Fun Fact: The ENTIRE cast at the time gathered around that open field to watch the Rick-Shane scene because they knew what would go down and wanted to see with their own eyes.

'I can't believe it! Shane was such a reasonable and nice guy! Why the writers did this to him?" you cannot be funnier :)

The reason Shane decided to kill Rick now is because of what Lori just said to him. In her mind she was trying to make peace with him and thank him... wanting no hard feelings. Shane heard her words as ... 'If Rick wasn't here we would be together.' Shane was NOT a good leader because all he cared about was Lori, Carl and himself.... a good leader needs to care about the WHOLE group because it is the WHOLE group that makes surviving possible.

Even in the beginning, Shane pulled a gun on Rick. It's nothing new that Shane wanted Rick away from Lori and Carl, he wanted his family, he betrayed his best friend, and he deserved the death he got. And Rick crying and saying ''That was you, not me.'' What a performance.

You man clearly missed the fact that Lori triggered Shane's actions with that little conversation she had with him. She gave him hope masked as an apology. Shane was starting to move on before that.

Was waiting to see AJs response to Shanes death. Can't believe he thought that was out of character. That was exactly who Shane has been since day 1. And that was how he went out in the comic. Shot trying to kill Rick so he can have Lori. Shane was not a good leader...he repeatedly said he only cared about Lori and Carl. He would 100% sacrifice anyone to save those 2. Rick does what he can for the whole group.

Saying Shane is more of a father figure than Rick was so gross. Lmao and to find out in the next scene that Shane only told Rick to talk to Carl so he could kill Randall hopefully woke y'all up. Shane weaponized Carl against Rick... yeah what a father figure.

It was confirmed (by a writer i think) that if shane was the leader then the whole group wouldve died.

If you pay attention to his verbiage in that scene Shane clearly just wanted to die at this point and baited Rick into killing him Jon Bernthal even wanted a reveal that Shane’s gun was empty the whole time.

That scene with Rick and Shane has got to be one of the best scenes in the entirety of the series.

AJ is that one Homie everyone has, that when he starts to speak you just shake your head and wait until someone else to talk.

Growing to be my favorite reactors, there’s always somebody to agree or disagree with, in a good way! Different perspectives for every character introduced

Shane's death is tragic in a way.. it feels like a brother killing a brother. I'm not per se on the hate train when it comes to Shane, as you guys also mentioined he just burned through and snapped, this world brought out the worst in him and Lori unintentionally gave him the final push. But he still tried to kill Rick in cold blood and that's also a fact so Rick had no other choice than killing him in self defense.. as Shane has said himself there would've been no coming back from this.

This show changes tones every 2 seasons. Seasons 1-2 have a very particular tone that dies with Shane. And Seasons 3-4 will FEEL different. Then 5-6 will feel different. Then 7-8, 9-10, and then 11 is also different. Some people prefer some over others but I love them all the same.

    Shane is a goated character.

I’ve gone back and watched the walking dead from start to finish a few times, and I consistently come to the opinion that the conversation with Lori is a huge factor why this happened.
