Don't be dumb. The rest of the jobs will go,like all the last 6 decades. Befire Biden installed us steel was going 2 put an additional facility in pittsburgh.
Cleveland-Cliffs bid $10B in cash and asset swaps, so saying that the Nippon bid was twice the value of theirs is not true. For everyone unhappy about it, would YOU throw away $4B just to keep a small number of people employed and the already largest producer of flat steel in North America on top? Nippon makes quality steel. They've come a long way over the last 60 years, and those rusty Japanese cars you remember were no worse than the American malaise-era ones produced around the same time. How many of either are still on the road? Whichever plants they continue to operate will be highly automated, but they should be pretty stable. There is no guarantee that any one plant will be reopened or continue operations if they're buying the whole company. USS already dismantled the Lorain equipment, so it will more than likely get razed. Maybe they'll get a new Amazon distribution center and a Dollar General in its place.
@jeffracer6231 Really, go ride down Baumhart Rd. And get back to me. That is where the Lorain assembly plant used to be right? Not to be confused with the Avon plant.
I don't know what they could put down there but at least clean it up and make it available to be developed. Maybe a domed football stadium and complex 🤔 😁
Puerto Ricians aren't "immigrants workers". We are U.S. citizens.
Amen
When people complain about this yet critisize communism and “socialism” it makes me laugh.
And my soul cry
Alabama has the machinery from Lorain already.

Plus a Subway
Tear that thing down and build something else. They stripped all working equipment out if it already. Move on, steel and Ford are not coming back.
Ford is not coming back? I think you need to take a ride down north abbe and look at the billions of dollars Ford motor company is investing

What do you suggest, a fast food restaurant? The USA has no meaningful industrial base any more.

Passed by on my way to Cedar Point. I’m so sad to see what Lorain has become. So different from when I was growing up there.😢
