You've probably figured this out by now but you can attach a length of bungie cord to the top of the motor and to the frame to assist in deploying the Xi3. Run it inside the coiled motor wires. Nice vid by the way! Picking up my new Outback tomorrow. Your vids were extremely helpful, thx.
@@losangelesbfs not yet but this weekend Im heading to Potholes Reservoir in WA to test it! One question......Did you find a better way to deploy the foot pedal or is your original method totally fine still? The method where you took the side plate off. Cheers
It’s not hard at all right? I did end up drilling into the metal bracket under the pedal and added a key ring but it’s really only for visual purposes. The function itself wasn’t improved. Cheers again man, I learnt a lot
I just spent 4 days fishing 12 hour days and only used the Xi3 on the first day. I am a big guy, 6"2 250lbs and the added weight almost sunk me. I was out in 3-5mph winds so it was calm. Water came through the drive bay and scupper holes, which then leaked into the hull through the 'waterproof' hatch. I had to drain my Outback twice, once on the bank and the other at the ramp. I was minutes away from sinking in a large open area of Potholes Reservoir in WA and was lucky the ramp wasn't any further away. Other issues were the coiled cables kept finding a way to get stuck in the area where the motor deploys and retracts so I couldn't properly set the motor in place when retracting. Also, I only got about 8 hours out of my LiTime 100ah trolling motor battery and I wasn't using it at top speed for any more than 1 hour in total. I had to paddle for the last 30 minutes to get back to shore. Potholes in summer is very weedy and I like to fish shallow which was impossible as the motor was constantly clogged up with weed and grass. I felt like my day was constantly filled with motor issues. I ditched it and fished Moses Lake for the other days and pulled some 5-6lbs Largies hassle free. In open water, for a smaller guy I guess this motor would be great but I'd need a PA12 or 14 to make use of this at my size. If anyone wants to buy a Motorguide xi3 and LiTIme battery used once in Vancouver BC or WA hit me up:) Not for me unfortunately. Your setup videos helped a lot though. Thanks again m8!
after owning the 2021 outback for two years i can conclude it's a great fishing platform in its simplest form. Its very stable in rough water/wake/chop/wind. BUT in my honest opinion in terms of what I like to do (just bass fish), this kayak starts to lose that appeal of being the ultimate sea/ocean handling kayak. The outback starts to feel bogged down and lacking the hull space needed for more mods. I fished my outback the other week just with the graph, pedal drive, and a tackle crate and wow did it feel light and maneuverable! If I could do it all over again I'd just go with a PROANGLER14 for more deckspace/room to add more mods. If youre fishing in the ocean, hands down I'd stick with the outback minus the weight of the xi3 and 100ah battery. Good luck brother
Nice content, just found your channel and will sub. I noticed u also have seat risers for the chair. With the weight of the motor, mount, and battery has sitting that high affected the balance and stability of the boat? Keep up the good work.
@@blopez468th Hey brotha sorry for the late reply didnt see notification. Thanks for the sub! Totally worth it! You might think a bow mount would bog down the front of the outback but it still handles chop really well. Spot lock and fish is game changing.
So many ProAngler setups on youtube, but I'm a Outback guy through and through. This setup is crazy congratulations! Questions for you : is that the regular xi3 or the shortened kayak version ? And do you feel like the front of the kayak is brought to low and close to the water because of the motor (heard that comment a lot around when Outback are geared out with a xi3) ?
hey thank you my fellow outback bro! haha yes the outback i feel is the perfect platform to fish from! This motorguide is the kayak version! 36” shaft i believe. And i feel like the front kayak is uneffected by the bow mount. i think my gear in the back and my body weight balances out the yak. ahhh bro im sorry! i said the wrong thing in the video. its actually from snipe air industries. its still there for 20$ under “kayak gear”! and thank you !
Nice setup! I have a 2019 Outback. I’m curious on what you think about the stability of the whole setup? Any big difference between with and without the motor? Also have you traveled through rougher wind conditions with it?
hey thank you brother! its definitely stable! i dont feel any difference with or without it. And Ive been through 20mph winds on a big lake with white capped swells, i would not recommend even without the motor. Overall its probably the best mod you can do if youre a fisherman!

Any issues with having that much weight on the bow of your Outback in rougher waters? I'm planning to add one to my Outback. I fish near shore is swells up to 3'. Nothing beyond that, my stomach can't take it.
