Situational awareness is way underrated. For every clip on this there are 1000 on how to fight. It is way more important than the last resort. The best fight you ever had is the one you never had.

One of the best compliments I’ve ever received from several girlfriends, is that they always felt safe with me, because I watch what’s going on around me in a discreet way. As my father, who survived two wars said, “You got to LOOK!”

"Just because you're paranoid does not mean they're not after you" is a refrain which often comes to mind. Common sense is great. Uncommon sense is golden.

1 great lesson my father taught me as a teenager learning to drive was to not only be aware of what the car directly in front is doing, but also two & 3 cars ahead. He said always take in the whole picture.

I was raised by a Korean war veteran, I hit about 11 years old all the sudden this routine started in our household that had me mystified because it was like the Presidential fitness campaign on school on steroids and it was at 5:30 every morning. When three military branches showed interest in me upon graduation after my ASVAB test three family members came to me and said they did not want me to invest or go into the services that it was nothing like it was when they were active and that the country was going to s*** this was back in the mid-90s..... I had a laminated ranger handbook on my kitchen table that a family member left for me and I'll never forget the tools they left in place because they had the foresight to see this s*** show coming

Awesome info Pat. My father always taught me to observe when entering any parking spot and always back in if possible. When second's count and you need to exit you already have the jump. I still to this day park way out in the parking lot away from everything and have a 360 view. Always observe your location in a parking lot, I.E. Always have a reference point of where you parked. Same when your in traffic, leave room between yourself and whats in front of you, dont get boxed in. This has become Engrained after 62 years. 😮

As a Honduran I agree, it definitely depends on the city and your relationship with your community but it is incredible how much a little extra attention does. In fact last week a drugged guy started getting too close to me, probably for some money but point is I was aware of him, took distance which allowed me to see him ACTIVELY going after ME so had time to respond accordingly. Everything was fine.....

Just wanted to add that It's sad how expensive it is to own a legal firearm, 5 times the price of the US, some cases 10 times the price......in one of the poorest countries in the American continent. The license you get by bribing the officers. Let's not even mention how self defense laws are here, you add all these things together and you get that most gun owners have their guns illegally.

@@marckpadilla I own a small fishing business on the bay islands. That alone makes me a solid target when I’m there. Sad to see how dangerous it’s become even on the remote islands like Guanaja. I have some close friends that provide a few guys for added deterrent.

As a former firefighter, still current paramedic and safety guy who spent nearly 7 years in Iraq, I struggle with my response to the "paranoid" label from the flaccid and gelatinous types, even people who should definitely know better. The flippant part of me just wants to embrace it and say "yeah, absolutely". But words mean things. Definition of Paranoia: unjustified suspicion and mistrust of other people or their actions. The key word there is "unjustified" and with enough experience, you know that a reasonable suspicion is never unjustified. IYKYK. So, now I just tell people its not a matter of being paranoid, its simply the result of lived experience.

A trick I found that works for me with the phone is to hold your phone and your nondominant hand when you’re out and about. It makes it awkward to use it so it encourages you to do what you’re doing and put it down. It also leaves your strong and free.

    • @freedomridermorty4459

How about putting your phone in your back pocket where it belongs and leaving both your hand's Free. Unless I'm going to be in somewhere for a couple of hour's, I'll leave the Phone in my Truck. I'm 62 I'm no longer that important to have to carry a phone with me 24/7 I'd rather carry my 2nd Amendment tool with me and a spare 20 rnd mag.

Whenever I am out to eat I sit facing the door, Also when driving I also watch my 6 when coming to a stop and it has saved my ass ! When a stop light turns green I always look both ways to make sure someone isn't running a red That TOO has saved my ass ! Lastly as far as having a plan always remember If you have to hit something hit something moving the same direction you are going, next would be something is NOT moving and the LAST thing you ever want to hit is something moving in the opposite direction.

It blows my mind how many people don’t pay attention in a vehicle. A 1,200-2,500lb metal box at speeds of 55 mph less than 3ft away from others going the opposite way toward you. Yet they fixated on a tiny screen being behind the wheel. 🤔

The baby stroller con is a variation of the beautiful woman with the broken down car and her hood up looking worried and confused so someone would pull over to help her. However the person that pulls over doesn’t know there two violent men hiding behind the tree line waiting for the right time to attack and knock him out and rob him. It’s known as the “white knight syndrome.” There are many variations of this, including home invasions. They’ve been around for a very, very long time.

I liked the bit you said about complacency. I work at a law firm and my boss / head attorney is on the Regents for several Univerties.
One PhD candidate was maybe not going to be awarded the degree & put forth a few bomb threats.
Boss put forth their opinion / analysis telling us what to do if they show up. Made a lot of sense!

    • @PanzerKunstExponent
      @PanzerKunstExponent Місяць тому

I asked boss if they can provide photos of this guy in case he shows up & gives a fake name. Boss thought my odea was correct!
One coworker said that he's not going to worry about it as he's never heard of anything like that happening in the state. I told him "dude, you're a moron." "Boss didn't tell us the procedure to alleviate our fears dummy. They did so to protect us, themself and everyone else in the Bldg."
Also told owner of the firm & Offc Mgr mainly because my office is right next to the front door and I'm primary gatekeeper but when I'm not there, (sick, vacation, taking a piss et cetera), Complacent Guy was my backup. I'm usually 1st to hear elevator ding & see someone walking ul to our door.
3 hours later we had a firm meeting clarifying the procedure & boss made sure all knew what bomb threat dude looked like.

9:07 part of the reason for this is that many people get locked into the "pedestrian has the right of way" mindset, so in their self righteous indignation, they forge ahead into the crosswalk (if they even use the crosswalk) without looking both ways, because they have the right of way. Yep they're right, and one day they will be "dead-right". Unfortunately, too many people drive the same way.

This wasn't very groundbreaking. Sounds like a conversation between two buzzed Dad's that watch WWII documentaries.

Guns make a you a more calma. make a you more relaxa. The BJJ guys act like that with jiu jitsu. The gun trainer people are more hyped "someone is gonna invade your house and attack your family!!!" Why can't people be relaxed with a gun. What your doing is applying engineering. you're smarter than a brazilian wrestler. The gun does the work. You notice that you are scarier than the jiu jitsu guys. That's also not your training, you would suck in the military like that. Biathlon is real. They have to travel long distances and then control their heart rate to make accurate shots. I like that sport. It's very difficult and tedious. It relaxes you about guns. It probably hurts your sales. And you might be turning people gay. I feel my nuts shriveling up just looking at you. You're making me need TRT. You're trying to impress women or something and it probably scares away your customers. People aren't scared of samarai with their precise demonstrations of cutting. They're not intimidated by buffalo bill doing a gun show. I wonder if people didn't act so tough with the guns if it wouldn't be such an issue.
