Quint's Revenge 2 - Robot Museum Preview

- The current status of Quint’s Revenge 2 is this: It’s on indefinite hiatus. This doesn’t mean it’s cancelled though, but i’ll explain my issues with the project as it stands below. Revolution's state is also explained below.
I can’t work with Fusion anymore. The program bugs the life out of me and attempting to get anything done in it takes much longer than it has any right to. Using other software such as Game Maker and Unity has really brought home to me just how crap Fusion is at its job. You can’t collaborate properly in it, tiling levels takes ages since it’s an object based tile system rather than... you know, tiles. There’s no parent objects, it has incredibly weird quirks, global code barely works, and you even need workarounds to initialize floats in objects. Simply put I don’t want to use it to make games anymore.
Work hasn’t totally stopped, I have continued to work on the graphical assets for QR2, as well as level plans and documents.
To that end - the current plan for QR2 is this: Once the MaGMML3 engine is in a stable state, I’ll “borrow” it, and start porting QR2 over to Game Maker and work on it there.
That’s why I state this level as shown in the video is a work in progress. Whilst I’m fairly happy with my Robot Master stages, this one probably could do with some work, and definitely needs its difficulty toning down. Shadow Man, Stone Man and Yokai Devil are monsters of bosses and for a stage with so many of them... it’s a tad much.
This all leaves me with the state of Mega Man Revolution.
I’ll need a video to itself to address the issues with this, but it has the same “Can’t stand the software anymore” and “I really miss collaborating with people” problem as QR2: compounded by the fact I’m forced to use an old version of Fusion because newer versions simply aren’t compatible with Revo’s source code.
All else I have to say about Revo is this: Don’t hype yourself up over it. It’s a reworking of a 10 year old fan game and if my work on MaGMML2 has hyped you up over it being this spectacular work - don’t. When-ever it releases, if your expectations are kept in check, you should still enjoy it, but it isn’t up to my current quality standards and I don’t have it in me to remake the game for a third time. I ain’t phoning it in or anything but... still. Keep it in check.
Last thing to address regarding my own vanishing from social networks and Discord - I’m doing better than I was... but this latest depression spiral hit me hard. The demons decided they wanted back in, and I’m still recovering as it’s been a shock to the system.
I won’t go into any details but I needed to drop everything for a while. Anyone who knows anymore of my past history will probably know exactly what’s been going on with my mental state. I’ve been seeking help. I still don’t know when I’ll rejoin Discord but hopefully it’ll be soon.

Yes. I'm intentionally being weird. For those wanting an explanation: The link is in the boss: Yokai Devil. Neko, Kistune and Tanuki the masks are supposed to resemble Japanese masks of Yokai.

I wouldn't say that the stage is too hard, I think a tough first fortress stage is a good way to make the player feel like he/she is truly being tested on their skills. Also, as soon as I heard that you were having a bad time with the Fusion coding, I knew that Revo was going to suffer as well, sad thing to hear. Nevertheless, I hope things get better somehow!
I love every weird thing about this level, especially the little umbrella yokai bots! Everything I've seen about this game is crazy creative!
It sucks that Revolution's such a slog to work with. I've been looking forward to seeing the new coat of paint you've put on it, but I absolutely understand the need to take care of yourself first. Even without the depression, you definitely deserve a break with all that you've put into these Mega Man fan games.
Hang in there, man. Depression is rough stuff :/ I'm glad that you're continuing to work and produce such cool things, but please don't overtax yourself or feel like you need to finish anything. Mental health is always the #1 priority. Good luck.

But in all seriousness, this is a fleshed out 10/10 for a Test.
The Mario Reference was also cool.
Now THAT is a Copy Robot / Weapons Archive done RIGHT! Same bosses you know and love, but made different enough that the strategy from the original doesn't quite carry over, but still can, as well as the guessing game of "who from the games is missing from the preceeding areas and is thus who we'll be fighting" is. Brilliant.
I absolutely love the karakasa Big Eyes! They have to be my favorite enemy in this so far, hands down.
Also, I know this was probably unintentional, but the way the head and giant ring of that Mega Fortress stands out makes it look like a Volcanion. I can't unsee that now.

This stage is so bizzare, especially with those hopping enemies with the tongues, and the robot masters with the cat masks. Good level design though.
Why do they even have cat masks to begin with?

Wow! This is a great stage! Specifically, I really like the section with those falling blocks from Mega Man IV, and those three Robot Masters are a pretty cool twist on Mega Man 1's boss rematches. Stone Man in particular, with those SMB3 sounds...I love it.

I've literally been lurking since the Asterix and the Great Rescue days - take care of yourself, man! Health is vital!
This level is an absolute GENIUS. If I had one criticism it would be the last section near the boss, instead of having that slow crawl to the top I'd suggest combining all of the gimmicks from the last mini sections as it would do a much better job of teaching the player how to avoid them. The foot holder does teach you how to use it, but the section is so short that it becomes pointless. Overall, I LOVE the concept of this level (yes I'm aware that I am 4 years late).
Also can we talk about how fucking horrifying that castle looks?

I happen to find this video after having recently beat Quint's Revenge. I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through. Seek out the help that you need and take as much time as possible. The stage was getting long enough as is, so Mercury and his segment got dropped.

@@necromancyutsushimi5668 The current stage where Compass Man was hasn't been ported to Game Maker, and it likely will not be.
Compass Man is currently not in the plans for QR2, but he may show up as a hidden boss somewhere.

We all know these cycles where these demons are pesky, but rest assured once you resolve all of these trauma within you, you will grow much more stronger out of this.
And we all know, that it takes a lot of work to figure the above out, while still being affected in the whole process. As such, take yourself as much time as you need it.

I'll be fine with what will become of Revolution, as long as it's a smidgen better than the older version of it and does have controller compatibility (plus, I was afraid that it got cancelled). I am moreso genuinely curious as to how the ending will be rewritten, more than anything.
That aside, cool stage so far, I love the Samurai Joes and the final boss of it, pretty creative there.
Also, seeing Stone Man act like Tanooki Mario is funny.
What Happened to MegaMan? Or he got Infected by the Z Virus (Variant of Sigma Virus) or is that an Impostor like the Fake ProtoMan

I heard many horror stories about fusion and I can really blame them.The software looks like fragile glass.
