In this video, I break down:
🔹 What they originally promised
🔹 Why missing this deadline is a big deal
🔹 Whether I still think FM25 is coming in March
🔹 What this silence could mean for the future of Football Manager

3 possible reasons why FM25 wasn’t announced:
1. They are in the midst of a tycoon takeover
2. SI is in negotiations to buy Crystal Palace
3. Miles has a bruised ankle.
Miles is probably throwing the water bottle. Broken promises explains the silence. Nobody in the FM world talks when that happens 😂
4. Missed a traning, having spotted leaving a nightclub
@OdaVing-d9i 😂 That makes me think of that football sim game where you're trying to train your players only most of them like to constantly wander off campus to the nightclub. I forget its name.

Update, 7th February 2025, FM25 is cancelled.
Well this video aged well.
It makes sense he was optimistic his job is on the line
SI better be having a board meeting and promosing to turn there form around in the next 5 matches
they prob just did because you can no longer buy fm25 on the xbox store. FM25 cancelation, sooner than you thought
@@josephp9141You were never able to pre-order for console so this is not confirmation of anything.
FM25 has just been offically cancelled . Statement released
The writing was on the wall really. They hit a wall and hopefully they can un-f it down the road. But I have my fear it will take time. How will all those who normally pre-purchase even dare to do it for FM26. This cancel will hit the company really bad and confidence is shaken.
The biggest concern is that they didn't give a detailed reason what is actually wrong. That is weird.
Only thing he got right was the thumbnail
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. Doesn’t mean I’m happy about the situation
Obviously there isn't any malice (what do they gain by acting like this? ) but cmon, they don't even have time to make a post in 2 seconds (even just a wall of text) to explain what's happening? Really? I also hope that Miles is not really on vacation and what i read where just people making jokes, cause if that's true that dude has to go IMMEDIATELY
It's usually stupidity that closes studios. Not malice.
It's not malice, but ghosting the whole community and breaking your own promises without as much as an apology is definitely disrespectful and an intentional choice. So I am extremely disappointed in them.
Hanlon's Razor, my favourite!
Why wouldn't there be? It's a company, not your friend.
You took 16 minutes to say what it could've taken 20 seconds to say.
I'm hearing a lot of "probably" and "I think" - it still doesn't explain why they didn't release some update comms by the end of January - even if it was just a "be patient, we're nearly there with more details" message. Radio silence does not inspire confidence
Let's be honest, if they came out with that , every creator and fan would be moaning saying it's not good enough . Everyone just needs to chill out I think
I mean, legally not being able to is a very valid explanation. Don’t know if it’s true, but it’s a potential explanation
@ What legal mechanism would stop them from speaking in general terms such as: Please be patient, we are almost ready
Unless you expect kev to be miles, dunno what else you expect him to be like?

I wrote this fm off about 6 months ago. I just accepted i will be playing FM 24 until they bring a good product out again. Ive not looked at any updates, or rumours. I've just forgot fm25 even exists and i swear its helped loads lol.
Ok. So you go into denail. If your mum died your way of coping would just be denial? Ask any therapist about that and they'd be sorry for you.

@@Inveist You've just brought this guys mum into a video game conversation. I can promise you when someone in my life dies, I react very differently to when FM was delayed
Even Activision as scummy as they are at least give vague legal doublespeak statements whenever something goes horribly wrong in COD. Missing your own imposed deadline is wild.
Let s not praise Activision too hard, took them literally 4 years before they came out with the SBMM blog post but once they said they are talking about it yeah it did come, then again I remember waiting a while for that too
I'm sorry, but your theory isn't any more true than the theory that the game is simply not ready, and will probably not be ready for March release.
The main issue here in any case, is the lack of communication.
Whether it's licensing, a last minute issue, or simply development not going according to plan, ALL THEY HAD TO DO IS WRITE A SIMPLE STATEMENT. Instead they left everyone in the dark, to speculate and come up with all sorts of theories, and really to get absolutely pissed off at SI.
Obviously everyone is going to think the game is not ready yet, and they have nothing to show.
All they had to do to avoid this massive fallout is to just write a simple statement, telling us that either;
A: "Development is going according to plan, we just need some more time before we can showcase some gameplay."
B: "We are on track to release the game in March, we had a last minute issue come up, so we will have to delay the showcase for a bit longer."
But if that was the case, they would've told us. Surely they're not THAT BAD at communicating with their audience.
More likely is the third option, which is why everyone is so pissed off. But you'll never see them write such statement, because frankly, it would cause even more uproar.
C: "Development hasn't been going according to the plan, we have ran into several issues and we are unsure if the game will be ready by March."
The reason why they didn't come up with any statements, is because they don't know when or IF the game will even release at this stage. They're looking for solutions with SEGA, so that they can either give us an FM24 update, while they work on what will now be FM26, or to further delay the release.
So which is more likely?
Option 1: Where the game is ready, and development has been going according to the plan, THEY ARE JUST SO ABSOLUTELY AWFUL AT COMMUNICATION, that they cause an outrage in the community, allowing for all kinds of theories about the state of the game and studio, *WHILE THEY ARE ON A TRACK TO RELEASE A WORKING PRODUCT IN MARCH.*
Orrrr
Option 2: Where the game isn't ready, and they just don't know when it will be, where they might be looking at further delays, where they need to ask SEGA, and other license holders for more time, or in worst case for complete cancelation of FM25. Which is why they precisely cannot let us know anything, because they themselves don't have the answers yet.
Your theory could very well be true but if it has to do with licensing, what is stopping them from releasing a short statement along the lines of: ''Hey sorry we are running into some issues, no worries its all ready but please be patient for a little longer :)''
Their lack of communication does not make it likely that the issue is completely out of their control in my opinion. Why not be transparant if you have nothing to hide/ be ashamed of?
They may be legally blocked from communicating.
@ What would legally stop them from speaking in general terms?
@@MV-wn6kc They might have clauses in their contracts preventing that. I can take my own job as an example. Sometimes, I have an answer well before I can "publicly" announce it because it needs confirmation/validation from somebody else. And if I even just hint at something regarding my current project, I could get sacked. And I don't work in PR, so I would not be surprised at all if it came from something like that.
@@TheCapitaineCarnage Thanks for providing an example. I guess I am still just wondering why a license holder would not want them to release a general statement like that (if that particular license holder is not even named in the statement). Everyone knew the gameplay reveal was coming up, it is a fact that it is now delayed. What is the harm in just briefly confirming it without going into detail?
I really doubt it’s a licensing issue. They’ve literally had 6 months to prepare and get sign off for a trailer. And if they left it to the last minute then that says a lot about the state of the game.
Even if it was a licensing issue, how could that possibly stop them from communicating anything? The licence holders don’t have that much power over the game.
I think it’s much more likely that they’re just not confident in the quality of the game and being able to meet the release date. Maybe they can’t 15:06 communicate anything until legalities with SEGA have been sorted.
We live in crazy times, maybe Trump has a grandson at Inter Miami and he has threatened sanctions if he doesn't start with a CA/PA of 200 (at least it has to be the highest in the game). Maybe Putin called right after and made the ultimate threat of war if Zenit St. Petersburg isn't allowed to play in the Champions League again. It's about soccer, not just money or power...😄
As someone who works in the industry and worked on games with many license holders. I doubt this theory very much as well. If it really is that then the production/publishing planning has been absolutely awful considering this has already been delayed for months.

Oh no! Officially Cancelled! I'm sorry Kevin!
If you didn't rely on FM and SI for your living you would have a very different opinion
It's a shame really
And what would that different opinion be?
less unpaid SI PR and more criticism of poor game development and public relations
He clearly states it's his view. What benefit is it to him to defend a product if he knows it's going to be rubbish or cancelled.
Producing a good, timely product gives him a reliable living, not the insecurity he likely faces at the moment.
FM creators need FM released more than other players do surely? if creating videos playing FM is their main income then they need it to keep people interested in their videos, other players just need it so that we have a new version to play in our spare time.
Whether the game is launched or not a failure to communicate is unforgivable. A 1 paragraph holding statement would have kept most people happy. It would have cost them nothing other than 5 mins of their time.
And the reaction would have been just as bad as it has been with silence.
Thank you for replying.
I know for certain that you & the other content creators would ever treat your followers this way - so why should we accept it from big business? It’s just not acceptable. @@no1raniuk854 I mean, when testers sign NDA's are they not allowed to say "hey, we have the game in testing, not able to say anything yet but make sure to stay tuned"? why would SI be legally forced to say absolutely nothing? You are right I have no clue how and why would SI not be able to say what you just wrote...
Well it's been Cancelled now
The most likely reason isn't legal, it is that they still haven't got their development in hand, and don't have a playable game. We have never seen any gameplay footage. Because there isn't any working gameplay.
I think it's that. I don't think the game play is ready either
Agreed. How could they get something legal wrong after 30 years of doing those legal things. Why would you suddenly get branding wrong after so many years of getting it spot on. You’d had to be an idiot or never worked in football to get the Champions League Anthem wrong, I know that’s only an example but come on! As far as I was aware the licensing was for kits & badges not likeness of players and stadiums. Anyway I hardly doubt it’s something to do with licensing with branding etc. I simply think it’s the game just isn’t working the way they want on Unity and there’s some problems with algorithms and how the games data talks to the engine and vice versa or whatever the gaming world jargon is for that.
The game is clearly playable as they had play tests from the 7th to 17th January in London for local FMFC members. How playable is another question entirely. Working in legal my suspicion is it’s a mixture between poor feedback on the play tests (probably bugs from switching to new engine), partners and stakeholders holding them up from a legal perspective as Kev alluded to which is holding up the actual reveal itself (which is ready to go) and marketing making a poor judgement call to not give any community update hoping that they could ride it out to next week.
@@tonyguyan9559you fundamentally misunderstand the point. It’s not that they messed up the song or the image of kits or something it’s that they might have to get trailers/content approved and the license holders haven’t had time to review and approve. Ordinarily they would have had everything sorted and ready for the usual release date but when the release got pushed the planning went out the window. Most office staff wouldn’t have returned to work till the 6th and could have had a back log in work. Marketing probably needed new trailers because they already released the ones they initially planned in November and next thing you know it’s Jan 31 and things haven’t been signed off.
@ no I didn’t misunderstood I think you misunderstood my point. My thoughts are hypothetical saying the legal stuff won’t be the problem and they’re waiting around for approval. You don’t give a deadline then miss it just cos someone somewhere hasn’t approved it yet. They’ve never missed it before over legal stuff before so why drop the ball now? They did miss a deadline once and that was when they switched from the text based game to the 2D match engine way back when (think it was still called Championship Manager). I didn’t say they messed up with the anthem I literally said I knew it was an example just a poor one. They’ve had that licence for what? Two years? So it’s not that as I know Kev is using it as an example. My thoughts are the game just isn’t ready as the engine and data algorithms are chatting to one another the way they want etc (there’s an interesting video about it a few months back about this how the game interacts with the Unity engine) maybe focus on that instead of guessing I misunderstood. My theory is not the legal stuff it’s the game itself. Even if they’re sitting on images or videos they still could had come out with a path of what’s in game etc but it’s been complete silence so that says to me they still have a broken game.
Videos like this are exactly why SI feel they can blatantly lie to their community repeatedly and everything will be fine. The lack of any backbone from fm content creators to even admit that the situation is slightly shitty is baffling to me.
Tell me you didn’t watch the video without telling me you didn’t watch the video
@@lollujo I watched the entire video. "Well its licensing/issues with partners probably" is no excuse for not releasing anything, maybe not the full marketing push sure but at least have the respect for your long-standing and loyal player base to tell them nothing is coming yet. At best, it is a horrible fuck up from upper management at SI and videos like this do nothing but carry water for the horrible manner in which they have handled this situation for going on close to half a year. Leaving the game open for preorder with no set date, no proof a game even exists is scummy behavior. The fact they feel they can make promises and not uphold them without any backlash is a problem. You, Zealand, Benjy, Tom etc. are effectively the voice of the community in many ways and the fact none of you are willing to even voice any of that discontent and just repeatedly say, in many words, it'll be fine is disappointing.
Watched the whole video but conveniently forgot the bit where I addressed the issue of them leaving pre-orders open. Magic.
@@lollujo You literally said it was fine as long as they released a game eventually. I'm saying it's scummy to leave them open, miss deadlines they themselves set, and sell a game that at this point is effectively vaporware. Magic.
He reckons the games coming out March 4th 🤣😭
Just got cancelled 😢
My conspiracy theory is they cannot get the game to a playable state and this will likely result in SEGA selling SI to recoup the huge cost of developing a game that is unplayable and expensive licencing that will go unused. This will almost certainly result in the end of Miles connection with SI, and therefore will be the end of SI as we know it. Hope I'm wrong..
I share similar view... Hope we're wrong
If the games delayed its delayed but the PR is absolutely terrible from SI. They say end of January you will hear something then post absolutely nothing. Why not come out and say further delays not just leave everyone in the dark.
I dont mind the game being late tbh,the lack of communication has been appaling and insane and is the type of behaviour to turn people away. A simple "Sorry,we're nearly there but not this week" would've been fine
But also maybe out of their control
@@lollujo Heya Lullujo. Love your content, and I think your video is an incredibly balanced and well thought out explanation of what is likely going on.
I personally don't mind the game being delayed - personally I wasn't going to buy FM25 already, as I figured I'd wait until the following year once they've ironed any bugs out.
But I seriously refuse to believe that it was 'out of their (SI or Sega's) control' to post a quick tweet clarifying that there wouldn't be an update as planned.
I 100% accept that alot of fans would have been mad and thrown their toys out of the pram regardless, but it does come across as incredibly incompetant to say you'll give an update in january....and january come and go with nothing.

Genuinely don’t believe any of the content creators anymore, you all always seem to be at the battle stations ready to defend the studio and game every step of the way. You always have a new excuse for why the game isn’t ready or why the communication is unacceptably bad. It’s sad that this is the route most of you are deciding to take, I certainly hope if your not on SI’s payroll this approach works out for you and your actually thinking before taking the other side of every argument genuine players present.
So you chose not to watch the video? Weird.
@ did you not just make a whole video presenting an excuse that is unfounded and solely made up by yourself…?
No, I didn’t. I offered a potential explanation, and offered a balanced perspective that was also critical of SI.
@@lollujo but you spoke a whole video as if it was factual blaming like 12 different things other than the actual company themselves. If your actual intention was a balanced approach I think you have really misunderstood how you come across with your tone and the things you say in videos.
Stop trying to find explanations the fact is they’re completely overwhelmed and it was a bad decision, they’re working since FM22.. Your just trying to find excuses for them although they lied to us
I don't know why, but I've got a feeling that FM25 is going to launch with the FM24 match engine and UI at a discounted price. Aside from the licensing, everything else (Unity, women's football, etc.) will be pushed back to November.
If you think the game is going ahead, why have a thumbnail saying cancelled? I Hate the clickbate 👍

Sports Interactive should be EMBARRASSED!!!
I’m sure they are!
The issue isn't that there may still be issues. Most people van understand the size of this project and the issues that come with it. Having radio silence from October is not acceptable though
Kev- I wish SI were lining my pockets.
Kev 5 minutes later- I've been working with SI for 15 years.
Working with and being paid by are 2 entirely different things.
@chriskerr9822 no they're not. Kev's full time job is a content creator. Without FM he would have never been able to do that. I understand why creators are hesitant to criticise SI but on this occasion it's deserved.
@thomaskemp4713 Kev is self employed. SI don't pay him (they would have when he was a researcher but not now as a self employed content creator).
He (and other creators) work in conjunction with SI, but SI don't pay him/them.
@@chriskerr9822 Content creators make money through advertising which depends on the views/likes their content gets. Kev has said himself he will be losing around 50k due to FM not being released in the normal cycle. So even though he might not work "for them" his work depends on them. Go back to my original point, they line his pockets. Which is why he and other creators aren't going to provide the criticism of SI that is required in this instance.
they sacrificed multiple decades of one of the best games ever risking it all to make fancy graphics for 12 year olds
Don’t buy it, there’s no announcement because they’re not ready to announce something and they think the current backlash is better for PR than coming out and saying the game still isn’t ready 6 weeks before ‘release’
If it was licensing they could absolutely come out and give a non specific holding update saying it’s coming.
I’m not trying to be negative but I’m becoming more and more sure that if the game comes out in March it’s going to be a shallow mess.
If they’ve got a whole launch campaign planned and ready to go, why derail that if they’re just going to be a day or two late starting it?
@ Do they have a whole launch campaign ready to go?
And who’s to say that it’s going to be a day or two? If it was a day or two then they could absolutely come out and say something to calm everyone down.
The fact that we know they’re very aware of the current outcry from the community and still refusing to communicate tells me that there is only bad news to communicate
@@lollujo So just say something vague, like "coming soon".
At least that way, the community knows they are alive and working on the game, and that the game might be actually coming out.
You keep defending SI in the comments, but your takes are so bad.
Like how do you even know it's going to be a day or two late? Unless you have insider info, you're just speculating, like the rest of us. Why is your theory more valid than anyone else's?
It's not just that, it's the fact that any of your replies are easily debunked, because they makes no sense. As I mentioned, they can always say something vague, so we know the game is either ready, or that they will come out with a full statement soon.
Either "coming soon", a teaser of sorts, if everything is going according to plan.
or
Just write "thank you everyone for their patience, blah blah, we will have more information for you soon, stay tuned" if there are problems/issues due to which they couldn't release gameplay footage when promised.
You don't have to be paid by SI to be a shill. Your income is directly tied to the product they develop. Maybe you are genuinely a type of guy who always gives the benefit of doubt to everyone, or maybe you really want to build your reputation in the eyes of SI as one of the "loyal" allies and content creators. Who knows. What I do know is that this video offers nothing but spin and speculation, and people should just patiently play other games and wait - we will find out what the next FM is like eventually.
The scenario where changing one thing leads to a pain in the arse afterwards; let's not forget this is a videogame and changing one thing can break 15 other things too
Having worked many years in project management I totally understand unforeseen delays can occur for a myriad of reasons. All of which is just part of the process. What is not part of the process is giving your clients the silent treatment - that is an absolute no no.
Agreed. Which is why I made this video suggesting a possible reason for why they might be silent.
@@lollujo There is 0 legal reason for them to be silent. They can literally say anything, they can be super vague, and they don't even have to mention the issues, the game or anything. Just a statement for the community, 2 sentences, that's it.
what a shame this situation has been. This game brings me so much joy not only to play but to watch streamers and their journeys with the game. Not to mention that people like lollujo and other FM content creators having their expected incomes pushed back severely. Hopefully with this situation FM25 releases in march and is still an enjoyable yet slightly hollow experience and FM26 releases on time during the normal window. So we can all go right from FM25 right to 26 without much of a lull
You would think Sega at least would have the PR sense to know this was something they needed to intervene on. You are likely correct about the issues involved but radio silence, as someone who does communications for a living (adjacent). Silence is not usually a good choice. Better than a bad statement but not by as much as some people think.
Yeah kev sure, marketing team did not know the development team was having troubles and schedule the release for November anyway.
That’s NOT how a tech company works, you cant be serious with that…
I fully agree with your point that SI Games are not trying to do anything bad on purpose. I think they're really just trying to do their best, and Miles has no idea that his PR skills are abysmal. I will never understand game companies that announce games years before they're even in a playable state. Miles should never have announced FM 25 before releasing FM 24 and he should never have announced the move to the Unity engine either. By now I'm genuinely surprised they haven't just cancelled the game, because everyone will be super skeptical about the quality of the game, when we know that they're scared to show us actual game footage just 1-2 months before release. Why release a game you know will sell really poorly and hurt your reputation and long term sales at the same time?
Writing a message to say we can show anything this week coming soon is not too much to ask
He needed to use FM25 as an excuse for FM23’s lacklustre feature set
well the Unity thing was Planned for 24 but they moved it back to 25 because of Covid and all that stuff the Idea that they move to Unity i basicly known for Years now so idk...
@@simplesimonhadapiebut why do you need that? Unless you are a content creator it doesn’t impact you
Nonsense, how can they put it out for FM to be pre-ordered and be off release date by 5 months? How can they say there will be news at the end of January then leave us all on read? You're coping hard.
If it does get released in March, anyone that buys it on day one, or preorders deserves what they get.

I appreciate the video. However, there is no illegality in providing an update on time. A competent company, would have multiple press releases ready for a multiple number of scenario's would they not? There is nothing illegal in a generic "We hoped to provide a more comprehensive update today. Rest assured we are still working to our last published deadline, and continue to work hand in hand with our stakeholders. We'll provide further information in due course." There is nothing illegal with that, no breach of confidences, no contract issues or libel etc etc.
I mean, I clearly said in the video the whole situation is likely explained by incompetence
@@lollujo Indeed, I refer to a number of replies you have given in the comments section, whereby you say an explanation and/or update can be given as soon as they legally can. An "update" or holding statement need breach no legality. In a perfect world, you'd think we as consumers would warrant the consideration of a communication. I merely think, and agree, it's incompetence. Which in of itself is the lesser of two evils. It hardly fills the fan base with confidence.
That being said and if it needs saying. We all on here appreciate the situation and having an onus or expectation to comment on something publicly like this, that affects you far more than us. I understand this has in some form a material affect on yourself as a downstream content creator. Taking the time and effort to put out a video, thank you. I think we'd all agree, as players of this game, now approaching 30 years in one guise or another. That as frustrating a situation this is for us, people like yourself who do so much to promote this product, more than anyone should have the courtesy of an update, no matter how sparse the content of that update would be.
I disagree. I think there's a real prospect of a further delay, or even cancellation of FM25. I don't see how "licensing" problems mean they can't, *at an absolute minimum*, get a blog post up with some screenshots of the game. I think the missed deadline for a gameplay reveal is likely because the game is in such an awful state.
How can they show screenshots of the game if they’re not allowed to show certain elements of it? You want big blurred out boxes on it? Which then immediately identify where the problem is.
@lollujo I can't imagine that there would be so many licensing issues that they couldn't find a single competition/team/player to show some screenshots from. It's a tough sell for me to believe the game is a) ready enough to show off gameplay and b) beset with so many licensing issues that it would be impossible to do so. Listen, I hope that FM25 comes out in March and is the best FM yet. But this missed deadline is giving off very bad vibes for the future of the game.
Well now im actually worried. I thought the silence from the major UA-camrs in the last couple of days was a sign something was going on, including an NDA. Now it seems as though it is just SI and SEGA not saying anything.
Sorry, but I'm not buying the licensing argument. This is not SI's first promotional video, so they will know what needs to be done in the legal department. Their first preview video even includes a Venezia FC logo, suggesting some form of clearance was done for them. They could also just not show a competition with licensing concerns - in FM20's gameplay preview, for example, they played as a Championship side.
If it was something minor, it would only be a small aberration to announce and admit it on social media, instead of letting the hype build to frenzied levels, only to be let down. They have a social media department who would have told them this.
The video or stream, however they intended to present it, also had to be planned in advance. If it was a video, the gameplay had to be ready so that it could be edited and cleared by management and legal. If it was a stream, a stage, script and guests would need to be prepared. In both cases SI could have teased more information ahead of time. They chose not to - or could not do so, possibly because the game wasn't ready.
Which is the angle I suspect is actually the case - if SI are unable and/or unwilling to show even a sliver of gameplay on the deadline they themselves set, then is there actually anything meaningful to show? Is the game about 95% complete for the initial release, which is probably where you want to be at this point (at a minimum)? If not - what percentage would need to be ready before gameplay could be showed (80%?) - because it suggests SI are below that?
Maybe SI do have something really good up their sleeve. I suspect not, but if they do, this has to be the worst promotional strategy to demonstrate it. Like, say, what Firaxis is doing with Civilization 7 - if you have something really good, you want to shout about it from the rooftops. Everything Firaxis is doing suggests they have made a game that they are proud of and can't wait for everyone to play it, even if there are some doubters (e.g. only 3 Ages) - and the key point is that it is ready. Gameplay previews, content creators involved, social media engaging with the community, and so on.
I am sorry but i am not buying the whole legal/departmental fairytale, it simply does not have a dragon in it. Anyone who has ever worked in any kind of product launch (I do) knows that all this is ironed out months ago. You seriously believe they waited up until Tuesday of their last week, of their own set deadline, to have licensors sign off on anything, let alone a gameplay reveal video? Come on man.. :(
I feel for all the content creators who are affected by this shameful mess, as they have opted to make a living out of this franchise. What the community needs though is not SI "lawyers" to defend the company, but people who voice facts and keep them accountable. And the fact is that 1 month before game release (if March 4th is really the beta/early access date), the only thing SI has to show for its product, for which preorders have been running for months already, are a bunch of 8 months' old "work in progress", visually bugged, SCREENSHOTS and 3 missed deadlines.
This is the fact i'm afraid.
How could they have a gameplay reveal ready months in advance? If they were capable of that, they wouldn’t have needed to delay the game…
@@lollujo I'm sorry maybe I did not get my point across very well due to me trying to keep my post as less of a wall of text as possible. Mind you English is not my native language so i will try to explain with the least amount of text possible. :)
When you are dealing with licensors, licensed logos etc you usually start the artwork phase based on keylines, tech validation and then eventually print proof creation for the usage of said logos on the actual product (in certain industries, but the premise is the roughly the same for v-games). This whole process starts way before the deadline and the draft print proofs are passed around for evaluation and signing off. By the way, they were talking about a gameplay reveal in Oct, i'm not sure if they meant it would be a video to be honest or even more screenshots! We don't know because they won't say!
My point is that if the whole legal mess/approvals was indeed responsible for the silent treatment, then whoever is the project manager is absolutely clueless for simple reasons:
1) If you come down to the last week of your own deadline and have nothing to show due to pending approvals/legal, you've done a terrible job following up on tasks and/or prioritization.
2) When you get to the D-1 timepoint and part of the presentation is not ready, you crop it out. You do not can the entire presentation. Especially when you have missed two deadlines already, your last visual update was months ago and you are dealing with a gaming audience and a publisher. Point is, if the gameplay reveal had issues and it was really a video, then you put out info in text, roadmap style, screenshots, whatever workaround really.
3) What you most certainly do not do, is stay silent and show nothing 1 month before release of the product when you have it up for (preorder) sale already.
I bet they’ve had the full game ready to go since October and have just been waiting on final approval from legal.. 🤣
Got some magic beans for sale if anyone else is interested
What gets me is that they should have sent some sort of update out saying due to a couple minor issues we're having to deal with, so therefore the gameplay footage will be released on this date like either the 4th or 6th Feb
No offense Lollujo, but I hear a lot of words, but not a lot of sense. SI had since November 2023 to produce this game, if not earlier and it's still being delayed one way or another
I offered a possible explanation. If you’ve already decided you’re not going to accept, there’s not a lot I can do to help you understand.
@ Exactly, I get the fact that Lollujo is making a living out of this, but this resembles Gary Neville defending the PGMOL after VAR controversy, which just doesn't do you any favours. Either way, you do you Lollujo, thought you might want to see how your comments are being interpreted by your fanbase and the FM fanbase in general.
This is why so many people get mistreated by people with more power over them. Oh it can't be intentional, but they made two steps when they should have made 10 you can't mistreat your fanbase two times before the release of a new game and expect it to do well. If they bring out the game in March and it isn't something special the fan base will probably be even more upset than they are now. The fact that lollujo is still coping despite himself being mistreated by them just means he is a whipping boy to them and will bounce on it to stay in their good graces despite being misled like the rest of us.
Yes or not, SEGA and FM team broke their promise. No trailers / gameplay / update at the end of Jan 25.. Im starting to lose trust
This video aged like milk then.
I have a bit of a game developer backgroundy working with license holders and I can't remember a single time where we had to delay a trailer because a license holder didn't sign off on it on time. These things are hashed out days if not weeks in advance. The trailer is done weeks before the date, exactly due to this reason, so you have time to confirm it with all license holders. If this turns out to be the actual reason then Sports Interactive is insanely insanely amateur, like they haven't worked with licensers for a day.
The trailer is already out there anyways. They released it for the original release date last year.
They are supposed to showcase us gameplay, or at least some clips or screenshots from the actual working game.
As if Netflix would be beta testing it saying you got a name wrong....
I appreciate your optimism, and hope that you're right.
Unfortunately I've been down this road once already when Konami turned PES into a free to play gatcha game. I hoped it would work out, i posted videos saying people were over reacting and to stay positive. It didn't go my way then, i hope it goes my way this time though!
This is a poor take. There is no way "everything is ready but some boxes weren't ticked."
The game is clearly just not ready to show and they're going to delay it again I guarantee. The simplest explanation is the game isnt ready. The most likely explanation is the game isn't ready. They bit off far more than they could chew with the unity switch & aiming for the 2024 release. Saying nothing and missing a date befause of come license thing is not why software is delayed.
But they should inform us costumers if they are delaying something.
Hmmm, even if your fantastical hypothesis about licenses and partners is true - that does not explain the silence. All it would take is a post from Miles to say its been delayed - he wouldn't even have to give a reason.
In the meantime Kev join the many of us that will be playing Kingdom come deliverance 2 when it releases on Monday
I’m waiting for Civ 7 on Thursday
@lollujo oh forgot that was out as well
The game is definitely playable as there was FMFC play tests in London from 7th -17th. It’s a question as to how playable.
We need more about this please. Where does this info come from ? Who was there ? What did it look like ? How playable was it ?
@@The79thElement Participants signed an NDA, so they're not allowed to say. All we know is that it happened.
If your theory is true, then clearly it's the Premier League referees upset that FM25's VAR is getting too many calls correct. 😂
I normally come to Kev to be my voice of reason regarding FM and I'm happy to see his usual positivity that the game will be releasing is still persisting. I'm not sure it totally explains the complete lack of any communication at all...but I'm willing to buy in and follow that it's just another speed bump and the game will appear in March as they announced.
In the absence of any real informed facts, this is called "click bait". 'nuf said
I’ve had hundreds of people ask for my take on the situation. Are you suggesting it would have been better for me to stay silent? Because lots of people seem pretty angry about silence at the moment.
@@lollujo I think everyone is very pleased with your content and thoughts. Look at the views on here. The issue appears to be your thumbnail. Perhaps there should at least have been a question mark at the end of the "Cancelled" ?
Reminds me back when FM 2014 was coming out on the ps vita. Was delayed until April 2015
Suddenly feel optimistic once again, cheers Kev 👍👍 cherry on the cake is if they did do a 4th of March release date i'm off work on the 5th of March for a UTD stadium tour + meal with my better half, then straight back down the m6 to jump on fm25 for the rest of the day 🤞🤞
Great atitude. We have decades of reasons to have faith in this studio, late or not, they will not release “junk”.
Mate you're just stating stupid stuff ... the majority of the players who play the game are already involved in business or life, you ain't the only one who's been in the rouage of business processes and 9-5 long roads etc. I mean come ooooon I've watched you for yeaaars and I fancy your videos but this one mate is a straight miss Sir - Don't take it bad please, it's normal you make 1000 videos at least 5 of them would be stupid for several reasons out of your hand (fatigue, focus, stress, etc.)
Cheers !
I think they should commit to a 2 year cycle with an update after a year.
Honestly why don't they release an update for £5-£10 if they need the money and finish this game for next season and call it FM26
Should the licenses not have been signed off when they started creating the game? I definitely think its something out with their control like licenses. I do think they could have even explained that though, told us what the issue was and when they expected the roadmap release with a caveat that it would depend on 3rd parties. We'll see how next week goes.
I'm hoping for the best and preparing for the worst
So, now’s the perfect time for a ‘Berate’ shout, huh? I really really upset with their lack of information and response.
We create a gofundme and create our own football manager!
There is absolutely no excuse for Miles to ghost the entire community like he / SI have.
Forget it mate it’s not happening. Massive mistake swapping engine, for some possibly slightly slicker menus, but at a horribly reduced set of features.
Truly, the phrase that pays is “If it ain’t broke..”
Can’t release any gameplay footage despite knowing how negatively that would be received to a playable game worth 40 pounds within weeks is a big ask.
Taking flak because they are going to release something fantastic... mhm, yeaaaah, suuureeee.
This was the MO for Superpower. They pushed the release because the game wasn't "quite ready yet", then they went radio silence. They released the game. It was a complete and utter disaster. They went silent again, just to announce the game will no longer be supported and steam had to refund people for the game. To this day that game is is still up for sale, 30$ I might add (having zero support or patches planned). And even when there are steam sales they are asking over 15$ for the game.
I really don't think corporations have anything else than money and profits on their mind in 2025. So yeah, they can definitely keep the game up for sale until the end of the fiscal year to have some financial benefits and then pull the plug and cancel it days before or even after the "official release date".
We'll play it in March? You'll play it in March. You can beta test the Unreal version for the rest of us who'll play FM26
How would they be working on two different builds? That's now how it works
@ZeonEons FM25 comes out in March, FM26 comes out in November
@@SamButler22 Yeah and before November we will be playing FM 25
@ thanks for beta testing for the rest of us 👍
@@SamButler22 The rest of us? You'll find players buying it as soon as it's released
I've played games long enough to know that this game will either ship in an extremely buggy state like Cyberpunk 2077 v 1.0 or an extremely buggy state like any Bethesda title
Much as this may or may not be true, 4th March release great news, but that's less than 4 weeks away and no news on state of game, the annual ceremony around feature reveals etc etc is pushing it incredibly tight as they'll want that done before the promised early access (expected in just 2 weeks if the 4th March release is true)
At first glance you know 30 years old fan, you started playing since CM1
Oh Kev, I feel for you, I really do. I hope, really hope, you are right. If you are, you are going to look like a genius and everyone will flock to you as a guru !! However... Speaking as a person who spent over 30 years working in IT and Marketing, I don't think going on a blackout is something they would do if it was just tweaks and licensing. At the very least they should have put out a countdown clock on social media to sometime next week. That would have shut everyone up and built excitement. My own personal take on this is that there is an unanticipated issue that can't be solved quickly. (I still strongly believe there will be a game at some point). If the problem was with Sports Interactive I think they would have told us. However, I think their hands might be tied because the issue is with another component they can't comment on. If this line of thought is correct, my best guess is it is with the Unity engine and they can't marry the two systems together. I don't know. I hope I am wrong, but that's my guess. I hope we get to find out what the problem was when they finally announce the game.
Kev you are just rambling here. Talking about Champions League music… come on! SI set a deadline for updates. We don’t need a fancy trailer, we just need updates, and they set the deadline. If there was issues with licensing (it’s not that…) then they could simply provide an update without them. It wouldn’t have been that difficult. You are just defending them blindly at this point.
They didn’t promise an update, they promised gameplay. If their gameplay trailer includes a licenced team or league (which of course it will, otherwise why pay for the licences) then they can’t show it without approval. It could very easily be this. If they come out with a full trailer tomorrow, then it definitely was a licensing issue. To me, it’s the best explanation of why they might be silent. And a lot more useful as a video than me just sitting there with a grumpy face on moaning that they are silent. Which we all already know.
Music departments in UEFA? They haven’t said a word for months despite thousands of people pre ordering the game. It’s disrespectful more than anything.
This is possibly the most pointless video I’ve ever watched. Click bait title and 15 minutes of ridiculous speculation and rumours lol.
You say it’s pointless, yet since Friday I’ve had literally hundreds of people ask for my take on the situation. This is easier than replying to every one of them individually
At very least, they could have made a statement about what the situation is.
Unless they couldn’t
