    I’m a first year grad student right now and y’all hit all the points. There was definitely points in undergrad that I felt maybe a professor didn’t have my best interest in mind, but in grad school they truly do want you to succeed and they have your best interest. They are way more supportive. Discussion boards are pointless (hehe). Love y’all’s videos and am sooo glad I found y’all!

    I'm a junior in a csd undergrad program, & I've been second guessing my choice with this major, and desire to become an SLP. I'm just worried that I won't get into grad school, and if I do I won't like it and will regret going into this field. After watching this episode though I think I'll just keep on with it, apply for grad schools next fall, and hope that it will all work out! Also this episode was a helpful insight, and gave encouraging information about graduate school . Just wanted to say thanks, really enjoy the pod :)

      Thank you so much for your comment! We’re so glad you found this episode helpful. 💕
      And we totally agree with you that in undergrad it can be hard to tell if you even are going to like being an SLP. If you’d like, you can try volunteering at a speech clinic or job shadowing an SLP. This helps to see if it’s even worth pursuing and can be added to your grad school applications 😊

    I am a senior CDS major at the U of O and found y’all while searching for grad school application information! I’m so curious if you applied to UO’s grad school and what your experience was since you went there as well!

      Yay! Go Ducks! I did apply to UO’s program. Unfortunately I did not get in, but it is a really competitive program! If you are applying I definitely would go to the writing center to get help with your essays and I would have your professors look over it! They will be more than happy to help you! They were really helpful when I went there, just make sure you set up a time well before the deadline to get help from your professors. I know some of them are on the admissions committee so they’ll get busy quick! Good luck! And enjoy the rest of your senior year! It was by far my favorite year there 🤍

    Love your videos! Not sure if you talked about this already but any advice on when to start applying for jobs in grad school? When to take the praxis? & The pay in each setting? I feel like pay especially doesn’t get touched on a lot and I know it depends on location. But any advice would be appreciated!

    1000% agree that the responses for discussion boards is dumb and busy work.

    I have one prerequisite left for my undergrad program, which is chemistry! Application opens in January and I’m so excited! I really hope I get in because nothing else interests me like speech path! I do have one question, when y’all were in undergrad, did you volunteer/ shadow a lot to put on your resume for grad school?

    • @PediatricSpeechPals
      @PediatricSpeechPals  Рік тому +1

      Hi! Yeah, we both did do a good amount of volunteer work! Melissa also had an internship and Haley job shadowed and had SLPA experience as well. 😊

      @@PediatricSpeechPals what was the schedule like for undergrad? Were you at school everyday for a few hours with two or three classes a day?
