    This is great! Just got our first batch of broilers 3 days ago. And now time to build some tractors! Looking forward to trying your design. Pick up your book as well!!

    The white tarp in the south makes the Tractor like a green house. It gets to hot inside. I have some calf hutches for my goat kids that are white as well and have to put a dark tarp over the top to give them shade or it is just to hot. The green tarps seem to work well for us. But it is so hot here, none of them last more then a season. The sun just fries them... Hey I built one of your tractors from your book myself. Me, being wood working challenged actually finished it and it works. But I did not do the cut ins and as you mentioned in your book, some of the measurements where not perfect. But I got it together, it works and all is good. I had a guy from work build the second one. He did the cut ins and the door fit better and it is prettier. We both had a time bending the pipe and we both have crooked tops. But it works.... LOL! Will have one more built and may even put some young Nigerian Dwarf Goats into it. Great shelter for young goats and moving them around eliminates parasite issues. Thank you so much for all the info....

    We found white 14' online. Wind pulled the grommets out in a few places in the first 2 weeks. We ran wire across in a few areas to stop the movement. Seams to have worked

    Love your videos!!!
    If I used your design, bought your book, but for adult chicken, how could I add a nest section and egg collection section area to your design??

    I just subscribed because: 1. The rooster was silent. 2. I wanted to know about tarps. 3. The funny factor at the end .

    Have you ever tried using white or clear shower curtains? Wondering how they would last?

    Do you use a tool to add grommets to the sides of the tarp? Amazon link shows 3.5 foot between grommets, I would like them closer and wanted to k nm ow if grommets can be added? Is there a special tool to add then if you do?

    thank you John. I was wondering about winter storage. Do you protect the tractors in any special way in the winter?

    • @farmmarketing
      @farmmarketing  7 років тому +3

      Not really. I take off the tarps, feeders, and waterers and store them in a shed. The chicken tractors just hang out in a dry corner of a field.

    I bought your book but you have two different sizes for the conduit listed?

    John, will the book be available for sale in the brewery? I'm planning a visit to see your tasting room (and taste your brews) and would wait til I'm there for an autographed copy if you would do me that honor.

    Hi John, enjoying your vids! Thinking about getting the book to follow your example and build a tractor with a tarp. Yet, only question I have: i also want to be able to raise chickens in the winter. As you say in this vid you take of the tarp in the winter to store inside and this design doesn't seem winter proof or is it? What advise would you have for making it winter proof? Thanks! Jorn (Netherlands)

    Anyone have an approximate cost to build one of these tractors? I know this will vary by area, so what state you're in would be helpful as well.

    if you have a sewing machine you can make your tarp out of the feed socks

    I think I would have re-engineered the tractors to the smaller cheaper tarps that you could buy in bulk. Just a thought.

      I believe in another video he says that his tractors are this size specifically because of the trailer he uses to haul them around the farm. Any wider and they probably wouldn't fit, and shortening loses necessary square footage
