A modified and simpler solution is to suck out the fluid from the reservoir....disconnect the return tube cap the connection and then pour new fluid in the reservoir while sucking fluidmout of the return line until it is clear.....you must use clear tubing
Hey man did you ever figured out what was wrong with your car? My altima is doing the same noise and it's driving me crazy I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with it.
Not yet. I haven’t had time. May have to get it looked at, might be the power steering pump itself. If you figure it out please come back and tell me! I’m still a noob at car repair.
It's the power steering pump. You have to replace it. The pumps tends to go out. Mine was started leaking and I changed it. No more noise and no leaks.
Hey bud. So recently I was hearing strange noise while steering and had it checked, the problem was a leaking power steering hose. So u gotta check down there if there is any oil leak or the level is at low. If there ain't any leak the pump has gone bad and u gotta change it.
I'm usually all about gadgets, etc. However, this seems like a real waste of time and money, not too mention you are pulling old fluid out, putting new fluid in, diluting the existing old fluid with the new, and then pulling that out to replace with some more new. Watch Eric the car guy, he shows how to do it in 5 minutes. You are basically doing the exact same thing with the vacuum pump, etc, just using additional equipment and not really getting a good final result for all your troubles.
The final result for me was good. Clean fluid. The issue seems to not have been the power steering pump. After taking the car through a car wash, the issue seemed to go away on its own. I was thinking it was the waterpump. Took it into a shop to diagnose it, and the sound didn’t come back. Someone else had a similar sound and changed all their power steering parts to no avail.
Then two hoses it the Reservoir is the best place to do a fluid flush you hook one hose to a waste bottle you hook the other hose to a good bottle with an opening to suck the fluid down. You will need 3 quarts of fluid to complete this flush process and a gallon catch container. When you have it all set up start the engine and a lot of pump to suck the good fluid through system as it flows into the catch container. Shut the car off after about two-and-a-half quarts has pumped through the system. Originally hook everything back up fill the reservoir. Flush as complete. Check and tighten all lines so now air can suck in the system.
My car is doing the same thing it’s an 09 Nissan Maxima can I just add new power steering fluid ?
It’s always a good idea to periodically change the power steering fluid. It may help. Also try an underbody flush, it could help!
Change the high and low pressure O Rings

I’ve got it on my to do list. We might be selling the car this year, so I need to fix up a couple things to get top $$. More car vids to come.

Yes they want to charge me 125. I can do this
It’s a really easy DIY job when you do it like this. Just a few bucks for a suction and a bottle of fluid.
The pump
Went away with a car wash 🤷🏻♂️

My car is doing the same thing
Remarkably, mine stopped after taking it through a car wash that did an underbody flush 🤷🏻♂️
@@MikeBotrosDIYHomeGarden I think my problem started after an underbody wash at Mister Carwash 🤦♂
How much new fluid did you end up using bud?
About a quart I think
