Making Slammer a weaponizer may have worked better than Hasbro/Takara expected.
I mean he always was a tank that separated into towers you attach to Metroplex so being a partsformer just works off that so well!

One UA-camr has actually figured out that the torso piece can be used as a pretty sick shoulder armor (he upgraded Hound with 2 slammers). I've tried it with Shockwave and it looked really sick. I've even managed to use all his pieces as armor/weaponry.

Yep, i'm the person who reminded Perspective about the TC review, and I will forever be proud of that.
Anyway, although i'm still upset he wasn't a new Fossilizer, this is still pretty good, I guess i'll get him to pose him with Sixgun.
I've seen people combine this with Six Gun, and he looks pretty cool like that.

Another weird thing about the weaponizers. They're all titan accessories. I thought that was interesting. Cog, Brunt, Sixgun, and this are all best buds with the Titans. Neat.

The Modulators (aka Airwave, Ironworks, and their repaints) were based on Micromaster playsets. Tbh I usually don’t count them in with the Weaponizers outside of their play pattern for this and one other reason: instead of transforming from robot/vehicle/a bunch of weapons, the Modulators transform into robot/building/mostly some sort of armor and maybe a gun or two.
I could see him and Warpath being sort of the Gimli and Legolas of the Autobots, for sure. Though I feel Brawn needs to be somewhere in that mix. Maybe make it a trio of one-ups-manship in this universe?
But Brawn isn't a tiny tank with a cannon built into his body.
@@PerspectiveEnd Fair, was more including him tangentially as every time I think of Cybertronian dwarf barbarian/warrior types, I almost always go to him. Still, the image of Slammer and/or Brawn chucking Warpath into the face of someone like Scoprinok (smallest titan, not BW, though that would be funny in a different way) so he can use his chest canon and point blank for a takedown larger bots couldn't do DOES bring a smile to my face.
Though I would argue he is a tank of a kind, just by MMO style role rather than altmode.
Best use i've found for slammers torso is as a shoulder pad or a makeshift combiner wars join

I like Slammer despite his lack of character and ports but if you need a generic bot to build an army then he's the one to collect.
I like it too, and he could fill that generic role just as well if he had better ports and pegs.

I think Slammer is supposed to be white, since he turns into a tower for Metroplex's base mode. I do have G1 Metroplex, so the tan might be from the plastic yellowing over time.

You know what would have been cool, is if this has cross compatibility with metroplex like in the original. Like if he could have transformed into a tower that connected to metroplex, that would have been pretty cool.

You just flip out the waist part pointing straight up then plug the base of the tank barrel (the black not silver end) into either left or right thigh stump then here comes the hardest part you set the whole thing on the black helipad of metroplex base mode and done "tower" mode

Would it not have been cheaper to get it from, China, Japan, or the US at that point? The UK is about as far away from you as can be possible on earth.
@@PerspectiveEnd The store I got it from, Zavvi, has an Australian branch and they cut the shipping price down to like 10 bucks which is very reasonable. The con of that is that I have to wait 2 or 3 weeks for the figure to arrive, but it's still worth it.

Slammer can be easily retooled into a deluxe Megatron, with or without the weaponizer gimmick. They could do it twice with G1 and G2 colors.
I don't think that's possible without the Weaponizing gimmick, considering that this thing has to completely break down to transform. If you don't do that then there's no way to engineer the other mode with this particular design.
@@PerspectiveEnd well that’s fine, the original Megatron was basically a weaponizer with all that extra crap that could be cobbled into various cannons and such. Plus he was targetmaster as well, he’s all over the place.
Loose joints and connectors or not, I still had to have this guy to go with Warpath so he can BAM while he KAPOWS! 😄

I would love the other non-transforming G1 to get robot modes. Like I think a legacy core class roller could happen, but I don't think a single human on earth even as much as though about ultra Magnus jet chest, besides me. The turret in the trailor of hirodimas prime transforming would have been a nice way to add so much needed value to that figure, and well I can't think of anymore

Whelp. Not even done with the video and I APPRECIATE the doom references. I also appreciate the BFG Division music. Literally my favorite track from Doom. So much so I bought it. Played it once in my old car with a sub in my trunk. My car shut off because it was draining too much from the battery. I was turning onto the highway. Scary and unfortunately had to never play it again in my car😂
BFG Division is easily the Best song in Doom 2016 and is only Rivaled by The Only Thing They Fear Is You in Eternal.

I am sad the weaponsizers are going away, but I understand why. I mean they had so much possibility to display and added so much life to the line. I hope that those energon monster listings are weaponizers though because of focus on energon weapons in legacy.
Yeah. I wish they lived up to the potential of the idea a little more than most of them did, but they were a fun inclusion.
I just realized something, this could technically work as a chug Guzzle. I know he doesn’t really look like Guzzle from the comics, but I swear if you keep the barrel on the top of his back he looks so much like Guzzle that I can’t not see him as Guzzle anymore. Also, to tighten up the ab joint, there’s a screw on one side, while it’s still a little loose it definitely helps.
I see you didn’t mention the tower alt mode. Kind of understandable, as it literally just sits on top of a certain spot on Metroplex’s City mode for the most part and looks like a rather last minute addition.
Other than that, it looks like a pretty neat addition to a Metroplex display and has a pretty neat boxy design. Almost looks like something from the cartoon if you remove the extra greebled details on it.
I also didn't know how to do it. I assumed it was possible but i didn't look into it.

I did a ton of combinations with this and never thought of the chainsaw one (the one with the adapter parts), that's a dope combination I wish I had thought of. I really wish I got the rest of them (not the fossilizers)

I enjoyed your April Fools video. At least you put more thought into it than "My last UA-cam video!... April Fools!" Seems you and Patriot Prime Reviews were the only people who put some effort into it. If you haven't seen his SS86 Coronation Starscream review you should check it out. I bought this figure to finish my Metroplex collection and found myself enjoying this figure a lot. He's good for your War for Cybertron collection or just an over all fun figure.
Oh man those people who pull that No Effort "I'm Done" shit are the worst.
And yeah I do find him fun. If the weaponizing weren't so compromised by needing adaptors this would be a much heartier recommendation from me.

Well hopefully they are a little more consistent in the next iteration.
I respect Hasbro for trying something different. In a line slavishly devoted to G1, the weaponizers were new and different. Unfortunately I think that backfired. Instead of drawing fans out of the G1 cocoon it reinforced the G1 is the best one mindset.
The weaponizers remind me of Centurions crossed with Bionicle. The real downside is you need Lego style tolerances which is like Civil Engineering grade precision for plastic toys. Flopping around and loose joints plagued every iteration of weaponizers.
As for the weapons itself, I'd rather just use the Bionicle/Hero Factory weapons, than wait 10+ years of development. TF is at the Toa Nuva phase, at this rate it'll be another 5 years before they hit the Inika stage (Laser rods in G2).
How did they reinforce that notion?
I do wish more of the Weaponizers lived up to their idea. Like I think Sixgun is the only one who everything because something useful on.
WFC was quite literally the first time we got mainline figures that looked mostly G1 animation accurate though, and even then one leg of it was heavily centered on Beast Wars. Even the original 80s G1 toys typically looked nothing like their animation models. So I don't get how disgruntlement from non-G1 (or non-Beast Wars) fans can exist over this considering it's pretty much never been done before, excepting the Masterpiece line, which is 1) outside of many people's budgets and 2) will always have a much smaller scope because it serves a much more niche market.
WFC has been a considerable commercial success for Hasbro, because it drew lapsed fans back into collecting, precisely BECAUSE it was the first time we got so many screen accurate figures of G1 characters with modern engineering, or as you would put it because they were "slavishly devoted to G1". Yours truly being one of those formerly lapsed collectors. I really couldn't have cared less about 95 percent of the Prime Wars figures, or most of the Generations figures before it. I was aware of them, but didn't buy them. Not because I have a mindset that says G1 is "the best", but because G1 (and Beast Wars) are what I am personally interested in, and the previous Generations lines consisted overwhelmingly of figures that I have no real connection with because there was no screen accuracy. Call it a "G1 cocoon" that people should be "drawn out of", but I tend not to talk about other parts of the fandom that I'm not personally a part of as if they're a bad habit that needs to be dropped, and I think it's kind of a bad look when anyone does. It sounds kind of patronizing, and feels like sour grapes. Let people enjoy what they enjoy, be it G1, Beast Wars, Armada, Prime, RiD, IDW, Animated, or whatever it happens to be they enjoy. If they like all of those that's good for them, but there's also absolutely nothing wrong with only being interested in certain incarnations of the franchise. Nobody needs to be taken out of any supposed cocoon - which is reality is merely an attachment to a specific incarnation of the franchise. People don't need to be taught or conditioned for what they should or shouldn't enjoy when it comes to collecting toys.
And at the end of the day not everything has to reinvent the wheel, but while Hasbro were at it, they brought an experience that's in a way pretty similar to the Masterpiece experience (that is to say having figures that are generally more screen accurate than anything before it) and brought it to a mass market product, which is pretty revolutionary in itself. They pretty much gave me precisely the figures I've always wanted.

The whole "a few parts look like weapons and the others are just chunks of nothing" is my MAIN problem with weaponizers. Every time I try to weaponize a figure I wind up with half the parts on the back
Also, frankly I struggle to find a figure big enough and with the proper ports to weaponize and not look ridiculous
Yeah, I think the only Weaponizer where everything became something useful and cool was Six Gun. Everything else kind of falls hard.

I have two of these because I somehow forgot I had already pre-ordered it, and both of my copies are pretty loose.
When this came out and the packaging hinted at a new Metroplex coming I was so excited at the prospect of getting a new G1 Metroplex - especially since I really hated the lanky, awkward proportions on Thrilling 30 Metroplex, especially the weird mid-section, which actually has kind of the same problem Slammer has without his backpack on. :P Was really disappointed when it turned out to be Cybertron Metroplex, who, as far as I know never had a Slammer or Sixgun to begin with?
Yeah, I wish it was the Regular Metroplex. I know technically we just got one, but seriously the Cybertron one looks so lame.

I sorta think his head resembles a scramble city type combiner bots head, kinda doing something similar to Blastoff, vortex, brawl and many other of the face plated limb bots have going.

And yeah I was proud of that, I was going to give him the Doom Slayer's Helmet at the end but decided against it.
It's a Toss up between the Titans Return Blitzwing, or the MMC Brawl. Those are both Great tanks bringing something unique to the table.
Except the hip joints, my copy is toleranced greatly, so i guess i was lucky. And, i don't know, i sorta like the "innocent" look his head and proportions give off, it's such a contrast with what he basically is : a mf-ing elite commando. He feels just like a normal cybertronian, who didn't want to participate in war, but in the end, he had to.
And weaponising? i'd say it's on par with Paleotrex, perhaps slightly worse. The parts he's made off of look so functional, so in the end, stuff he becomes looks that way too. I've beefed up my Maximal Grimlock with him and man, it is glorious. You can also use the torso as a hammer, from certain angles and combined with certain parts.
I might get another one, because i feel that he has some great combiner predispositions.
Reminds me of the Third Carmine Brother from Gears.
I think it would be hard to make a combiner out of him what with the limited number of Pegs and Ports.

the rear canister not working is a big missed oportunity especially considering that TR harshell had a similar one on the front of his tank mode who worked really well.
but at the same time it was clear plastic.
My favorite -izer. I own 2 of these which is something I never do unless it’s a repaint. Use kiki’s joint stuff. It helps fix the issues
