    People underestimate the 5.7's capabilities, especially in traffic. Traffic is the equalizer. The 5.7 is lighter and even with the giant wrap around push bumper on it and extra equipment and cargo, it still pulls and it's better on fuel than a 392. So many 392s run out of fuel in these chases and when thieves flee after stealing them.

    Even the charger 3.6 will hold its own, especially in traffic. It's way lighter and way better on fuel. It's more nimble handling too and easier to control. The pursuits are usually AWD for the most part too, so they grip the road like a glove.

  • @Maniac742
    @Maniac742 8 місяців тому +1

    If he had pulled over you're correct, the charges would probably be reckless driving, street racing, and a few others, but he stands a half-decent chance of pleading them down. By running, his odds of pleading those charges down is much smaller, he's added even more charges, and his car got fucked up when the pitted him. The ASP is known for flipping cars like real estate when they catch up to you. If you aren't 100% certain you can get away, I wouldn't bother.

    Sir, you are intelligent, articulate and you are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the type of car you are addressing. I take umbrage with your priorities in offering perspectives and counsel. You seem to feel that driving is an individual right and not a privilege; that the laws that govern the use of the road are secondary to the perceived needs of the individual. You addressed the pros and cons of street racing in terms of the outcomes of being caught and held accountable with only offhand remarks of the perils to every man, woman, child and infant innocently caught up in the ego of that driver and to an extent your own. The first lesson any person should learn before they sit in the driver’s seat is that a vehicle is a weapon that can terminate or destroy human lives. Perhaps you never learned that first lesson but I boldly suggest to you that the next time you use social media you keep this thought in your mind and choose your words carefully.

    A lot of folks underestimate the ability of the 5.7, even without the pursuit tuning, then here in Arkansas the ASP has it's vehicles shall we say "worked on" a little over and above the pursuit tune, and forget their Chargers, there are several videos floating around UA-cam of ASP Tahoes hitting 145 and 150 going after sport bikes and such. And if you are on I-40 about an hour East of Little Rock, you might find the chief of police in Hazen, AR joining in on the pursuit and he is running a "slightly modified" (most descriptive phrasing I have found so far, so not sure just how "slighty" it really is) Scat Pack as his cruiser. And a lot of folks buy Scat Packs/Hellcats/ZL1 Camaros or Shelby and Roush Mustangs and have never learned how to drive properly at 100mph, then they get lit up and start hitting 130-140-150 and realize they don't know the proper way to utilize not just the engine power, but that performance suspension, the steering and even the braking of it at those speeds and they start getting nervous, especially when the back end gets a little unexpectedly (to them anyway) loose on the off ramps because all they have ever done is donuts in an intersection and then it is game over, they are just a mouse to the barn cat.

    Them scatpacks can outrun the state troopers, them boys jus cant handle the car or power. If a Corvette can dust one, then a scat can! Even 5.0s or Camaros can, you jus gotta kno WHERE to get away and get make ya move mane!!

    Just to inform people the Police cruiser maybe an R/T but the engine is Nothing close to it!!!! The Police package has more options than a typical Scatpack or Hellcat!!!!!

    The thing that pissed me off about police is all of the BS loud screaming and cursing at people long after they’ve given up and called it quits. It’s unnecessary and most of the time leads to nothing but confusing commands that make no sense to anyone.

    The police need better cars. These 5.7 dodge chargers are pretty damn slow.
    Would've been great if they had the Chevy SS at least.

      The issue isn't the 5.7 it's the added equipment which is added weight to an already heavy car. 5.7s are solid engines

      The 5.7 is a solid engine and definitely underrated than the 392. I've had both and the 5.7 can be molded to your liking. The 392 is tapped out as far as what you can do to a certain point.

      Many cars are electrically limited to the 108-124 range, without tow n go even the R/T Durango is limited to 118, same with Rav4s

    Even if the trooper had a 3.6 V6 - radio goes a lot faster than any hemi V8 - one of the other troopers would have been ready and waiting. Even if this driver chose a side road - the heat these cars give off stands out like a sore thumb to any police helicopter using FLIR.. unless parked in a garage, etc. Also - the human factor - maybe the passenger in the Scatpack was getting scared and told the driver to slow down. Also, I think the right rear tire looked to be damaged in the video. Regardless - even if this was a Demon 170 - very dumb to be evading police with such a nice car.
