I had the same problem with my Nissan tidal 2008 model. I followed your instructions and air conditioner started working and light came on. Thanks for saving me $250 dollars at the dealer repair for what they were asking to fix this problem in Melbourne Australia

Sir I Have Tiida 2008 And I Replace Battery After That I Have Some Issues After Week Out of nowhere Have Heat And I Don't Know And My AC Shut Down Automatically And Car Switch Off Automatic And After That I Listen Sounds Li Zzzz And AC Hot Some Electricals Say You Compressor Is Ruined And Now Everytime Turn On AC Car Shut Down Automatically What Is Problem Please Sir Tell Me
All I can think is that because when you set an air conditioner to window demist, by default it sets the ac to the coldest setting which is with the compressor on.

Do you have to hit the button whilst your doing it or just the switch thing whilst it’s running?
Just turning the switch to the demist setting while running should force the AC to turn on.
