn't matter what game it is. Yes kamui miracle, oracle and lost world from strange journey I'm looking at you.
3:54 Well he does represent gluttony so he's probably thirsty for blood or something and shoves this gimmick in a couple of rooms to satisfy himself and unfortunately this part of the dungeon is one of those rooms
8:42 So the SMT version of the move roar or its trainer battle effect at least.
12:48 Okay the fact that its just called pain is hilarious to me.
13:20 So his own version of roar that halves your hp and a strong almighty move that works like flail wonderful.
19:28 You said that exact thing a few minutes ago
    31:29 Wow that was rough
    33:41 Wow that's good
    35:15 Omnipotent orb? Really?

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy  3 дні тому

0:33 Yeah, it's cool to see him in bigger roles, his design is neat.
0:51 In FE Heroes, sometimes I spend over 200 orbs and get junk, sometimes I get who I want within two pulls.
8:42 Roar + Endeavour, kinda. (Setting your HP to a specific number) At least it's not Final Fantasy X Eject status, which boots the character out for the rest of the fight, with no cure.
12:48 Whoever named this move is a genius.
      13:20 Almighty Magic Flail. Yep.
35:15 Pretty much. And as always, it's useless against the ultimate boss.

Golden Box.. Yep. Ooh. New Karma Ring.. I see.
This place.. Oh that's... Bad. Half your healths.. Must be a tough one..
    Fail Channels? Oh.. Oof.
Seth.. Yeah.. He must be a hidden superboss boss & must been at SMTII in reference as a Solar Data.. Odd. Could also be a Mandala System effect.. Very strange.. A lot stronger than his counterparts which he's mainly Death.. (Pain.. Eesh.) At the very least he managed to beat him.
    New Mantra.. Good Heat. Cool.
All Karma Rings that R collected now to the Creator.. ?? Whoa. That's very good.
Oh? From the earlier fight against Vishnu & Shiva.. Right.
Next video? Hmm... Next time. The final fight.. (This is it..)

If Satan wasn’t what he was in this game or what Demifiend was in the first Digital Devil Saga, I’d call this cruel. But compared to the super bosses that Atlus sees fit to punish us with in today’s environment, it makes it seem like nothing has ever changed. I still kind of like it though, even while being an SMTII callback. The pain… oh the exquisite pain..!!

Atlus has always loved sadistic superbosses. I'm looking forward to fighting Metaphor's. (Which is sadly NG+ only, from what I hear) I love how they went meta with Jack Frost in DDS2.

3:26 Reminds me of Persona Q's spike tiles.
6:20 SMT has some really sadistic superbosses, but taking this much damage just from a few steps? Not cool!
14:44 Very fitting, but where is this line from?
32:51 I don't know what's worse: Death Flies or Spawn.
36:35 I'm pretty sure that's new footage for us.

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy  3 дні тому +1

3:26 Yeah, except those are for MP.
6:20 Nocturne's is very sadistic because you CAN remove the damaging floor from that hallway, but if you do you miss out on a massive amount of money.
      14:44 Naruto.
32:51 Personally I think the Spawn skill from DS1 is worse, since it not only instantly kills you, it also spawns an enemy.

I'd probably say that at least the ultimate ring could be used to make grinding easier for the superboss. Just slap the ring on someone and then put them in fight after fight against every enemy you come across. No need to think about healing or going back to the save point.

Ah Seth. I think this is one of few if the only time he is a Superboss in these games. Anyways he is just annoying and not that bad. Especially if you’re sufficiently levelled. Honestly I keep forgetting he is a Superboss.
The Master Ring. Or as I call it. ‘The Grind to level 99 with this character ring for the ultimate superboss, or get all mantras ring’ as that is literally all I used it for. I mean. Why should I worry about failing to eat foes with hunt skills if I take no damage? I can max mantras while I level up. It is boring but still.
Now. Are we ready to be judged? Are we ready to see a reference to something most players outside Japan don’t know? Are we ready to dance crazily!? Okay maybe not that last one. But this guy. He ain’t gonna make it easy. He never does. *looks at SMT V Vengeance* I will be back to not cheese you pal I promise.

An unmappable room with dead ends that halves your health every few steps and still contains random encounters. Clearly somebody at Atlus thought they were funny.
I think Seth has a cool design as far as relatively standard dragons go but it's funny that you should mention giving him the Kaiba voice because he also always struck me as very...
"Yu-Gi-Oh looking" if that makes any sense. Something about his head and body maybe?

    • @jaredfayette2567

For Seth's design, the Yugioh vibes make sense as it's VERY easy to compare him to another iconic dragon from Yugioh with Red Eyes Black Dragon given how SMT Seth and it pull off the "simplistic, but very cool and iconic looking black dragon" look off incredibly well. And then of course there's the jokes of SMT's Samael looking like Slifer the Sky Dragon as well.

I wonder can the turn ring stack with the variable ring to give you 5 turns.

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy  3 дні тому

Possible. I'd have to try it out but I guess with both you'd get either 3, 4 or 5 turns (depending on if Variable gives its user 0, 1 or 2 turns), so only a 1/3 shot of getting less that using the Turn Ring alone. Maybe worth it?

@@B_A-tr Essentially the Variable ring gives its wearer either 0, 1 or 2 turn icons. So in a full party, you get 2, 3 or 4. The Turn Ring gives you its best effect guaranteed while having none of its drawbacks, so for the final gambling ring Variable is a let-down.
