  • Thanks for watching, the Driveshaft holds 150CC of gear oil, don't forget to top it off after reassembly.

I happen to own that Bike in the video and was able to get out on a ride for the first time since purchasing it 3 weeks ago. Man does it ride sweet. The carb work that was also done has it running tip top. Tic over is consistent and strong and fueling is great through mid range and high revs. Nice work on this video you make it look easy and explain the job well.

Oben means up; Unten is down. So you are right. Greetings from Germany, Berlin. Berlin the home of BMW Motorrad. 😊

you don't have to remove the final drive from the swing arm . i even leave the wheel on and still able to remove the whole assembly without problem .

Regarding the swing arm, you should be holding the preload pin in place as you tighten the outer nut. Cut a "window" into the side of the socket so you can fit the Allen wrench inside it while tightening.

the inner stud wont spin, no need to hold it.

.@TheBMWGuy You did a lot of unnecessary work to replace the boot. Final drive does not need to be removed. Simply move the swing arm back a bit, remove the driveshaft bolts, replace boot and put back together.

are you suggesting its the boot which is causing the leak? seems to me its the gear box seal leaking the one that the boot is supposed to be protecting.or am I mistook? Apologies if I am

I thought it was the transmission oil that leaked through the output shaft oil seal

Yeah, where was the oil leaking from? It shouldn't have any oil in the drive shaft area, so it's either a faulty gearbox output seal, or a faulty final drive oil seal. In either case, it's not a simple clean up job to fix...

HI, I have two questions, how to restore and calibrate the carburetors on a 87 bmw r65.
And how to replace and install the cylinders and pistons of the same bike. Thank you

Do you not have to grease splines or add any final drive oil on these?

There are easier ways to do this job. Pulling the tire and final drive aren't part of them.
